Stop comparing Nissan GTR Spec V and start looking at other vehicle. Ferrari F430 Scuderia come with no carpet and it is stripe down pretty much like the GTR Spec V is. Ferrari F430 Scuderia also comes with a race mode switch button, pretty much like the one Nissan GTR Spec V has and also Ferrari F430 Scuderia has about 13 to 20 more horse power bump over the original Ferrari F430 and Ferrari F430 Scuderia cost twice the price of that original Ferrari F430.
THe thing is, the Scuderia is WAY faster than the regular F430. The Spec-V is just little faster, in fact in tsukuba the regular GTR did a 0,4 seconds faster than the Spec-V and that is the thing. You pay twice and don't see any improvment like you see in the scuderia

I own the gtr i use lc once in a while and you really have to abuse lc for you to break it. Threr's a lot young drivers who don't no anything about driving shouldn't drive this car. The car's fast even without lc. If they leave out lc then they need to add more power to the spec v atlease 600+hp.

It has already happened.. domestic fans do not realize the reason why their cars are getting better, its a quite simple answer. The domestic cars are more and more engineered by the Europeans or Japanese, the Ecotec engine was DESIGNED and ENGINEERED by an INTERNATIONAL team of engineers. Same with their new v6 in the Malibu. Is there really a reason to be proud when your automaker is going to the competition for advice.. personally I don't think there is a reason to gloat.
I'd only buy from a bankrupt company if they had a product I wanted in the first place. I recently bought 2 cars one for my wife and one for my company. In both cases I looked at every American offering before considering an import. I bought a Mazda and a Honda. By all means we need to save the American car makers but they also need to produce a car I would buy.
don't know what the GTR is going to be, so I might as well stick back to the old R34, where the old over engineered piece of art can simply be used and abused at all times even after excessive tuning...
As for buying a car from a bankrupt company? I would but only if I saw their recovery plan would allow them to regain a healthy market share. Have American cars beome more reliable sine the days of planned obsolescence? Yes. Has the price gotten more competitive? Yes. Has the exterior styling improved? Well yeah. Even the interior of American cars are getting better. If they can get the handling up and restructure to a leaner stronger survivor, I would do it.
lol you are either a fool or a liar. If American cars are improving so well, why the hell have they been losing market share to foreign makers for decades? The point is American cars are crap in design, price, and quality. Even Americans refuse to buy their crap, thats how bad it is.
Your smart enough to talk crap, yet not smart enough to look into vehicle recalls? A casual comparison between 2007 Chevy and Toyota recalls shows most of Chevy's recalls were due to electrical issues. Toyota on the other hand has recalls for airbags, drive lines, and brakes. It takes seven years to get the buying public to acknowledge a change in a manufacturer's product. Things work in cycles and it looks like American cars are on the up swing. If recalls show anything JDM's are on the down.
Ok, you're a fool. American cars on the up swing? Then why are the big 3 going bankrupt fool? Heck even Korean crap is selling better than that American garbage. You said it yourself, it takes years to build a reputation, Japanese cars are known to be reliable, German known for driving pleasure, American known to be crap. Hence the current situation. And the public agrees with me, hence they aren't buying American rubbish.
Still have not taken the time to verify the veracity of my recall claim. Instead you result to plebian insults. Your retort only serves to underscore the ignorance of your claims. The time taken to build a positive reputation is equal to the time required to lose a positive reputation. Or in more simple terms, "The inverse is generally true," if you do not mind me quoting Einstein. The fact that you did not check my claim shows you to be a lazy fanboy.
I have stated these arguments to the point that I am bored with them, but here we go again. Combined the European makes have requested 50 billion Euros. In the same quarter that Chevy posted a 34% loss Nissan posted a 33% loss. The heads of Honda and Toyota are both supportive of the bailout. The official reason is that if any of the big three go then there could be a collapse in the supply chain that would affect Honda and Toyota.
That is the most ludicrous statement I've heard. You think nobody in America will supply parts, buy cars, etc, if the big 3 go under? The surviving companies will simply move in and take their market share. Sure profits will decline, wages will be cut, but there will still be a car industry. The reason why every carmaker is requesting a bailout now is because the American makers are likely to get one themselves, which is extremely unfair to them.
This is a global economy my ignorant fan boy. Everything is inter connected. Common parts like the solenoids used to unlock your automatic doors are shared by international makes. But your argument fails to change the facts that the CEO's of Honda and Toyota support the bailout. If anything it supports my supposition that they want to save face when the economy forces even Honda and Toyota to capitulate and ask for governmental aid from Japan.
There is a pattern to all of this. The problem started in America with sub-prime home loans. from there the it spread eastward. First Americans want a bailout, then the Europeans, now its a matter of time before the Asians may be forced to do the same. Simply put the reason American cars are not selling is the same reason no ones cars are selling. The credit crunch is a global phenomenon.
Wow u really are retarded. U really do think that there is no car industry left? Even when times are bad, people still buy cars, and parts suppliers are still needed. Sure, less units are sold, hence only the best managed ones will survive this. Capacity will drop, some suppliers will go bankrupt. The reason why the Americans are the first ones begging for money is because they are the weakest. Survival of the fittest, economics 101 dumbo.
Truth told I have eight visual disorders and am not supposed to read above the second grade level. Funny part is I was reading at the collegiate level before the problems with my eyes were discovered and corrected. So yes retarded: to be held back or hindered, is somehow appropriate. But it is also safe to say that because I can read despite my disabilities shows a high degree of frontal lobe development. Now that revelation makes me wonder what your excuse is?
From BW; " For example, Mazda and Ford share production at several plants and work closely together on new vehicle development. In particular, Mazda plays a large role in the development of Ford's passenger cars. Similarly, Korea's Daewoo is responsible for GM's small-car output and would have plenty to lose if GM were to go under. South Korea is the home to GM's small-car design and production and GM Daewoo Auto and Technology made about a quarter of the 4 million cars built in Korea in 2007.
