i dont know if you ever drove a 540, but i can tell i have an 2010 rs6, and a bmw 540 its one of the best quality cars i ever seen it only has 250 hp and runs like a crazy horse
@litlewing actually the 540i has between 282 and 290 hp depending on the year. the one in this video will be 282 hp (though most agree that is is underrated from the factory)... i have a later 540i with the 290 hp engine and it goes like a demon.

@9061king9061 Also 354 PS stock (C32 AMG) und die meisten bauen chip nei hasch deine die generation M5 400 PS ... so der 540i stock kommt grad so an ein 230kompressor vorbei.. mehr geht nicht 1. zu schwer . 2. endgeschwindigkeit wird nicht getestet. 3. des ist gebaut als cruiser vom BMW aus, wobei die Kompressor modelle von Daimler rennfreudigemaschinen sind.

actually track times are what matter least when buying a car. the mercedes superior straight line acceleration is more useful in everyday situations, not how many g's the bmw pulls on a skidpad.
those c32 amgs run 13.3 quarter miles so this "stock" 540i LOL runs a 13.0 then...my ass thats faster then the m5...which mean the 540i is modded up....
the way the cars are geared..final drive ratio, final output ratio of trans..mercedes always has more hp that bmw, but BMW's are traditionally faster..theres more to a win that horsepower..

540 actually does in 5.5 for stick I think 5.7 or 5.8 for auto because bmw changes the diff on teheauto to make up for the tranny so even the auto is freaking fast and shifts like a stick
@DRIVEBYRACHKO dude...540i/6 all the way. U dont want the problems and maintainence costs associated with AMG..the m62b44 motor in the BMW is notoriously bulletproof, mine has 153,xxx miles and runs like NEW! no joke.
ohh and by the way i rather like the c55 amg but the c32 is just a tiny 3.2 liter v6 that sounds horrible under pressure.. id take the v8 any day over that little sowing-machine. but each to its own i guess...

@TezzeracT I'm not saying its impossible for the 540i to be modded, you just shouldn't assume it is because it keeps up with the merc, there are other factors to take in, maybe the merc was running slower then stock, maybe the merc had a crap driver.

@Justa318i This is very true, driver and how the merc was running are valid factors. I have never modded a 540i, but it seems like even with full bolt-ons, chip and tune you could push MAYBE (and this seems like its pushing it) +50bhp which would amount to ~330hp which still falls short 20hp not to mention the 200+more lbs curb weight. Actually by writing this I think I answered my own question. It must have been the driver or merc was running bad.
BMW fanboys always compare the M3 like its the greatest car in the world. Sorry to break it to you but Motortrend compared the M3 to the Infiniti G37 and the M3 lost horribly.
That mercedes have 354hp BMW just 286hp. Mercedes have a kompressor, BMW just great engine. AMG i sportcar, BMW 540i is a normal car, just limusine. The BMW is 5-6years older from that AMG. What can I say?

man i own a C32 AMG. 540 is a turtle concidering a C32 is more powerfull cause she is supercharged. could beat any 540 any time, already in my old C36 i did beat many 540i. these cars r heavy from stand still.!!!!!

der BMW hat 4,0 liter Hubraum und der Mercedes 3,2 also is es klar dass der BMW ne chance hat , aber der C55 AMG mit 5,5 liter hubraum(4 Endrohre für dich ) würde den BMW locker zerlegen.

Mercedes holt das Drehmoment und die Leistung nur mit einem Kompressor raus! Der S600 hatte 360PS, bis der 760i mit 445PS kam und die Jungs aus Stuttgard nicht mithalten konnten, gabs den Kompressor, mit dem der S600 dann 55PS mehr hatte als der 7er.

In diesem Fall müsste der C32 dem 540i aber wegfahren, falscher Fahrer!
Und davon ab, sooo doll is der Sound von den AMG´s nun auch nicht. Ohne Aufladung eigentlich noch unspektakulärer als die M´s.

i have a 97 540i v8 6speed with the sport package. i wreck everything i go against. those cars have insane amounts of power. and if mine can eat a z06 or a cobra like there nothing...that benz deffinatly will never win
you cannot beat a z06 unless your car is heavily modified, you do know that a z06 runs mid to low 12s stock...it makes more power an torque then the 540 an has a much lower weight an aero dynamics
ive driven both and the mercedes deffinetely has better acceleration but the bmw really picks it up after about 60-70 mph its a great car to go fast on the highway with
i got a 540i no bull and i raced a sti my my engine and transmission were cold and i had winter tires on but i still just about passed him, i could see how i was catching up as his befor his turbo would really kick in then it was even, mine is newer than this one so it does have more torque though, the 540 is a very fast car faster than it should be
- mercedes do still make manual cars, although very limited because most people prefer auto box.
BMW are more of a drivers car whereas mercedes are more luxury thats why an auto is preferable.
BMW has a 4.4l u say, new mercedes c class has a c63amg - 6.2litre engine. it would own a beemer in the straights but you are correct, mercedes handling is less than desireable!!!
mercs are made with the sense to lap up the miles quickly...hence the word luxury saloon..bmw's are more the driver's car so tend to sport harder suspension, sharper steering etc...audi's well no, the A4 to me is like a better looking vw passat, the a3 is the vw golf chassis with improved body styling.

