@bazza270577 They made a really big deal out of him changing compared to last time. It was very emotional. I almost cried! not really but I could have if I wanted to
dunno why you are gettin thumbed down pal. the new regeneration sux. the point of him being on the floor is the trauma. also every doctor has regenerated differently
Thanks. It sickens me that the kids who say "David Tennant is my Doctor" base that admiration NOT on how he cleverly outwitted foes throughout three seasons, but how pretty, funny, sexy, pitifully lonely, magically enchanted, and oh, lets not forget he's a Time Lord. RTD WAY too often had The Doctor using Time Lord as bragging rights...while it IS something to brag about, bragging isn't a Gallifreyan's nature. As well as how dramatically heart-wrenching he was towards his companions....
We all have "our Doctor"....I'm kinda of a tie between T. Baker and Davison. But the difference between Omega and I is that our reasons for picking those Doctors are 100% related to what DW is about....the reasons newbies pick Tennant as their Doc is the same reason chics my age in the 90s picked Luke Perry on Beverly Hills 90210. Get my drift?
That was supposed to read, the difference between Me/Omega and the newbies....so now Moffat is reintroducing heavy doses of Troughton/Baker/Davison and the result is more of what us classic fans are familiar with....the newbies don't have their modern day "suit and tie" Doctor anymore, so they shun the return of the past - bottom line, Series 5 of DW has EVERY RIGHT to be like the classic series, because kids, it was like THAT FIRST. 4 yrs of NuWho VS. 40 yrs. of Classic? Get real people.
finally someone with common sense. i shake your hand. (lol) i really think the only reason newbie who's don't like matt smith is cos they worship tennant and don't like matt smith's "professor" look which i think is a mix of 2nd doctor and indiana jones (teacher)
To be honest, Matt Smith is already trying too hard to fill DT's shoes. He is copying all of the eccentric-ness, the fast speech, the running around crazily etc. He should just create his own character instead of trying to follow the previous Doctor.
I don't have to - you only need to read the comments - granted, there are a few young fans that love the series, and not the actor - my quiz has proved that. A 15 year old scored a whopping 90% on my quiz that spans DW from '63 til now. But there are others, who write comments like, "I miss David - this new guy looks stupid." Or "What is the new guy wearing?? What happened to the handsome suit?" or "Tennant is so delicious." Those people couldn't tell you anything about THE SERIES.
The Doctor MAKES the series. If you have a crap actor as the Doctor, the entire series is ruined, no matter what supporting actors there are, what awesome new effect or monsters etc. Tennant was undeniably a great actor, and made the Doctor a very interesting character. Its all very well saying the series is most important, but what makes the series great is the actors.
but the reason i say david is my doctor is because thats the point i started watching it really (well i did watch chris but wasnt into it as much) and i call him my doctor because he was the current doctor when i was watching it
The place that there filming looks pretty familar. There filming were one of the doctor who episodes was filmed, from series three, the family of blood, when The Doctor and Martha go to watch the boy (forget his name) as an old man now, they saw him with the watch The Doctor gave him....
Is the first episode set in the 90's? I'm seeing post offices and things and things at the same time as seeing modern day things, which together fall into the 90's category of life in general.
Hmm, it started off alright, but I thin kthat the whole going to sleep thing won;t be true... Though it might. The whole first line thing seems a bit trange though. I hope that it isn;t that, even though I wouldn;t mind it.
i like how it is, i mean a new tardis, matt smith's version in episode 1 being damaged and the ending on the 2009/2010 double finale and of course the huge time-twist that somehow brings back the timelords.
Really? From the reaction on Gallifrey Bae, a lot of people are going to be in tear, me, probably not, but with tears i nmy eyes, lol. What have you heard?
Yes, I get a feeling like that too. That it will be very 'new'. But then whe nI thin kthis, like jus then, it makes me sad to think that David Tennant and his era will be forgotten, after all the special events, all the big Doctor who events when he was the Doctor, all of the hype around 'The Next Doctor', everything! :( Thanks for the comment.