Seeing that Business Week agrees with my statement what kind of retard are you to bury you head in the sand. I can provide sources for each aspect of my arguments. Can you, an over opinionated fan boy, say the same?
Business Week agrees with you, you must be right! Love your reasoning. Unfortunately for you, the market is smarter than Business Week. American automakers have failed because of a lousy business model, lousy products, etc. You can quote top gear, Business Week, or any other publication that you deem retarded enough to understand, but Americans don't want their products, as demonstrated by their shrinking market share over the past decade. This crisis just accelerated the inevitable.
What are your credentials? What gives you the unmitigated gall to declare anyone who does not agree with you a retard? What gives you any credibility in this or any other forum? Yes the big three have engaged in poor business practices. Yes in the past they have made poor cars. That does not change the fact that they is changed. Just because you are too self-important to read anything that fails to agree with your myopic point of view does not make credited news agencies retarded.
You should read more and type less till you have an actual comprehension of the facts. Perhaps then I could carry a higher respect for your pathetic debate skills.
But there is rumor that the market is so bad globally that even the Japanese will have to dip so far into their reserves that they will be forced to ask their government for a bailout. So support of the big three bailout could be a front to save face in the future. Look closer at the American "crap" and you will see that their games have stepped up considerably. Despite the UAW Chevy can undersell most Asian makes. Even the Europeans recognize the change on the American offerings.
Both Fifth Gear and Top Gear, very good British auto shows have recognized the Corvette ZR1 as the best performance car in the world for 2009. Trust me Jeremy Clarkson lives to rib American makes. If Roger Penske can do the "impossible" we should see both Chrysler and GM come out of the bailout stronger than when they kowtowed for financial aid. As for green options right now Chevy offers more low emission vehicle varieties than Toyota, the Japanese green leader.
i'm confused... so the newer GTR non V-spec will lose launch control as well? doesn't that mean the current gen ones [the ones that are left anyways] are technically better than the future models because they have one more feature [despite the warranty issues]??? does this mean i should get one right now and forget the future gen? or look for another car? stupid nissan... why couldnt they give it to proper infiniti dealerships.
No it means Nissan won't be hypocrites any more by putting a feature on a car that they won't cover under warranty. While it would have been nice if they made the transmission more reliable, who wants to race a car with a guaranteed quater mile time? It takes all the skill out of the experience. I applaud Nissan for making the Spec-V a bit more purist.
from what i'm reading... HOW exactly they decide to void the warranty is still shady, and that's exactly the reason why I can't say I want to get in on the GTR just yet. Reliability is a must if infiniti is not servicing the car, especially [I own a G35 right now] because Nissan dealerships don't know how to handle a car like the GTR, much less, customers of that level [hope i dont sound snobbish, but the salespeople at nissan now are super pricks]. Spec-V is cool, but I need my rear seats lol
A friend of mine owns a G35, beauty car. I don't think it is snobbish for you to demand proper service from a Nissan sales rep. The best way to get them to be real is to keep your cash in your pocket till they give you what you want. Personally I love the idea behind this car, I root for it. But I don't need "robo-launch" to make me look good off the line. I would buy a GTR but if I got one with Launch Control I would never use it.
I disagree. Chrysler, Dodge, and (especially) Jeep have history... and potential.. well, at least Jeep does.
People will always buy a Jeep if it's a real Jeep. Most of today's jeeps aren't "real Jeeps"- if they get their act together, make some jeeps like they did in the 90s, and they'll see some cash flow.
Ford is doing better than GM and Chrystler their only asking for a credit line instead of a bailout and took a smaller sales hit than Toyota in November. I think the big three's ceo's are getting their heads out of their asses i just hope it's not to late. I'd buy from a bankrupt company because i do most of my own repairs and there's a big after market to supply parts.
Ford is in better shape than the rest of the big 3 and are only asking for a credit line instead of a bailout. They even suffered less of a sales hit than toyota in november. I think the ceo's of the big 3 are getting their heads out of their asses but i just hope their not to late.
I would buy from a bankrupt company because i work on my own cars anyways and there is a huge after market out there to supply parts.
I would buy from a bankrupt company. Chances are the prices would be cheap, and as for parts, there are so many companies out there selling every kind of part available. I mean I'm sure warranty's would be kind of a joke because the company won't even last 3 years or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first in those jets of theirs. But truth be told, I'd still buy from a bankrupt company. I take care of my cars and my cars take care of me.
While I do think the government should do a bailout this time, overall Bailouts should be avoided since it turns its back on the spirit of the Free Market. A company shouldn't just stick around because people depend on them; a company should stick around because its relevant to the market.
Otherwise lets all put our money in a Pyramid scheme and let the government bail us out when it collapses (drastic anecdote I know).
I'd take a big discount on a car from a company that went bankrupt. I'm not concerned with losing a parts network which sells parts that don't last that long anyways.
Its an M22 Rock Crusher, which was a GM based transmission found in Camaros, Novas, Corvettes, Chevelles, etc. back in the late 60's and early 70's. The nick name supposedly came from an engineer throwing a rock in a M22 transmission during testing. Apparently it "crushed a rock" and still worked. Thus the name, 'rock crusher'. However, I personally wonder how big that rock really was...
While I would like to see the government not spend the money on bailing out companies, they've already bailed out the banking industry, so why not help the car manufacturers?
finally...this is the quality of video i've been waiting for. Great widescreen with the hq...excellent quality. Now It looks like i'm watching a dvd on my flatscreen good stuff...
