  • the first song is i think opium of people. i knoe its the song right after circle on the c-d

  • he looksy kinda heavier....but he is still so cute, man he is so awesome, he inspired me to pick up my drums again

  • agreed, he is a good drummer, but no one can compare to derek roddy

  • is he using ironcobra beaters on eliminators?

  • derek or joey?

    if you mean joey, then

i can't really see the beaters

but i've read joey uses eliminator

dunno, i don't think pearl would let joey use tama stuff

  • stop comparing they are who they are they drum how they drum and thats the way it is

  • the ending was weird but i think that if i practiced for like 5 years i could MAYBE go as fast as joey

  • hes playing welcome just in case none of you figured that out.

  • it makes me realise how slow i am,

  • Damn hes feet are fast!

  • I would love to be the camera man for that in the end lol^^

  • Okay, post a vid of you doing this solo.

If it's so easy, I wanna see you try.

  • No, I don't. I'll admit that I don't know the first thing about drums. I DO know that he can drum fast, and I have seen Slipknot in concert twice, so that isn't sped up or anything. I was just saying, if you think you can do better, I'd like to see it.

  • Really nice but i´am not very happy from this quality :(

  • I would do him, dude. Completely honest.

  • he's playimg welcome in the beginning of the video

  • i like his shoes... ^~^

  • joey ussses pearl master not export

  • Right now he uses references with gold hardware and black Paiste Rudes with Gold SlipKnoT logo on them.

  • joey fucking awesome drummer ... one of the best of the world ...

  • \M/

  • he's playing welcome from sublimal verses.

  • He has the best drums in the world ;)

  • he never used export, just made a signature set for the fans

  • joooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooey!

  • i luv joey jordison} he's the one and only

  • Ooooo!!

    He's so great! n_n

    Love him and SlipKnot^^ <3

  • sounds a bit apocalyptic :P

  • what is wrong with using triggers? all they do is send a singnal to a drum module to play exactly what you're playing. im sure he uses them on the bassdrums so they both sound the same, because otherwise its's almost impossible

  • Not always. Thats the difference betweena good drum tech and abad drum tech. Sure there is an art to tunign drums especially bass drums in a double kick set up. More often than not provided the 4 heads on the 2 kicks are tuned the same, EQ and dynamic processing removes any nuance anomalies so both efectivle do sound the same to the human ear once everything else is added to the mix.

  • the arial shot at the end is pretty sweet

  • w/p

  • no not the case at all as triggers are still 100% veloctiy sensitive. Thier actual "trigger" techology is actually called a "velocity switch". If your fitnes is lagging behind while playing causing you to have sloppy dynamics then a trigger setup will also translat that as well as on an acoustic set up unless youve specifically set it up to be devoid of any dynamic play which no serious drummer would do, especially at this level. Fitness has nothing to do with using triggers

  • And by the way, he doesn't use triggers!!!! He always uses mics for Slipknot in the studio and live. The only time he used triggers was live with Korn. But other than that, he doesn't.

  • wrong!, on the Iowa album international tour he used trigger's in his live setup for the kicks as did both percussionists for every piece of thier setup. They were all Ddrum triggers plugged into a Alesis D5 for trigger to midi convertion only as all actual drum samples were coming from an Akai S6000XL which had studio recorded samples for each strike taken during the recording sessions for Iowa. All 3 percussionist had a similar techincal set up but not the exact same.

  • Sigh, I'm getting tired of this. He hasn't. And if you think he does, show me some proof

  • Try 4 and a half weeks in Europe with my PA company (SSE)having seen the live setup firsthand each and every night on that leg of the tour. Listen kiddo just becasue you cant find any info about it on the web doesnt mean the production technology was not used. Fact, 99% of artists are advised to slightly change thier live technological set up when going on the road at that level due to logistics.

  • a 40,000 arena ALWAYS has dramatically different acoustics than a studio and not everything can translate to live efectivly as simply putting a mic in front of the source as in a studio. FACT

  • does nebody kno what kind of shoes he is wearing?

  • he's wearing Adidas shoes. He either wears Vans or Adidas shoes. =]

  • and joey, he kicks ass, maybe he uses triggers, but what the fuck, look at his hand talent, look at his carrer, he is better than all of you!

  • haha, you all say that triggers are for cheating, haha NO!

I use triggers myself, in background...

joey, he use it just because if you blast as fast as he does, it will just sound like a booooooooooooooooooom, but if you use a trigger it individualise every hit, and you can also have different settings on how sensitive the trigger should be, and it's actually harder to play if you got very sensitive triggers.

  • the reason pro's use triggers is becasue micing a standard batter head you lose the "attack" of the strike more and more with to speed, effectily choking the head, same reason guys in the know prefer to use 2 kicks, its not only for asthetics. as you hinted at, the other reason is due to power lost due to speed, very few guys can have both in a full acoustic setup, Trigger solve all of this as the audio in a triggered set up is a sample or recording in layman's terms.

  • o.k can sum1 tell me what a trigger is

  • trigger is a little microphone placed on drums. when you hit drums, it will send a signal to a computer and it will produce sound. that way you can play really silent and not spend energy because the computer makes the sound, you only trigger it.

