I bought one of these from my local gunshow for $115 despite what ive read about them...iam very impressed by this thing,it cycles more smooth then a mossberg, never had any ejection problems besides almost breaking a lamp because i pumped a full shell to fast lol,the tube is raw on mine do to the one arm...i have the 5 shot tube with the gigantic 28 1/2" ? barrel wich i had chopped down to a perfect home defense size of 18 3/4"...probably gonn ahave it tapped for a mossberg side saddle
@Jake64676 Yeah Bro!!! You definitely "get it". I'm glad that you got a smooth running S&W shotgun.......because having a good running one is a dream. They just plain ol' ROCK!! And the fact that you've trimmed yours down to 18 3/4" is, in my book, AWESOME!! Sounds to me like you got one bad-ass shotgun, got it for a killer price, and have modified it to allow its true potential to shine. GREAT comment Jake64676!!! Take Care Bro,
@Jake64676 Update: side saddle is attached but not with supplied hardware....just decided to go the easy route and get some ind. strength velcro. The mossberg action seems to closely resemble the smith (at least pin and screw placement). numrich gun parts has an amazing selection of sapre parts for these...also the pump sleeve of a mossberg 500 is little bigger then the sleeve on the smith so with a little shimming i believe you can fit any mossberg pump/ accessory to the smith.
I have one, but mine has darker wood with a rubber shock absorber on the end of the stock.I inherited it and it's hasn't been fired for at least 30 years, needless to say its in perfect shape.I have done some reading and it looks like it was prone to failure.I quess I should fire it to see if the thing even works,....lol
Yours looks better than mine. Mine is the Eastfield (also S&W) version with the same sized barrel and a bead site. Mine is also pitted here and there, looks like somebody stripped the bluing and used flat black spraypaint on it. As for aftermarket I grabbed a UTG shotgun light mount and machined it down to use on this, but that's all I can do. ATI doesn't even make anything or know anything on if their parts will fit on there. (might just try some weekend) good luck finding info.
wow somebody else has one too,had mine about 20 yrs works good, mine has on the barrel proof tested 3 inch cylinder and bore also mine holds 8, 2.3/4 and 7, 3 inch mag. same size barrel not sure why yrs hold 6, nice video
P.S. I couldnt get anything out of S&W either when I called them on the 5903 SSV. They seem unusually uninterested about their , what should be proud, past. At this point Id be interested in getting some kind of book that covers everything, handguns and long guns, including values. Theres got to be some kind of gun bible out there that Im not aware of. Anyone?
I love odd ball guns, and you sir have one.Id leave as is,no need for plastic furniture its sexy as is lol.You said it holds 5 + 1,Id bet if you took the end off of the tube theres a wooden or plastic dowel that you could remove so it could hold more, being its a 20" barrel...I have a Winchester 12g Defender pump thats a lil odd ball,I l love it.Dont get me wrong I love Remington 970's too but my Winchester is a beast LOL! ANyway cool video bro!!!!
I'm by no means a shotgun expert, but that looks pretty nice, nothing fancy, but it looks like a stout & sturdy shotty. Wouldn't mind having one myself. Great vid bro!!
Dude quick internet check..S&W lost their ASSES on this gun..some were ok, but by and large such massive POS's they almost did a buy back to save their reputation. they were replaced by imports from HOWA of Japan...
it's a shoot and leave stuck in the zombie's head gun...
Trade it for a used REM 870 at a gun show/store and then pay the difference, you wont look back
I sent you two links to your PM about the shotgun. Hope it helps. Thanks for the review and sharing what you know about the gun. Thanks again for posting and sharing with us.
That's a really cool old shotgun man, I had no clue smith and wesson made shotguns! Thanks so much for the shoutout and featuring my video on your channel. You are the mostest awesomerest dude ever!
Nice shirt bro! Got to get me one to go with my hat. Here's a good thread I found after you sent the PM vid. I just PM'd you a thread from a forum about the 916A.
S&W bought the Noble tooling, machinery and parts, etc. in 1969, when Noble went out of business, and came out first with the S&W "Eastfield" model, which was was a design improvment to the Noble gun in 1972. This was soon changed to the Models 916 and 916A and continued until 1980 when the gun was dropped and a new model was made in Japan for S&W.
I have a 20 g916a i like it!

It wasn't actually made by S&W. It was a sub contract. It was such a failure that S&W had considered buying back all the 916's produced.

Try Numrich gun parts corp., they look like they have a diagram and parts online

I actually was offered one of those for $100; however, their reputation of being a total POS made me think better of it. So I passed.

Try Numrich Gun Parts. I doubt that there is any aftermarket stuff for it, but Numrich has a pretty wide selection of obscure gun parts.
