  • Uhhhhh.....SIMON really makes me smile!!!!! <3. No one can beat the 80's especially DURAN DURAN!!!!! ^_^

  • @jazz84xoxo I agree with you. Nicole

  • Pissweak cover of origional, sorry Duran Duran fans

  • saw them a year or so ago, just get better with age........

  • Fabulous!! I love them all but Andy is adorable! Thank God for You Tube.

  • Stupid question but,,,, did Simon write this? Is this DD's?

  • @Zigazigah99

the song is 'Make Me Smile' from Steve Harley & Cockney Rebel

  • @Zigazigah99 It's from Steve Harley

  • @Zigazigah99 oh, thanks.

  • Ahhh reliving my youth!

  • i think this exact recording is on the B-side of 'the reflex' single. I had it as a teen..played the fuc* out of it lol. DURAN DURAN was theee band!

  • Sometimes i wish we had some sort of timemachine.... To go back to see this live, and be part of it.

  • Yea I agree totally!

  • Thank you big sis for showing me this song...my most favorite song by dd.

  • wonderful what they did to this song !!!

    So much energy :)

  • The best version!!!!

  • Fantastic reminds me of the 1980s good times : )

  • i used to play this more than the a side the reflex

  • @duranasty yeah, the reflex was kind of worn out..i played this side with the reflex b version all the time. great era in music.

  • I remember queing up for about 7 hours outside the Apollo in Manchester to get tickets.... was it worth it? Damn right. The next time I saw them; a few clicks on the comp and off to the MEN. They never played this on any of the times I went to see them. Shame. What a group!!!!!

  • I am sooooo glad this is here. I had this on record. I have loved this song so much.

  • I always thought Duran Duran was a wimpy pop band. And then, I saw them live. I have loved that memory. For some reason no recording ever captures it. AWESOME band.

  • This cover is as much an improvement on the original as the Sisters Of Mercy's cover of Hot Chocolate's "Emma". Absolutely brilliant.

  • This sounds like the same track included on the soundtrack of "Threesome."

  • what's the problem with simon? everybody think that simon is a bad singer, i don t care... duranduran rules the world, simon too

  • Andy is amazing on lead guitar

  • wasnt this from a hammersmith concert in london that was shown on channel 4 something about the baddie from barbarella (duran duran) being after the fans of the group

i remember getting a 1hour video tape and recording it from channel 4 and this was one of my fav song from this

also it was the first time id heard the chauffeur as well and loved that

  • ah,come on... it's not that bad..

  • Wow... your comment tells me that you dont know good music and that you really are a fag.

  • excellent reprise (awsome cover)

  • Best performence ever by DD

    Perfection+

  • WOW!! That is so great to see this video!! :) :) :) :) What a great song!! Thank you:)

  • I was 8 when they did this...I was so curious to see how they performed then..I wish it was better quality...I am looking forward to the live at hammersmith dvd release coming out this month..September.

  • it is the audio to this clip it's just out of sync

  • Nice hats, John and Andy!

  • Splendid cover version of a fine song!

  • pure perfection. i loved duran duran in the 80s and i still do. great stuff boys!!!

  • this is the best Duran song ever

  • i always thought i was the greatest duran fan in the 80s but NEVER heard this song before...

  • Got that 12". Don't think this was the concert used. Have to dig out my old turntable and give it a listen!

  • cor gawjus si si

sorry just a nick name i had for him in the 80s

  • EMI is getting ready to release it. You don't have to buy a crappy bootleg anymore.

  • REALYY!!??

  • I have this concert on DVD for sale, please contact me at rosolanko(at)rocketmail(dotcom).

  • this song is on the b side of the reflex 12"..love it

  • love, love, love, duran duran, rock on!!

  • Duran Duran the 80´s would´nt be the same without them :-)

  • Thank YOU for posting this....on my 40th birthday I became a 14 year old girl again...and you made me SMILE. <3 Simon 4ever.

  • 15msd i hear you. what the F is this band doing taking direction from those people who don't know shit about good music!!! Duran Duran were some of the greatest forefathers of skilled craftmanship and true creativity!

