@pabanil You are correct. But marathon rules state that an athlete can be DQed if someone helps them finish the course. In this case, he'd already finished. So the no-assistance rule doesn't apply here.
This reminds me of the time a waiter asked me if I wanted to sit with the rest of my family at a restaurant table while I was sitting at another booth just messing around. My aunt who was there thought the waiter had no place to say anything to me, and go the waiter fired.. What's the deal, ladies?!? lol
This is beyond ridiculous. This is a father taking care of his son. The woman got mouthy -it looks like- over nothing. When he touched her shoulder, he was alerting her "I'll take it from here. I'm going to carry him out. Thanks anyway." I hate people like these 'marathon officials.'
ASSAULT? There's some stupid things being said about the woman here, but if that was assault then I assaulted a few people the last time I walked down a crowded high street.
But that doesn't even seem like the most insane part to me, the truly crazy part is that he was disqualified for something his father supposedly did WHILE HE WAS UNCONSCIOUS! Even if the dad had walked up and punched her how do you justify disqualifying the son who wasn't even awake? What a selfish and prideful woman.
she wanted to be the hero probably complained to the race officials and just had to drag this out and punish an innocent who she was allegedly trying to help. This kid just runs a marathon for all they knew at the time he was having a heart attack and she could have interfered with\an emergencysituation
Can we at least have the name of this woman posted in here? Seriously why can't we get rid of these pests. Let's track down where the bitch lives and tie her down then slaughter her family right in front of her. Help prevent these pests from breeding. Fuck, I hate these people.
Well, its just a sport, and sport is a game. A game is not real life, there are other stuff you should but effort and energy on. Sorry, I cant take sport seriously..
This is a damn shame. As others have stated before, the runner did absolutely nothing in the way of assaulting the woman. I can't even begin to understand how one man pulling her out of the way equals another sucker-punching her. There's just no kind of logic there. Also, it's clear what the issue is. The woman ran out to help him because she thought, "If I help, I'll be a hero!" She's clearly seen clawing at the dad, trying to pull him away so that SHE can get the glory. What a selfish witch.
@wolfywox From the way the woman is holding the collapsed athlete and the way she walks while holding him it's obvious she's struggling with the weight of him. The father coming out of nowhere and wrenching her arm away probably freaked her out and she might've just panicked and thought it was possible the athlete was going to be dropped. It does just look like she's trying to "help" shift the weight to the father and make sure he's safe rather than "no no, my collapsed athlete! MINE!"
His dad was doing the right thing, if his dad didn't come in the picture to carry him, he would have suffered another leg injury by those 2 retards trying to lift him/drag him across the runway.
If he was my son, i would have done the same thing, or maybe even ran in as soon as he reached. But well done lad, well done atleast you finished it.
OK Looking at how the father touched the woman's arm compared to how she tugged at the father when he was CARRYING his son I would say that the woman was far rougher than the father.
He was simply running out to see to his son's safety and he even took care not to interfere with the other runners. That woman had no business pulling on his shoulder like that and especially not when he was carrying an injured person! He deserves for his achievement to be officially recognized.
Any person who is a Parent would understand what the father did to "save, rescue, help" their child who is in need of "comfort, nurturing, and security "during a time when "your child" needs it most.
Dude? Her grabbing him at 5:21 is the same thing as his dad grabbing her arm. How the fuck is that assault? How could she even tell them he assaulted her for grabbing her arm, and how the hell can they take that seriously?!? Get his name back in the fucking record book, or at the least make the woman run the marathon that fast and almost die, and have her throw up 15 times..and make sure she's not in the record book. Fucking bitch.
How can an athlete be disqualified by something a spectator did!?! If a fan runs out on to the baseball field, would the batter be disqulified - stupid!
Seems to me that the lady was the one that hit the dad. wtf...why? did he grip her arm too hard? This bitch. Even if she was gripped with a little bit more pressure than needed, can you blame the guy? His son's half dead in the race track. This bitch and her fawking ego.
Simple: The woman has jealously issues over the fact that she can't run that far...or she would have had a number on. Her only power as a "race official" was compromised as her left shoulder was touched. As we all know, the touching of a human hand to the shoulder of a "race official" as a gesture of help: is a serious crime that should not go unpunished. I say give the runner the electric chair.
@mmmcculloch3 - Come on lets get it right, the lady was a fatty and lets face it, fatties are emotional and expect everything their way. Because shes not used to being touched anything would be considered as assault. Even if she managed to pick up a dude in a bar that has had 20 pints and cant walk straight and took him home to root him, as soon as he touched her she would have the cops there for assault. Thats fatties for ya. I say electric chair for the fatty!!!
first off there was no assault and second why punish the son for his dad's actions. If they call this an assault they should take the dad to court. Even is The dad killed the race official the son should not be dqd. They should have brought the dad to court. Great job finishing though. that is pure determination. I frigin walked the last nine miles!haha.
That is b/s. If anyone was assaulted it was his father by the woman. He simply steps in to pick up his son, and she grabs his shoulders and pulls him back. This makes me furious.
This makes no sense...I've run in college NCAA meets. Even in a regional NCAA meet which qualifies people for nationals, I wasn't dq'ed for a non-competing teammate helping me the second I crossed the finish line. In my eyes, he should've been counted in the final results...just saying :)
what the fuck? If anyone came closer to assault it was the blonde cunt. He was only getting her out of the way to a guy who was in obvious pain. She then tries to hold him and probably clawed him in the back when she grabbed around.
It looks as if he slightly grabs her arm, but nothing that could hurt. He was just worried about his son and wanted what was best for him. The two people that try to make him walk are idiots.
If you watch, the lady then goes and tries to grab the dad and pull him. If they are trying to say he assaulted her, how did she not get anything? What a bitch imo
his father did put his hand on the official in a normal way as if to say i'll take over, but the official then aggresivley pulled at his father assualting him ,was nothing said about this ...it was very unprofessional and unneccesery to even mention the inccinent and very very petty minded to DQ him, what next, no medal if you don't say thank you ,also i would check the rules and see if you can be DQd afret the race is over or not ....
I'm a marathoner and I can not see how he could have been disqualified.. I hope this decision was overturned and he was properly recognized.. By the way GREAT time!

Stupid decision. Jonathans marathon was finished already.
The following incident was nothing more than his dad wanting to look after him.
If this was an assault, let the officials have it tried in court where it will be thrown out.
Disqualifying him is unprofessional and childish.