Oh god, don't people ever get tired of saying that the good old days were better? Compare DW to One Tree Hill is such a disgrace. Humour and relationships add layers to the show. Now that the doctor is "not so cute anymore", its gonna be so much better... COME ON!
Well, then your argument obviously considers what RTD did to Doctor Who a DISGRACE, because thats exactly what it was - so much focus went into the Doctors personal relationships, that the initial premise was lost, and people no longer sat and discussed "how to beat the Daleks, or Cybermen, or whatever scenario was given - little girls sat in their bedrooms wondering how long poor Rose would have to suffer, wondering if The Doctor felt the same way and if he would ever express his feelings...
That is a pathetic excuse to watch a show like Doctor Who. That's like saying you only stayed tuned to the next episode of Blake's 7 to see if Avon would ever break out of his cold shell and express feelings for Cally. That didn't happen, because that wasn't the central plot of the show. DW is about a time/space traveller who disapproves of violence and prefers to think his way thru problems rather than blasting everything in sight. Given the lifespan and lifestyle that the Time Lord has,...
The Doctor, before and after the Time War, alone or not, has ALWAYS known that those two factors - (lifespan/lifestyle) are the very reason he cannot fall in love with anyone - especially a human, given their marginal lifespan compared to his. Thats why Who veterans cherish Moffat so much - because all of his stories, despite containing some very provactive characters, has always kept the focus of the 45 mins on the initial plot, with no soapy subplots winding back and forth.
Its very ironic that so much of Series 5 looks like REAL DOCTOR WHO, and not the One Tree Hill stuff we've been seeing - and the last "classic Who" was the 1996 Movie with Paul McGann. Ironic that the first episode with Moffat at the helm takes place a year before the movie was set.
What do you mean, 'Real Doctor Who'? This has bee nthe real doctor who, some of the best of DW. I personally thin kthat all of these guys wh othin kthat we need a new Tardis to look like the inside of the classic one, for us to have a logo that looks like the classic one etc need to move on, really. :)
I mean real Doctor Who because based on all of the information I have thusfar on Series 5, it will be what fans of classic Who, which were the only kind of fans at the time, were expecting in 2005. DW doesn't have to butchered by modern sci-fi like Battlestar Galactica was just to be "cool sci-fi" for the manly man and the soccer moms. If it had stayed true to its heritage in the beginning, the number of fans that liked it(veterans and some newbies) would outnumber the nay sayers by far.
And when asked why they liked the series, they're answers wouldn't have been, "because David Tennant is so cute," or "because I still think Rose and Tehe Doctor will get together," or "that show cracks me up," or "I really hope the Doctor finds someone..he's so lonely..." UTTER NONSENSE. None of those reasons were remotely related to what the original concept was about - sci-fi for those who took notions like time and space travel, transcendental engineering, and life on other worlds seriously.
I have not been able to see a lot of the older episodes but I've seen enough to know that it was brilliant. However, I love the 'New Doctor Who.' Why? Because I believe in other worldly life and time travel but I also believe in basic emotions. One of the best things about the New Who is the ranges of emotions that the Doctor experiences. The romance between him and Rose added even more levels to the Doctor. Remember this series takes place AFTER the Time War. Of course things would be different
Hey Arnold!! Move it football head! You're blocking my view of the tube and "Waters of Mars" comes on tonight! I certainly don't need some immature brat coaching me on my sex life with insults. I AM a real DW fan, because inspite of NuWho's failings, I still watch and accept it - unlike kids like you who obviously just popped out of your moms - who dismiss the past like it does't matter...MOTHER FUCKER, IF IT WASN'T FOR THE PAST, YOU WOULDN'T HAVE A FUCKING PRECIOUS DOCTOR WHO!!!!!!!!
Mid 90's, huh? Awesome. How can you tell it's mid-90's?
