@ohfilms1 yeah because this one looked soooo much better then the 1998 one, really what is the difference? Corny bad acting? nope, bad script? nope, effects? well the 1998 version is way better in that department.
If i had written this, i would have left King Ceasar out, and Gigan. When they send a monster after the humans ship going to release Godzilla, it should have been King Gahdora, who gets his middle head blown off. In the final battle, the monster from the Astroid should have been an alien that scans Godzillas DNA and make Space Godzilla. Gahdora is repaired as Mecha Gahdora, who fights Mecha Godzilla, who would have been mentioned earlier in the movie as a new monster killing vehicle.
I only saw the first half if the movie and hated it, but once everything blew up it got better. Oh yeah, I thought it sucked be a stereotyped American, but I saw how bad the American Godzilla was, and it made me hate my country even more.

You do realise the monsters are rubber suits?Transformers is different.Thats CGI and thats where graphics and realism matter.Its not a big problem when working with CGI.Here its rubber suits.In my opinion its not the best graphics movie.I dont think it blows.Transfomers 2 was only bad for its acting and plot.The special effects were great.
@MrSamas35 Cloverfield is also a monster movie but it doesn't use rubber suit. This movie, supposedly made in 2004, is using the same shitty technology used back in 1980s. I just showed this trailer to 5 random people who have not seen it before, and I made them guess when this movie is made, they all tell me 1980s or 1990s. That just show u how bad this movie is in terms of graphics. First Godzilla movie was nice, but after 20+ years, this one just totally blows. Nothing original.
Rubber suits, animatronics, make up>cgi. At least for monster movies. i like things with actual weight and feel and try to think of all the creative ways they use their stuff when they make a movie. plus the cheese factor is awesome. For example, the alien franchise or the thing 1982 are much more effective than virtually any of teh cgi monsters you see today.

There's A LOT of human scenes in the older movies, they had enormous plots that centralized around human characters with a lot of shoot outs. This movie just kicked it up a notch with modern martial arts.
Also saying something Japanese ripped off the Matrix, when the Matrix drew all of it's inspiration from anime is kind of ridiculous. Matrix just showed that you can pull that stuff off with Live Action. Kitamura's been doing it for ages. Look up Versus & Azumi.
Will you people stop dissing our american reinvention?! As i matter of fact, the producers played the film for the heads at toho, and they approved, saying that ours still held the true spirit! So if you don't know, just shut up!
This Movie is totally Better Than any other godzilla movie..because mostly all the other godzilla movies look like they didnt work well on the specail effects and bad acting in some of them...but in Final Wars u have everything a movie needs! first you see godzilla in the beginning..next thing u know we dont see him anymore with monsters bring an end to cities around the world..next you know Aliens show up and now that the human race is about to End...and than godzilla is unfrozen to kick ass!!!

I have to admit that Final Wars was the best out of all of them. Also made one hell of a tribute!

I never understood the appeal of Godzilla movies. The 1954 original isn't bad, but all these countless sequels? They just look all the same to me: a guy in a rubber suit fighting guys in more rubber suits around miniature sets. How did this franchise last so long?
so why is it that after decades of godzilla, he still looks like the same cheasy looking suit? You'd think they'd make it look at least a little better...Personally I prefer the godzilla that had purple spikes that glowed when he used his fire breath stuff (I think it was Godzilla 2000).

What I usually hate about CG is that it's just something that exists in the camera, not something that stands right in front of you. You're just talking to thin air, but when there's like some guy in a costume or a puppet like Yoda from the original Star Wars trioligy, it's easier to communicate and show emotion.

@aq4930 Yeah, I really feel like all the human action completely overshadowed the monster action. The production value and basic scenario of this movie was cool, but the monster fights were way too short. Destroy All Monsters in 1969, was much better IMO, because most featured monsters really got to shine. The fights here were too short, and it sucked to see once worthy adversaries and allies of of Godzilla go down so quickly in this movie.
@ScrapBrainLongIsland I didn't mind that much.. I'd put this a cut above DAM because it had more monsters. Yes, DAM had that nice "beating on the great villain" thing, but if you want a final movie, you need everyone, and there can be no final Godzilla movie without Gigan. He came after DAM I know, but he made a difference somehow. By being awesome. I think that for the real last one they should get EVERY DAMN MONSTER EVER TO BE IN A GODZILLA MOVIE and have them fight, almost no humans.
@AspectofTimeNozdormu A final movie that features all monsters at the point of this movie was too much. You had a lot of great monsters but had to jam them into one movie. It could have worked in 3 parts. Gozilla, Mothra, Rodan, Anguirus, King Cesar as good guys, Gigan, MechaGodzilla, King Ghidorah as alien invaders. And then the random mutant monsters just out for blood. Kind of like the game Godzilla Unleashed. It would have been a much better concept for an "all monsters" kind of movie.
@aq4930 I think this movie had a similar problem to Revenge of the Fallen, which had too many bots and too much focus on humans, while this had too many monsters and too much human focus.
of course GODZILLA kicking ass is always epic, let's hope the 2012 movie hits the nail by giving godzilla longer fights and the humans are reduced to the army.