  • so really it is like playing an electric kit

  • kind of

  • its exactly like a playing an electric kit because effectily it is! Its the exact same technology but adapted to be used on acoustic drums instead of mounted inside a specifically designed "electric" drum. The actual technolgy is the same who ever makes it however different people have slightly different designs which lend them selves better to some style of play than others and vice versa.

  • actually no its not a microphone its a sensor the detects vibrations.then sends the signal to a modual. but triggers are for those the cant very well, as they are cheating.

there are several fast drummers that dont use them. like Dave Lombardo, the guy can easily play as fast death metal drummers and sound nice loud and clear.

  • whats the point of having an acoustic set if your using triggers? why waste the effort using sticks or pedals.you can just tap everything.

    i personally despise the things.

besides the fact they sound fake and un-natural like a computer is playing not a human

  • not quite sure what trigger or electric setups youve ever heard or infact used but a correctly set up electric system sounds as good if not better than an acoustic setup 9time out of 10 due the fact they are studio samples deing used not synth sounds as earlier technology. MANY very seasoned pro's use triggers for any number of reasons. Almost always due to audio consistancy or acoustic consistancy in a live setup. ease of play is total irralivant if modual triggering parameters are set up right

  • youll be supprised to know that infact a microphone works in the exact same way as a trigger which also senses vibration and if you did plug a mic into a trigger input on a modual and turned the gain paramater up, talking into the mic will infact cause the modual to fire a sample.

  • yes i am aware the fact that a mic's and triggers to function in a similar fashion, but reproduce sounds completely different,

triggers absolutyly requir a modul to reproduce a sampled soundthen to the sound amplifier, and do requir less effort to ge a "FULL" sound,a mic all it needs is an amplifier, and you still have to play with way more effort to get the "full" sound.

  • a perfect example is Kolias and lombardo, lombardo can double pedal just as fast as kolias with "full" sound using only mic's, kolias could not get the "Full" sound with out using triggers.he soley rely's on iusing triggers to play as fast as he does.with out them he couldnt do it,only kit ive played thet was decent was the higher proiced roland TD's,everything else sounded way to robotic and was tooo easy to play.even on the roland TD's i had to use very little effort to get the "full" sound

  • thats right mate, thats because they are samples. Apart from the moduals dynamic sensing your consistantly getting the same sound every time. you gotta keep in mind Although lombardo is also one of my hero's he doesnt play anywhere near as fast on adverage as kolias in every track. The right tools for the right job and for ultra fast metal, which lets be honest slayer is not when compared to there are a heap of clarity issues the naturally hapen with speed choking the natural resonence of a head

  • what the fuck are you guys talking about. just watch him play . jeez

  • lol, sorry you cant keep up with the conversation.

  • lol yeh im dumb. what were you discussing anyway?

  • lol sorry if you though thats what i meant. Just talking about why people would use triggers. most guys on here seem to thing you dont have to actually play as good using them. no one seems to realise that if they are set up correctly as intended then your playing ability is as important as when playing on an accoustic kit to make them sound good

  • oh true. yeah of course you have to. im a drummer and its not easy to play triggers.

  • mi gustan sus zapatillas

  • yo las tengo jajajajaja

  • i love joey , he is da best

  • Aw man the last part was really the only interesting part!

  • There u c now this just goes 2 show that joey dosent use "trigger pedels" 2 all u faggots who hav bn postin in comments sayin that he does.

  • Joey does in fact use triggers. I'm a drummer.... lol. Do you even know what triggers are. Triggers are like special mics it makes your bass louder and you can customize the sound to your liking.... Some drummers cheat with them. Joey however, doesn't....

  • ha ha joey says he doesnt use triggers, and never will. he tunes the bass drums exactly to the same turn. i do that to and u can get basically the same sound from ur bass drums, try it.

  • just about every drummer uses them for speed!! not to cheat in anyway! people hear trigger and think thats it helps them in performance! we all know when u use your ankles for speed u loose that power kick from your leg a trigger helps with sound! people are stupid!

  • acutally dude he doesnt have only two hi hats. a regular one on the right then power hi hats on the left. i think wat ur looking at is his 16 inch crash, its used for blister exist and just to add more to the kit.

  • first song is "welcome"(first part), second part i dunno, and live concert is halfway the song "surfacing"

  • what he's doing is just a variation of the basic drum beat..... im a total noob at drums but i can even do that, save for for a few mistakes.

  • pause at 1:09 look he has 3 hi-hats. 13 Paiste signature power hh 14 and a 15.

  • he doesn't have 3 hi-hats. you're right about the 13" paiste signature and 14 paiste rude but which one's the third? you're probably looking at the 14" signature china he uses.

  • thats's pulse of the maggots the beginning at least i dunno bout the live concert

  • faggotmaggot..i seriously think you should go die. your the biggest dumbfuck ive ever heard. you have like 5 videos on your page making fun of joey..wtf do you have against joey anyways? i personally think your a jealous little emo bitch and wish you could drum like he can.

  • HE SUCKS PENIS

  • no man thats ur job if ur soo awsome try that stuf....exactly u cant so screw urself
