So Bison gets his name because it was left ^^.

No, it is the japanese names version. let me explain :

US version / Japanese version

Balrog is Bison

Vega is Balrog

Sagat is Sagat (nothing changes)

Bison is Vega

Capcom USA prefered to change names cause they didn't want to have problems with Mike Tyson (M.Bison means "Mike" Bison). they twisted the names of those characters and Mike Bison became Balrog.
