@TheGaga32gaga, love how everyone assumes phones are iphones. The world really is coming to an end as teens from 2000 now have a voice.... "apple is the future", blah blah blah blah blah. lol.
I still have a rotary phone in my pickup truck. Antenna's 4 feet high, gotta dial the operator and as for my buddy Bill at KL-1210. What's a cell phone?
AFTER THIS 10 YRS, YOUR SON, YOUR GRANDCHILD, THE CHILDREN NEARLY YOUR HOME..ALSO LOL to you when they see you still usuing iPhone4, HTC Sensation, iPad2...as same as your LOL with this commercial.
The beginning of the end of human society. Just try to eat at a restaurant and not see or hear someone on their cell phone. Or watch the family at the next table whose kids have their nose buried in their phones while mom and dad ignore it. Or walk through a store and have someone walking towards you paying NO attention to anything but their phone and walking into you. Don't even get me started on driving while talking or texting. The cell phone is the worst invention ever.
@Michael55443 Maybe for you it's the worst invention ever, but it is an advancement in technology which has connected everyone. It has saved much more lives than it has lost.
As for the kids, if the parent have a problem with it, they'd ask them to stop?
@sweetjuice143 Why does that make me weird? Doesn't anything annoy you? I was almost killed while crossing the street by a driver talking on her cell phone and not paying attention. I think that gives me the right to dislike how people use cell phones. I think they are fine for an emergency, but that's it. How did people survive before cell phones? Very easily. We waited until we were home or at work to call people. Frankly, I don't want to be reachable 24/7. People aren't responsible with them.
@Michael55443 well if there not responsible thats there business thats all its a diffrent age why sit around worrying aboutr ther people an being noisey and complaining im jst diffrent i am the type of person dont bother people and just move on i guess i hear people on there phones to eating places etc it dont bother me got better shit to be pissed off about and worry
@Michael55443 i won't say worst.. i prefer deadliest.. now with the cell phone you can find your loved ones anytime, anywhere.. truly imagine, not being able to reach to somebody you really wanna talk to..
@Michael55443 I don't disagree with you. Overall I think the cellphone has been detrimental for us as people. It's one of few pieces of technology I would say that about too.
You don't even need to own one to be affected by them. Just drive everyday and you'll have some close calls, heck just go for a walk through town.
It's at a point where not owning one can hurt you when you apply for a job too. Let's not even talk about the social impacts of them.
@Michael55443 that depends on the culture more the cellphone as an invention, Look at Japan for example cell phones got popular pretty quick there, however it is consider rude to use them while on a train(which they use daily as public transport) or crowded place. I agree kids shouldn't have cellphones, but dont see problem with them having a bit of calm fun rather than running around the restaurant . Driving while talkng or texting? dui says hello, no smart person would do either.
@Michael55443 get out of here nolife.always online on youtube waiting for someone to message you.go fuck youre self and stop messaging me bitch.if you message back youre a big fagfuck and ill post it on youtube
@lazertag720 Hey dude, go fuck yourself. You need it. Stop messaging ME you little bitch-boy. You are the one with no life, as YOU MESSAGED ME FIRST. Dumb ass inbred fuckwad.
@Michael55443 My friend, who had an accident, contacted an ambulance using a cellphone when he was in the middle of no-where. Saved his life. Worst invention? I don't think so...
@solidsnake1211 If only that's how people used them: in an emergency. I agree a cell phone CAN be a lifesaver, but 99% of people today just use their phone for bullshit.
@kmiroshkhin That's not the point. I'm not talking about my OWN experience with MY phone. I'm talking about the idiots who abuse cell phones by driving and talking or texting, talking loud in restaurants, walking blindly down the street with their nose in their phone and bumping into people, etc. People don't use them responsibly.
@Michael55443 OMG! I almost had to pull to the side of the road to respond to this, but traffic slowed down a bit. Some one probably got creamed while on the phone.
@Michael55443 I disagree, anymore they're more less a hand held computer that can keep you busy during the boring times whether you're waiting in a Dr office or waiting on something else.
@X92Exploder You need constant input? Can't you just sit quietly? That's why human society is falling apart. We are too interested in our own creature comforts. Damn what annoyance they cause others.
@X92Exploder just because something can be invented does,nt mean it has to be this is a sad point but do know how many men don,t make love to their wifes anymore they just jerk off to internet porn.and schoolboys who are 12 and 13 having easy access to this stuff and put pressure on girls at such a young age must be harmfull long term.
@Michael55443 If you don't like cellphones, then why you buy it? just ignore it and live your life without this. The cellphones make us our life better, i can't imagine the world without technology.
@Malfunction0982 they won't be laughing but they will be interested in the past. technology is going to be extremely advanced in 2031. just as you and me came on this video because old tech is interesting and yes it's funny to but great adn though provoking to look at
Ubuntu's uncontacted Zimbabwe village has received it's first cellular telephones. They resemble the rotary telephones we've had for decades...but the white man who sold them to us said once you remove them from the telephone jack, they are "mobile". Ubuntu is wise and all knowing. UBUNTU
I had a "mobile" phone in 1987. It cost $600 at Radio Shack and it took me 3 hours to install it in my van. The phone company had 3 cell towers within a 50 mile radius and I had to stop when calling someone or I would lose the signal. Each call cost $1.20 for the first minute and 66 cents a minute after that as well as a $49.95 per month activation charge. After a year of that, I decided to keep $10 in quarters in the car and use pay telephones.
@fujifrontier It was $49.95 per month as well an additional $1.20 for the first minute and an additional .66 cents a minute beyond the first. If you used 100 minutes, you were suddenly poor. (100 minutes was in addition to the monthly service charge, $66.00 for 100 mins + $49.95 month $115.95 plus taxes, surcharges, roaming fees, etc...) My worst phone bill back then was $271.00 plus.
the first ad for a cell phone, but not the first cell phone ever. There were cellular networks in Japan in the 1970s. Some rich people had car phones in the 1950s.
@XMcEvilson It probably does.. had a good friend (a rich attorney) die from brain cancer at age 39 back in 2000.. he had one of the first cellphones to come out.
@dinnerandashow The average age for starting mobile phone use in Toronto is something like 10 years old among the liberal upper middle class suburban family. I got a Nokia C3 from Rogers for my 16th birthday. It's my first mobile phone.
It's not the phone that makes the difference, it's the number of cell towers. Did Centel really have enough cell towers in 1989 to make this advertisement reasonably accurate? Or were you limited to the NYC area or soemthing?
The cell phone was totally invented for driving. Even Ice Cube called it a "car phone". Now there's laws against talking and driving. ha!! I'm not saying you should talk n drive. It's just funny how we always find a way to hurt ourselves like kids. Lol!
alot of comments about how big this phone is, far from the first as described, the earlier models came in a bag, which were roughly the size of an old corded phone with a battery that was about half the size of a car battery, I remember coming into possesion of one in the early 90's (obsolete then) and I wished i had kept it.
So he calls his wife and kid to tell them about his busy work day then jumps in a boat with a mistress?? Cells phones- tearing families apart since 1989.

alot of comments about how big this phone is, far from the first as described, the earlier models came in a bag, which were roughly the size of an old corded phone with a battery that was about half the size of a car battery, I remember coming into possesion of one in the early 90's (obsolete then) and I wished i had kept it.

As shitty as the reception can be nowadays I wonder how bad it was then. I bet you couldn't even use it outside of the major cities.
