Thanks. Just got it last week and took some OK pictures, still learning. This video was perfect to "reset" my basic knowledge and what I should know starting out. I was still hoping you would touch more on +- and the fn buttons. I can read but these videos are better.

@karenncolorado if you watch my video titled Nikon D3100 back button focusing, then that will tell you what what that button does, and can do. In default mode, it locks the exposure or the focus, but you can change its function to a few other things.

Thanks this helped but I still want to know more about the 3 switches on the top right. 1 is vid and vid rec. I think but what's that af thing about next to the eye piece. I'm not sure but I like your detailed examples.

@zoemonkey199 I could, but it wouldnt be very long. Macro mode doesnt do anything other than change the shutter speed and aperture of the camera. You need a macro lens to do macro photography, or at least some sort of macro attachment like the Raynox DCR-250.

@StyIeAndSimplicity Im sure you'll love it! No I used the Nikon 16-35mm F/4 for that, as I dont have an adapter ring to fit the kit lens, only a 77mm for my other lenses.