  • OMG I heard this cover bad, I just wasn't expecting it to be this bad. I hope Steve Harley got plenty of royalty cheques, he deserves some consolation for having his song murdered.

  • I checked out the original.. Actually kind of groovy!

  • Steve Harley/Cockney Rebel sang the original....

  • Better than the original!

  • who sang this song originally then?

  • Steve Harley and Cockney Rebel♥

  • Fair play to the guys, they've made the song their own unlike most bands who do covers, and I know Im gonna get bad ratings for this, but Steve Harley makes this song. You can never ever ever better the originals.

  • One of my favourite songs!!! Simon's voice and dancing are amazing and John is a fab bass guitarist!!!!

  • I love all the fedoras in the audience!!! Too funny!

  • This is the original version off the reflex single-the audio is not live-this is the number one band out there-this song and all thier other early ones, show that they do not need Justin timberlake(yuck) or that fatass timbaland helping them!!! dont know why duran duran got involved with them :(

  • 4:17 looks like Angus Young from ACDC !

  • I think Andy Hamilton(the bands Sax Player) is playing piano on this.

  • Im sure the piano part was on tape - nick was not playing that part

  • VARIETY is the key :) ....as long as a person can sing well and hold the key I don't think there could ever be a bad version of this song.....a timeless classic. I personally belive Duran Duran did an exemplary job of pulling it off. BRAVO! and thank you. I enjoyed it immensley and have saved it in my playlist. Love, Stefanie xOxOxOx

  • Who plays the piano on this one?

    Must be playback, innit?

  • Nick plays a keyboard and it is a piano

  • BS, look at 1:42 to 1:43

The piano is loud and clear and N Bates is messing around like some kind of sound engineer. TOTALLY FAKE!!

  • The nice TIMES! Yes make mi SMILE :)!

  • Dude that was over 20 yers ago...she does not look like that anymore...!

  • I am officially in love with the girl in green at 4:41. Anyone know who she is?

  • I remember watching this full concert on MTV..way back in like 1982. I had a copy on a Beta tape. Being this was taped in the early 80's and before digital was available. on a video tape like VHS/Beta there are 2 layers audio and video and over time and stretch out, causing the delay in either one or both. I don't know if that helps.

  • simon le bon was so good looking when he was young

  • Beautiful band. I like their simplicity, yet always looking smart and clean. Love them!

  • Beautiful!

  • Im sure its fantastic live but I`ve heard a far better version by them.... Tbh by comparison, this was a disappointment.

  • this is the best version i've heard on youtube.

  • the reflex single import

  • what record is this song off of???? i have all of them .........never heard of this one!!!

  • Then you DONT have all of them.:) Easy to miss tho. This exact version is on the flip side of "The Reflex" 12" single. So its on the singles box set, and on any bootleg singles collections.

  • Carnival

  • I wish they would release Carnival on CD.

  • OMG it was twenty-six years ago! How the time passes...

  • AWESOME, my fav Duran song of all time, just breathtaking xxx

  • How I wish I could have seen them live back in the 80's! If only I had been born a few years sooner.

  • This is what it's all about. Love them!

  • I saw this performed by DD, when I was 12 years old, on November 20th 1982. I most upset that I was the only person in the audience in Southampton who didn't know WTF they were singing! The crowd were going mad for it!

  • Orginele van Steve Harley is mooier

    maar mooie cover

  • I remember when this aired on MTV! Great band, Great Time!!!

  • Excellent performance!

  • I like this song too, very relaxing.

  • excellent,, one of my very fave Duran songs.

  • In fact is a cover...but they play it excellent!! Better than the original!!

  • Great song and video. Wished the audio matched the video, but that's OK. I've had this song since I first bought the Reflex single back in '83 (it was a b side), and have loved it since. To this day, 24 years later, Duran still is one of the most innovative and underrated bands out there.

  • Great cover by a band I was too ashamed to admit liking back then. Not now with all the dross around!
