Turkey commited war crimes against the armenians and declared war against the entire armenian population. If the armenians did bad things that is also wrong but Turkey did them on a much larger scale than the armenians were capable of and therefore they take the vast majority of the blame.
"least relevant in the whole wide world"...ethnic cleansing....of course, the turks still continue ethnic cleansing, now against Kurds.
If someone were to ask about the PKK, which stopped existing in the 1990's, would he feel the same way? I'm certain he'd think that they still exist and are a great threat to the world...even though they DONT exist and only wanted rights WITHIN turkey (not even independence)
@marcusaurelius1221 First of all, when did the turkish government respect ANY cease-fire? Second, when did they negotiate with the PKK? Third, where are ANY of the INDIGENOUS peoples of the area? The only ones left are Kurds and they aren't allowed to speak their language, practice their traditions, or be Kurds.
If you don't know, go learn. The PKK is a development as a reaction to racist turkish policies, just as how during the Armenian genocide, some found weapons and fought back.
@theforgottenorg Listen son, the PKK broke the last cease-fire. I have no idea what you're talking about on that count.
The Armenians rebelled, 3 million Turks died and less than 1 million Armenians died. Do the math. All the Armenians who died were near the front. There was no genocide.
Furthermore, Kurds were responsible for a large number of the massacrese of Armenians which did occur. (Widespread fighting amongst ethnic groups does NOT equal a state sponsored genocide.)
WHAT CEASE-FIRE? Answer it, don't repeat it. The turk government never acknowledges cease-fires.
Armenians didn't rebel. Some Armenians terrorized the Ottomans but 99% of Armenians didn't support them. That's not a rebellion. Why would Armenians rebel when all their wealth is in hte ottoman economy? Also, they terrorized Armenians more than turks.
Armenian CIVILIANS died because of govt...not the same as turkish deaths.
@marcusaurelius1221 How did actually elder men, women and children joined the Russians or any other party whatsoever? Those were the majority of victims, so please informed yourself better.
@marcusaurelius1221 OF COURSE THERE WAS A GENOCIDE. It is not numbers that define genocide, even if there were only 300 armenians in the whole of Turkey, but they were been exterminated just because they were armenians (as it was actually done), then It was a Genocide (as it was). When defending the undefendable you are just taking the same role as Holocaust Denyers have been doing for the last 60 years.
Ya i was suprised also....i would have thought he must have at least said something like "lets accept it and move on"....what bad thing would come out of that...nothing...wow turkey gets offended,big deal....theyll get over it eventually,its not like itll tear the whole state apart.....Just goes to show you how subjective one can be and doesnt matter how smart they are....Yes i am armenian, but who can deny the facts ,pcitures,stories,etc........i just dont get it.....

@theforgottenorg Where and when is this ethnic cleansing taking place?
On the other hand, the PKK has repeatedly killed civilians and broken cease-fires, so...

@theforgottenorg You're contradicting simple facts.
Armenians rebelled, and many of them formally joined the Russians. Even more simply started killing their neighbors, re VAN!
Are you dense?

@marcusaurelius1221 Read the 1948 Convenction on Genocide. It is clearly defined there

so the admittance of a genocide is the least relevant issue in the whole wide world? for a smart guy that's a pretty darn stupid thing to say

@adrenaline1320 What is relevant is that it never happened.
3 million Turks dead. No more than 1 million Armenians dead.
What happened to the Turks if the Armenians were victims of genocide?
marcusaurelius1221 1 year ago
@adrenaline1320 You are completely right