i work for a chev dealership. the sales have dropped but they are still selling, so it must mean some people either dont care or dont know about the almost bankrupt GM.
QOD: Sure, as long as there are still quality parts offered for the car (aftermarket or from the parts department) and they are willing to make a very big slash on the final price of their product (I would obviously have to be able to afford it), I would go for it.
Sidenote: Some of these companies that are building "sports cars," need to take a look at what Lotus has been building for the past 30 years (excluding the Mark 2 Elan).
I would totally buy a car from a company going bank rupt. I can fix a car, you get it cheap, 3rd party parts...not a big deal if its the car you really want.
I certainly wouldn't buy a NEW car from a company at risk of bankruptcy because I'd want that warranty guarantee, but a few months back I bought a used Monte Carlo and I'd buy another used car from one of those three companies assuming parts are still in production.
i would buy a car from a bankrupt company if that company could make a good car, unfortunately GM and Chrysler have especially failed at producing much of anything that has impressed me and Ford is not doing that much better, though i like ford's idea of bringing the european styling to the US.
dude i honestly think this whole thing with the GM jets is just a publicity stunt to focus the public on them, instead of the "recession" maybe i'm putting to much into it but i do think its just to get the attention to get the bail out money..
i wouldnt buy a car from a bankrupt company unless i got one hell of a deal on a pontiac g8, z06/zr1, or they gave me any of their other cars for free. but thats it
To QOD: I think if you're smart you'd buy the best car that comapany has when in bankrupcy wheter you like the car or not, you don't have to drive it, you can think of it as an inversment, then in about 50 years when that company doesn't exist anymore that car would be worth 10 times as much as the retail price you paid. Thrust me on this one, that's what I would do!
they did not wanted to learn about the past they kept building big boring cars and expensive too now they want to make nice looking eficient cars. these people are so uptight that they have critize one of the best cars they have made in a long time the G8,becouse it is not all american, sorry for the people loosing their jobs but they are going under let them
Please Volvo go solo!!!! Ford destroyed Volvo quality and market. The best Volvo ever built was 850/S70s comfortable seats powerful and fuel efficient
QOD REPLY-I would probably buy it if i liked the features, not only under the hood but in the interior too. But all of all it really depends what car manufacter made it because some companies make crap and some don't. Also please subscribe me whoever on the comment list or garage 419 or whoever.
wel...i saw a commercial few weeks or so ago..in the ad.."be American buy American" show up for the whole commercial..it's from pontiac or soemthing i forgot..the whole commercial is just basically patriotism..having american flag waving at the back....i'm mean..is that the only feature that they can come up with???? then the other day heard a radio ad saying "wanna life big?? drive small getin into a pontiac small cars...the fuel efficient wave blahblah...." that sounds..pretty stupid to me....
on the qotd: If ford went bankrupt then I would consider it as they have some nice cars through the whole range. I dont like their stuff so much for the american market but the euro stuff is nice.
GM i probably would not as some of their best cars are the more expensive ones with their low/mid range being a bit un attractive.
With the jets thing it makes me just dislike them more because it makes me think a loan they would just blow on more jets and hollidays.
well mine was a birthday present from alex, so i don't know whether its worth it or not, but judging by the number of people i meet just by wearing it, i'd have to say yes, absolutely.
I would buy a bankrupt company car. Especially the mustang in which i think the mustang will save Ford since the mustang has the record for selling the most out of all the rest!
1 car would not save the company. period. i love mustang dont get me wrong. ford got their "fix or repaid daily" for a reason. and these company are going down for a reason. while domestic car company are outsourcing. toyota, hyundai, and building centers in america. these comany does represent america. i the goverment will not let them go down. even if it seems like it.
if ford goes down over 3000 jobs will be lost in each state..thats not including the other three..yes they are building here but the same will happen to them..Its not the out sourcing it the cost of health insurance that can bring the company to its knees..I am about to buy the new g8 gt which is bad ass..Ford need to bring the aussie cars like the Ford Falcon and so does GM they make good cars..they just dont sell them here..lol
Agreed, GM and Ford make alot of good products in the European market (Ford Focus, Ford Mondeo, Vauxhaul VXR8, Vauxhall VX220, Vauxhall Zafira), and hopefully, many of them (Ford apparently agrees) will come here as well.
yes i know know about the health insurance and really high income for the amount the people do in the factories. i would say 14 dollars at most. standing there doing the same thing over and over again. sounds like McDonald to me but in a bigger scale. i agree the foreign market of American company has better cars. its the health car that cause the American car company to outsource in the first place.
There is not bad about the car companies going bankrupt. Airlines filed for bankruptcy, yet people still fly on their planes. The problem with the American car companies are the unions. American, European, and Japanese car companies' sales volumes are all down, but the US car manufacturers are losing the most money because of rediculous union agreements. Sure GM, Ford, & Chrysler need to come up with better cars, but until they fix the union issues, they won't be on the same playing field.
In regards to your QOD. No, there's no way in hell I'd consider buying a car from any of the 'big 3' regardless of their bankruptcy status. They've been producing sub par cars for years now. Personally I hope they crumble. Good work, love the show.
I own a 2004 Elise and it gets lots of attention wherever I go. It isnt comfy but it is an excellent performer and a very fun ride. I dont really like the styling of the Evora and even if I did,I wouldn't spend the 70k that it costs for like you put it"a sports coupe with a Camry engine". I am more interested on what the next gen Elise will look like and I hope they dont ruin it cuz I think they hit the nail with the current design, I mean it's a 9 year old car and it still looks freaking rad.
ok regarding the qod. i think if you are into modding cars that would be the best option is to buy new at really low prices. fresh everything, and probably no warranty anyways so a nice new car to mod like crazy.
The GTR Spec-V cost $162,000!

