  • Hellfire...YumYumRolex from the MPC forums...you are my hero...

  • This Seems So Tedious, what are the advantage of using an mpc as the midi controller over usb keyboard or pads? I haven't used my MPC in eons, I would like to use it, but i grew up on DAWs, it was hard to switch to the mpc like that

  • @Charles0in0charge Some people just like the feel of the pads. The major advantage is being able to use your own sound library in your MPC in combination with the Reason sounds. Being able to use the "16 Levels" feature on the MPC is nice. And the quantizing on the MPC is a bit more intuitive than Reason/Regroove. As far as it being tedious, it's no different than using a midi controller. It's just recording the notes in the MPC's sequencer verses recording the notes in Reasons sequencer.

  • @djhellfire1 ok fasho thnx thats what i was thinkin. what s the point of doing that. is it to add effects seperately or is it better for mastering or both ?

  • what does track out mean ? Im new to beat making and I dont know what track out means.. although my beats sound pretty good - come check me out

  • @BZdaKritta It means to record each mpc sound to a separate track in your daw.

  • is dat pro tools 8? or 9?

  • @bdailey412 That was Pro Tools 8. 9 wasn't out when I made this. I'm on 9 now though!

  • So you have a the mpc midi into reason and the audio routed in the pro tools correct?

  • @bdailey412 Actually, since Reason is running in Rewire mode, the MPC is midi'd into Pro Tools and Pro Tools routes the midi to Reason and Reason routes the audio back into Pro Tools.

  • Thanks for the videos 1-5 they are very needed

  • Yo Hellfire...I have the Mbox 2 and a MPC2500 and a MPK49 Midi Keyboard, now I understand how to use reason as a sound module to play the reason instruments on the pads but how do I play the reason modules in protools using the MPK49...I know how to put the beat in protools after its made on the MPC but now I want to play the reason instruments with my midi keyboard

  • HELLFIRE! YOU ARE A FUCKIN FOOL!

  • good lookin out.

  • thanx alot !!! the fact that midi channel 3 on reason plays midi channel 1 is a f***ing pain. I guess the only way is to disconnect midi channel 1 until i finish the beat. I appreciate the knowledge. If I figure an alternative out i will hit you up.

  • my midi hook up is 003 midi out to mpc midi in 1 then mpc midi out A to the 003 midi in. Then the axiom Midi out to the mpc midi in 2 and the mpc midi out B to the axiom midi in. Of course the usb is hooked to the computer. Is this hookup the best way. The mpc 3000 has 2 midi inputs and 4 midi outputs. thanx

  • Since your triggering from the MPC, you don't need the USB of the keyboard connected unless you plan on sequencing in Pro Tools or Reason without the MPC. Also, if I'm not mistaken, the Axiom has no synthesizer built in. so you shouldn't need the MPC midi out going to the keyboard. You only need to send midi from the keyboard to the MPC, not the other way.

  • I use the axiom 61 as my controller with the 003 and mpc 3000le. When i go in to the preferences in reason i have the option of choosing axiom 1 or axiom 2. I also have the option of using the 003 but reason tells me that another program is using those ports. which is the best to use. for every new instrument created in reason i select the in for that instrument but if it will still play the first midi channel. man i used to use only tone modules but this one here is frustrating

  • yo djhellfire I have an 003 rack plus and an mpc3000le. Everytime i add a new instrument track that new sound in reason will always play midi channel 1 sound. If i am on a new instrument track and assigned to 5&6 when i assign in reason it will play midi channel 1 sound as well. I can also change the midi channels on the mpc and the sound will still play no matter what midi channel it is on. Help me out

    Tricky

  • This video was when I had the Mbox. I just upgraded to a 003 as well and have the same issue as you. That's just the way it is with the 002/003. Pro Tools hogs the midi and doesn't let the interface connect directly to Reason. The way I get around it is use the Reason sequencer in combination with the MPC sequencer. In short, once you lay the melody down in the MPC, use Reason to record the midi notes for that same module. This way, Reason will be triggering the module itself.

  • Sync the MPC to Pro Tools as the slave so Pro Tools controls playback of the MPC. Highlight bars 1-4 in Pro Tools (or 1-8) depending on how many bars your sequence is. Select loop playback in Pro Tools. Now as Pro Tools plays back the MPC, Reason is also playback at the same time, triggering the midi notes you Recorded into it.

I will try to make a video explaining this soon.

  • When ever i change my midi channel on my mpc it doesn't change in reason...what im i missing

  • What interface are you using? I just upgraded to a 002 and can't get this shit working like I did with my Mbox. Pro Tools hogs the midi with the 002 and won't let Reason midi directly to the 002. I just ordered a 003, but I'm sure it's the same as the 002.

  • loved it tahnks

  • Love it thanks.....saved alot of money

  • How'd you save money?

  • he was probably considering buying a keyboard or rack, but now he can just use reason.. thats what im thinking...

  • Was going to buy the 003 + factory to track out my sounds

  • informative video series... thanks.
