I believe the universe did start out as spare dust, but the story is much more complicated than that. First, the dust collapses from gravity to create a very big star, which goes supernova. If there was not a supernova, we wouldn't have heavy elements like gold

@priva1tm Unless we know for sure on how the DNA is read, I don't think we can make any assumptions on what mutations are likely, and which are not likely. We aren't quite at that level of understanding yet. The thing about evolution though... it doesn't require an intelligent designer.

@Novatene "faith" is belief in a concept without evidence. This is not hard wired, this is implanted during indoctrination in childhood. Humans are naturally incluned to seek answers using the evidence they are presented with, there is no question about that. Early cultures did not have the capacity to understand the world around them and so used religious stories to explain things as best they could. Religion was also used to rule over people, such as in the middle ages after the fall of Rome.
@kilroy055 Faith uses evidence but not proof. Proof gives knowledge, evidence can lead to faith. I have faith the ancient people were made by the divine presence and that there beliefs came from the revelation of that presence to them. And God is revealed to people in Biblical events, like the Exodus, and the lives of the prophets and apostles after and including the Christ. There is evidence occurring still today. The ancients, first peoples held faith in one God.

@ezra0618 Actually, evolution is an observable and testable phenomonon and one that scientists have come to accept as a scientific fact. It does not say humans "came from apes" as religious people often assert but rather mutated over time from a common ancestor that we share with apes. We have fossilized transitional forms such as Homo Habilis and Homo Erectus that support this concept. Please research what the theory of evolution actually says (and not on a creationist website).

They would not have recorded "ape like" ancestors because that stage of evolution occured long before people had the capability to speak or write. @nexxuslord You can't expect every single individual in the species that played a role in the evolutionary transformation to exist in the fossil record. Fossilization is extremely rare, and only one out of many dead oragnisms will be fossilized. We do have fossilized evidence of the key stages in the organism's evolution, and from those we can figure out how it evolved. We do not need any "god magic" to explain how evolution occurred, it is all very logical and scientific.

@nexxuslord Evolution can be proved. It is quite elementary to show how the concept works, if you will only open your ears and stop shooting down any chance of learning how it works. Science says nothing about the "spiritual aspect of life", and in fact the leader of the Human Genome Project that used evolutionary principles was Christian. A person may be angry or happy and that would not lend anything to the argument regarding whether or not god exists. @Novatene "faith" is belief in a concept without evidence. This is not hard wired, this is implanted during indoctrination in childhood. Humans are naturally incluned to seek answers using the evidence they are presented with, there is no question about that. Early cultures did not have the capacity to understand the world around them and so used religious stories to explain things as best they could. Religion was also used to rule over people, such as in the middle ages after the fall of Rome.

@kilroy055 Faith uses evidence but not proof. Proof gives knowledge, evidence can lead to faith. I have faith the ancient people were made by the divine presence and that there beliefs came from the revelation of that presence to them. And God is revealed to people in Biblical events, like the Exodus, and the lives of the prophets and apostles after and including the Christ. There is evidence occurring still today. The ancients, first peoples held faith in one God.

For the LORD Gods rendition of creation at the start of 2:4 is in complete contradiction to Gen1. Interestingly though Gen 1 makes a nearly perfect sense So complety opposite creation stories and one side is good the other are bad so judge by the fruits of their labor. If the serpent is the bad guy then Gen1 is bad if the LORD God is Bad so is Gen2:4-.

@ezra0618 Actually, evolution is an observable and testable phenomonon and one that scientists have come to accept as a scientific fact. It does not say humans "came from apes" as religious people often assert but rather mutated over time from a common ancestor that we share with apes. We have fossilized transitional forms such as Homo Habilis and Homo Erectus that support this concept. Please research what the theory of evolution actually says (and not on a creationist website).

@ezra0618 That's easy to explain. It's called progress... the fact that something was written a long time ago means that its authors probably had LESS knowledge of the world than we do. They would not have recorded "ape like" ancestors because that stage of evolution occured long before people had the capability to speak or write. The Bible is not the world's oldest book, by the way. Didn't you go to school? It was written after the Roman Empire, only 2000 years ago. Many books came before that.

Because of this, the organism is more likely to have offspring and therefore pass on the gene. This is a real test of evolution in action, and it shows how the concept works.

@nexxuslord You can't expect every single individual in the species that played a role in the evolutionary transformation to exist in the fossil record. Fossilization is extremely rare, and only one out of many dead oragnisms will be fossilized. We do have fossilized evidence of the key stages in the organism's evolution, and from those we can figure out how it evolved. We do not need any "god magic" to explain how evolution occurred, it is all very logical and scientific.

If we only need science to explain the process of evolution, at what point must God enter into the process? If something is unescessary, it is discarded. Like those who used to say God lifted the sun into the sky each morning, other religious injections into scientific ideas are unneeded.

The only ones who are "institutionalized" are the religious with their indoctrinated children. Science says nothing about the "spiritual aspect of life", and in fact the leader of the Human Genome Project that used evolutionary principles was Christian. If you can't measure something, by the way, it isn't there.

And it helps me keep the balance, and a cool head when being bombarded with stressful situations. It's like your own personal imaginary friend, back in the day when you were afraid of the dark. The gospel of John lays it all out as plain as it can be. Jesus, he good shepherd, prays for his sheep, but doesn't pray for the world (those who are not His sheep). A person may be angry or happy and that would not lend anything to the argument regarding whether or not god exists. This is a common tactic of the religious to attack the person and say that there is something wrong with them rather than actually confronting the arguments against their chosen deity.

Its not just a particular religion, in fact Satan has done a great job inventing many types of religions and the word "religion". And what Jesus did was stand in our place and take the punishment that was meant for us so we can be made pure.

I dont think there is a Satan and not God. One cool documentary to watch is Megiddo: The March to Armageddon its about 2 hours long but is very interesting and worth your while.

@JudeAballer What makes you so sure that Satan exists? Because you see evil in the world does not prove that a divine being is causing it. What you define is evil is simply human weakness. We are not perfect beings, and if we were created in the likeness of one we would be. You also cannot be sure God exists based on the fact that you believe Satan exists. One does not prove the other; even if there were a devil his existence would provice no proof for an entirely seperate being, God.

@ezra0618 There is no such thing as evil. We define certain actions as against a moral code, but that definition differs between groups of people and even individuals. I don't know why you asked if an animal believes in God, because the answer is no. Animals have a very practical and purpose-specific thought process, and that does not include philisophy or religion. Dogs protect their masters because they have are pack animals and have a loyalty to their percieved pack leader, their master.

Then, you say this somehow relates to the Bible... From what I gather, you think humans are vastly different from other animals. We are not, however. It is a contradictory collection of Bronze Age mythical documents that has been mistranslated and corrupted over thousands of years and shown to be historically and logically inaccurate. If a captain of a ship has one requirement for you as a crew member to be allowed on board and that is not to sin, sure you have free will to do as you please but if you choose to disobey the one rule and sin, you are not allowed to be apart of the crew. As a result you will be in the water where you cant survive for long on your own. The captain sends a lifesaver (Jesus) hoping you willfully accept it and live.