What makes a good story is it's believability. It has to be something like the first pokemon episode, when you're seriously uninformed about the real world, and think that that shit really exists. (Just an example that many should be able to relate to... or they seriously have no childhood and should be pitied, or maybe are just old farts that won't bother with youtube comments). This trailer is just so out of this world that NOBODY will accept it as plausible. Hence, its bleh...
@AshXXMayftw He was going to be in the movie, along with Kiryu, the third Mechagodzilla, but they took them out because they couldn't feel they had purposes. Although, it would have been cool if they had Mothra fight Gigan, Kiryu fight Ghidorah, and Godzilla agains this ultimate foe, Destroyah!

Just wondering, is this a good movie? Or do the special effects ruin it? I haven't seen any godzilla movie, except for the american one, so I don't know what to expect of it...

@thelyrons well CGI effects are worse than in the american version :D but story, plot and especially Godzilla is fuckin' way much better in japanese one :D in my opinion of course.

This movie was a pretty bad installement in the Godzilla franchise. Honestly, is time for Godzilla to leave Toho and go to a studio that really knows how to make respect to Godzilla

There's A LOT of human scenes in the older movies, they had enormous plots that centralized around human characters with a lot of shoot outs. This movie just kicked it up a notch with modern martial arts.
Also saying something Japanese ripped off the Matrix, when the Matrix drew all of it's inspiration from anime is kind of ridiculous. Matrix just showed that you can pull that stuff off with Live Action. Kitamura's been doing it for ages. Look up Versus & Azumi.

This Movie is totally Better Than any other godzilla movie..because mostly all the other godzilla movies look like they didnt work well on the specail effects and bad acting in some of them...but in Final Wars u have everything a movie needs! first you see godzilla in the beginning..next thing u know we dont see him anymore with monsters bring an end to cities around the world..next you know Aliens show up and now that the human race is about to End...and than godzilla is unfrozen to kick ass!!!

I've must have seen all the Godzilla movies since being a life long fan for 53 years.
I have to admit that Final Wars was the best out of all of them. Also made one hell of a tribute!
I'm thankful to have lived during his reign in the 60s & know many more will be made in future generations. But America leave it to the experts at Toho. (That American version was an insult!)

I never understood the appeal of Godzilla movies. The 1954 original isn't bad, but all these countless sequels? They just look all the same to me: a guy in a rubber suit fighting guys in more rubber suits around miniature sets. How did this franchise last so long?

so why is it that after decades of godzilla, he still looks like the same cheasy looking suit? You'd think they'd make it look at least a little better...Personally I prefer the godzilla that had purple spikes that glowed when he used his fire breath stuff (I think it was Godzilla 2000).

If i compared, i would choose Transformers 3 because it does a lot of mess to Chicago and this movie more showed the Xillians crap thing..

What I usually hate about CG is that it's just something that exists in the camera, not something that stands right in front of you. You're just talking to thin air, but when there's like some guy in a costume or a puppet like Yoda from the original Star Wars trioligy, it's easier to communicate and show emotion.

Damn this movie had all to be EPIC, But Toho messed it up so freaking bad adding those stupid human romance and figting scenes, I mean if i wanted to see some sci-fy king fu fights i would put on my DVD Matrix and motorcycle battles? just put final fantasy VII AC, romance? put titanic, Godzilla is about huge monsters beating the crap out of each other, stupid toho instead of those idiotic fights and forced romance , they should 'been used that time in longer monster

@aq4930 Yeah, I really feel like all the human action completely overshadowed the monster action. The production value and basic scenario of this movie was cool, but the monster fights were way too short. Destroy All Monsters in 1969, was much better IMO, because most featured monsters really got to shine. The fights here were too short, and it sucked to see once worthy adversaries and allies of of Godzilla go down so quickly in this movie.

@ScrapBrainLongIsland I didn't mind that much.. I'd put this a cut above DAM because it had more monsters. Yes, DAM had that nice "beating on the great villain" thing, but if you want a final movie, you need everyone, and there can be no final Godzilla movie without Gigan. He came after DAM I know, but he made a difference somehow. By being awesome. I think that for the real last one they should get EVERY DAMN MONSTER EVER TO BE IN A GODZILLA MOVIE and have them fight, almost no humans.

@AspectofTimeNozdormu A final movie that features all monsters at the point of this movie was too much. You had a lot of great monsters but had to jam them into one movie. It could have worked in 3 parts. Gozilla, Mothra, Rodan, Anguirus, King Cesar as good guys, Gigan, MechaGodzilla, King Ghidorah as alien invaders. And then the random mutant monsters just out for blood. Kind of like the game Godzilla Unleashed. It would have been a much better concept for an "all monsters" kind of movie.

@aq4930 I think this movie had a similar problem to Revenge of the Fallen, which had too many bots and too much focus on humans, while this had too many monsters and too much human focus.

What makes a good story is it's believability. It has to be something like the first pokemon episode, when you're seriously uninformed about the real world, and think that that shit really exists. (Just an example that many should be able to relate to... or they seriously have no childhood and should be pitied, or maybe are just old farts that won't bother with youtube comments). This trailer is just so out of this world that NOBODY will accept it as plausible. Hence, its bleh...

@AshXXMayftw He was going to be in the movie, along with Kiryu, the third Mechagodzilla, but they took them out because they couldn't feel they had purposes. Although, it would have been cool if they had Mothra fight Gigan, Kiryu fight Ghidorah, and Godzilla agains this ultimate foe, Destroyah!