Seeing that Business Week agrees with my statement what kind of retard are you to bury you head in the sand. I can provide sources for each aspect of my arguments. Can you, an over opinionated fan boy, say the same?
piwright42 3 years ago
Business Week agrees with you, you must be right! Love your reasoning. Unfortunately for you, the market is smarter than Business Week. American automakers have failed because of a lousy business model, lousy products, etc. You can quote top gear, Business Week, or any other publication that you deem retarded enough to understand, but Americans don't want their products, as demonstrated by their shrinking market share over the past decade. This crisis just accelerated the inevitable.
sianghan 3 years ago
What are your credentials? What gives you the unmitigated gall to declare anyone who does not agree with you a retard? What gives you any credibility in this or any other forum? Yes the big three have engaged in poor business practices. Yes in the past they have made poor cars. That does not change the fact that they is changed. Just because you are too self-important to read anything that fails to agree with your myopic point of view does not make credited news agencies retarded.
piwright42 3 years ago 2
You should read more and type less till you have an actual comprehension of the facts. Perhaps then I could carry a higher respect for your pathetic debate skills.
piwright42 3 years ago
But there is rumor that the market is so bad globally that even the Japanese will have to dip so far into their reserves that they will be forced to ask their government for a bailout. So support of the big three bailout could be a front to save face in the future. Look closer at the American "crap" and you will see that their games have stepped up considerably. Despite the UAW Chevy can undersell most Asian makes. Even the Europeans recognize the change on the American offerings.
piwright42 3 years ago

