Rodney Mullen is a real skater, (oldschool skater) and he skates because he truly loves skateboarding and he doesn't care what people think about him. If you think about it, there are very few people that are actually like Mullen, the majority of skaters are the ones in the second example that I mentioned.

So you don't have to hate skateboarding, just the people that make it look bad.
