I don't see how it's an insult to America. It may be an insult towards Patton's brash (see: incredibly effective) tactics during World War II, or perhaps simply a joke meant to point out to Bush that, though those tactics were very brutal, they were effective beyond all belief and should be used again. The problem is Patton's goal was Unilateral gain for the United States, and FDR's and Eisenhowers was gain for Britain, France, and Europe. Unfortunately the latter views continue today in D.C.

Let me tell you something, you go there to that cemetery and it feels like you're in another planet. It is a very humbling experience seeing all those graves. I don't see how it's an insult to America. It may be an insult towards Patton's brash (see: incredibly effective) tactics during World War II, or perhaps simply a joke meant to point out to Bush that, though those tactics were very brutal, they were effective beyond all belief and should be used again. The problem is Patton's goal was Unilateral gain for the United States, and FDR's and Eisenhowers was gain for Britain, France, and Europe. Unfortunately the latter views continue today in D.C.