Kyu1LL 3 years ago
No it means Nissan won't be hypocrites any more by putting a feature on a car that they won't cover under warranty. While it would have been nice if they made the transmission more reliable, who wants to race a car with a guaranteed quater mile time? It takes all the skill out of the experience. I applaud Nissan for making the Spec-V a bit more purist.
piwright42 3 years ago
from what i'm reading...
Kyu1LL 3 years ago
A friend of mine owns a G35, beauty car. I don't think it is snobbish for you to demand proper service from a Nissan sales rep. The best way to get them to be real is to keep your cash in your pocket till they give you what you want. Personally I love the idea behind this car, I root for it. But I don't need "robo-launch" to make me look good off the line. I would buy a GTR but if I got one with Launch Control I would never use it.

They should let Chrystler go down. It is not as big as the other companies and they dont know how to make cars.
HellaRandomVideos 3 years ago

I wouldn't buy a car from any of these companies unless I had a reason to, like Matt stated if ZR1's bottomed out or something along those lines.

MonteSS86e 3 years ago
Ford is in better shape than the rest of the big 3 and are only asking for a credit line instead of a bailout. They even suffered less of a sales hit than toyota in november. I think the ceo's of the big 3 are getting their heads out of their asses but i just hope their not to late.
I would buy from a bankrupt company because i work on my own cars anyways and there is a huge after market out there to supply parts.

Cool update, still for dream fast, slick cars give me a ZR1 any day over GT-R, skylines etc
I'm sure GM will pull thru this crisis, not sure about Crystler and Ford though....I wish them the best.

If the price was low enough I would buy from bankrupt companies. Id treat the car like a grown up toy and throw it away when it gets broken.
StaticFalconar 3 years ago
I would buy from a bankrupt company. Chances are the prices would be cheap, and as for parts, there are so many companies out there selling every kind of part available. I mean I'm sure warranty's would be kind of a joke because the company won't even last 3 years or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first in those jets of theirs. But truth be told, I'd still buy from a bankrupt company. I take care of my cars and my cars take care of me.

The people who say the gov shouldnt bailout are only thinking of taxpayers. Theres also all the people who rely on the domestic brands.
TamiyaDude 3 years ago
While I do think the government should do a bailout this time, overall Bailouts should be avoided since it turns its back on the spirit of the Free Market. A company shouldn't just stick around because people depend on them; a company should stick around because its relevant to the market.
Otherwise lets all put our money in a Pyramid scheme and let the government bail us out when it collapses (drastic anecdote I know).
StaticFalconar 3 years ago

QOD: Sure, as long as there are still quality parts offered for the car (aftermarket or from the parts department) and they are willing to make a very big slash on the final price of their product (I would obviously have to be able to afford it), I would go for it.
Sidenote: Some of these companies that are building "sports cars," need to take a look at what Lotus has been building for the past 30 years (excluding the Mark 2 Elan).

I would totally buy a car from a company going bank rupt. I can fix a car, you get it cheap, 3rd party parts...not a big deal if its the car you really want.
virtualmatrix258 3 years ago
I certainly wouldn't buy a NEW car from a company at risk of bankruptcy because I'd want that warranty guarantee, but a few months back I bought a used Monte Carlo and I'd buy another used car from one of those three companies assuming parts are still in production.

i would buy a car from a bankrupt company if that company could make a good car, unfortunately GM and Chrysler have especially failed at producing much of anything that has impressed me and Ford is not doing that much better, though i like ford's idea of bringing the european styling to the US.

Abe4racing 3 years ago
they did not wanted to learn about the past they kept building big boring cars and expensive too now they want to make nice looking eficient cars. these people are so uptight that they have critize one of the best cars they have made in a long time the G8,becouse it is not all american, sorry for the people loosing their jobs but they are going under let them

citi0rhythm 3 years ago
on the qotd: If ford went bankrupt then I would consider it as they have some nice cars through the whole range.

I am more interested on what the next gen Elise will look like and I hope they dont ruin it cuz I think they hit the nail with the current design, I mean it's a 9 year old car and it still looks freaking rad.
