Well, having owned a gaming computer (one that is very outdated) for a long time, it tends to overheat, and shut itself down periodically. If I open the side casing and put a giant fan up against it on full speed, it does fine. Cooling down a gaming system will not harm your system, unless you're using water or something. Overheating is a big bad!