It will take a pro driver to make any difference out from a BMW and a Merc on a track. That's how little difference there is in practical driving. The MB's are tuned for Autobahn in a higher degree than BMW (higher caster angle f.x.) and that has it's pro's and cons under different circumstances.
first of all, the c-class is a compact luxury sedan, competing with the 3-series and Audi A4. the 5-series is a midsize luxury sedan, competing with the e-class and Audi A6. second, AMG competes with BMW's M. Instead of that 540i, you should have the M3 or M5. The 540i is slower and less powerful. Decent video, but you have to make a few changes.
actually its not really a fair test. The C32 AMG is a 3.2L V6 Supercharged vs a 4.0L V8. And the 0-60mph times are pretty similar. the C32 does 0-60MPH in 5.4. The C55 AMG Does it in Low 5's high 4's due t traction issues. a fair test woud be an M5 vs. a E55 AMG.

the way the cars are geared..final drive ratio, final output ratio of trans..mercedes always has more hp that bmw, but BMW's are traditionally faster..theres more to a win that horsepower..

I have driven an 540i multipel times.
And i know what a c32 amg does.
There is no chance for that 540i
I had a golf 4 gti 210 hp that would match up pretty good with a 540i.
But a c32 is lighter and has wayyyy more hp.

540 actually does in 5.5 for stick I think 5.7 or 5.8 for auto because bmw changes the diff on teheauto to make up for the tranny so even the auto is freaking fast and shifts like a stick

@TezzeracT I'm not saying its impossible for the 540i to be modded, you just shouldn't assume it is because it keeps up with the merc, there are other factors to take in, maybe the merc was running slower then stock, maybe the merc had a crap driver.
I seriously doubt it was "heavily modded", because if it was, it could stomp the mercedes

@Justa318i This is very true, driver and how the merc was running are valid factors. I have never modded a 540i, but it seems like even with full bolt-ons, chip and tune you could push MAYBE (and this seems like its pushing it) +50bhp which would amount to ~330hp which still falls short 20hp not to mention the 200+more lbs curb weight. Actually by writing this I think I answered my own question. It must have been the driver or merc was running bad.

2. hat der FL am meisten Drehmoment, 440nm bei 3600U. Keine 480.
3. Setzt die M-GMBH auf Hochdrehzahl, BMW selbst baut normale Motoren.
4. Der BMW Leitspruch war bis vor kurzem: Leistung durch Hubraum. Und das ist auch gut so.
5. Mercedes baut tatsächlich auf Hubraum und Turbos/Kompressoren.
6. Ist der Test total für den Arsch. C32 AMG gegen 540i? Hättet lieber den E36 oder E46 M nehmen sollen. Der fünfer ist kein Sportwagen! Idioten...

Mercedes holt das Drehmoment und die Leistung nur mit einem Kompressor raus! Der S600 hatte 360PS, bis der 760i mit 445PS kam und die Jungs aus Stuttgard nicht mithalten konnten, gabs den Kompressor, mit dem der S600 dann 55PS mehr hatte als der 7er.
Ohne Aufladung, sehen die Schwaben keine Sonne!
In diesem Fall müsste der C32 dem 540i aber wegfahren, falscher Fahrer!

Wobei ich kein Audi-Fan bin, aber der Sond der aktuellen RS´4s und des R8 ist der absolute Hammer. Da kommt Benz und BMW nicht mit, was den Sound betrifft versteht sich!

ich kenne Beide fahrer und die Autos. Das BMW is supercharged - aber ohne abstimmung, also sollte 425 HP haben, ist aber warscheindlich nicht. Ausserdem, BMW hat zirca 1.9 tonne gewicht, dat teilweise "armored" (weiss nicht genau wie es auf Deutsch heisst)

i got a 540i no bull and i raced a sti my my engine and transmission were cold and i had winter tires on but i still just about passed him, i could see how i was catching up as his befor his turbo would really kick in then it was even, mine is newer than this one so it does have more torque though, the 540 is a very fast car faster than it should be

It will take a pro driver to make any difference out from a BMW and a Merc on a track. That's how little difference there is in practical driving. The MB's are tuned for Autobahn in a higher degree than BMW (higher caster angle f.x.) and that has it's pro's and cons under different circumstances.

first of all, the c-class is a compact luxury sedan, competing with the 3-series and Audi A4. the 5-series is a midsize luxury sedan, competing with the e-class and Audi A6. second, AMG competes with BMW's M. Instead of that 540i, you should have the M3 or M5. The 540i is slower and less powerful. Decent video, but you have to make a few changes.

The Amg C32 should smoke a 540 effortlessly being the bhp gap so wide:no contest.
Even the gbox should be quicker enough to gain
some fractions compared to a quiet sedan 540.
354 bhp vs 286 bhp+heavier weight+slow g.box
hummm...what about the driver ?!

actually its not really a fair test. The C32 AMG is a 3.2L V6 Supercharged vs a 4.0L V8. And the 0-60mph times are pretty similar. the C32 does 0-60MPH in 5.4. The C55 AMG Does it in Low 5's high 4's due t traction issues. a fair test woud be an M5 vs. a E55 AMG.
