Wow I read one comment on here that made me laugh lol...now that I'm done, I must add that this song is such a great song. Its uplifting and inspiring. It was done after her accident...Where she was saved...and on that note I say Maferefun La Ocha!
Gloria Estefan is an Israelite from the tribe of Manasseh (so-called Cubans). It's not a coincidence how she has Jews (so-called African-Americans) singing the chorus in the background. They are God's chosen people, and this is an excellent example of why.
On a side note: Unfortunately she is not serving God & Christ... if she was serving them, she would have on a dress instead of pants (Deut 22:5)
I to was abused like andre312 and this song just reminds me of a nurse that I had that gave me a copy of this album on cassett and I played this song alot.
@MusicKttn This woman is truly blessed she shares her spirit of love and my god you can feel it!I cant get enough of it.THANK YOU GLORIA!for putting it in words, also SHARING IT WITH ME
this song is not about that god helped her the most. it was a reflection on her trials and tribulations of the pain and comback from her injury, and that she overcame her injury with the help and love of family, friends, and most of all,US GLORIA ESTEFAN FANS!!WE WHO LOVE HER AND HELPED HER OUT THE MOST,IS WHO SHE IS THANKING AND TALKING ABOUT!NOT GOD! i was PROUD TO BE ONE OF THE FANS THAT HELPED HER!
really the God Delusion ,Im sorry I shouldnt even be answering a fool's statement cause then you would find your self wise in your own foolish understanding ,bye for now, and go pray and find out to see if there is a God ,I think your silly but God Love's you
I was mentally abused by my family, and thus developed seizures in 2004. At present, I am seizure free for 2 years and 5 months...thank God, I was still able to get my life, career on a solid ground...Thank God for showing me that light...
@andre312 GLoria Estefan would tell you to shut up! She doesn't care about your stupid seizures! In fact if you look at the lyrics closely you'll see she's actually making fun of people who have seizures. COming out of the dark means staying away from people who are sick like you. Go America! These colors don't run!
@andre312 I have a seizure disorder & also had abuse as a kid I can identify with you & am so happy for you :) maybe one day I can be seizure free too :)
This is a very powerful and moving song. I believe she is singing of her salvation after a near death and horiffic accident, she finally realizes who has been there with her and for her and she is thankful that he has shined his light on her and gave her another chance at life. "Searchin for what to believe? Coming out of the dark, I finally see the light now, and its shining on me. I know the love that SAVED me. I have felt you near all the way. Stand on the ROCK of your love" Gotta be GOD. :)
@rubybayk Actually, her physical therapist was named Sharon. You hear her say "Sharon with me" It is NOT "sharing with me." I saw her interviewed years ago and she discussed the song.
I loved this song, it was a special song for gloria, as it proved that gloria came back to us after a freak coach accident. Drs said she'd never walk again, but she was determined. Her first steps onto the stage with her family watching brought tears to my eyes.
My gratitude for the riptide of memories which accompany this powerful piece in all its original majesty. Gloria Estefan remains, to the best of my knowledge, a lady who has always acted in accordance with the dictates of her conscience and chanced the consequences, to plagiarise WS Gilbert. Her courage and determination in returning to music after her horrific accident is but the most clear-cut of the many inspirational examples she has provided.

I'm interested in dedicating this song to Rep. Gabrielle Giffords. Hopefully, this would boost her recovery.
