all you need to do is remove the hands that is a telechron clock the motors can fetch 75 bucks easy. know you have a radio that is not worth everything. clocks don't have enough radiation to hurt as long as you make jewelry out of them
you can seal the paint with supper glue but I would not throw it out and ruin the radio just don.t eat the paint. LOL I have a lot of clocks and some of then have glow paint on them I also have 3 trav-ler radios that use this same clock and know telechrons are not to be thrown away.
@Huffdev, yes, I am. The radioactive paint is 50 or something years old and it dust, when you handle it. If tiny bit is breathed in or swallowed it will be on or in body sells. That is enough to start sell mutation, you know what I mean.
@GT310B you mean cell? just wondering... but yeah its the same as ultraviolet radiation: thats why here in aus we are all told to 'slip slop slap' refering to sunscreen. even before you start to burn (burning is from nonionizing) your skin cells are in trauma, and just one mutated cell can cause a melonoma :O
From Lowell, IN. eBay item #330274002551 Tra-Vler clock radio model 5182 from late 40s, I guess. Radioactive material was used to make hands glow in the dark.

Theoretically this clock are safe but after 50 years hands can produce dust which could be worse then wearing clock jewelry.
