While I like the original, she is certainly a better singer than Alice, at least technically. Really a shame this particular mix buried her vocals so often. Fretless bass is a nice touch, though.
@COOLSAMMYJO She went down the feminist route, which alienated many fans. Stupid in the extreme. A hugely talented lass, is Julie. Back on the stage I gather.
cheers,m8. I just thought, having read some of these asinine comments,I'd slip in my 10pence worth! No doubt Cooper has/had his followers,no biggie about that, but to try to compare the two,him and Covington, well,it's just stupidity, lol!
Why do people insist in comparing someone like the great Covington to some bloke who wore running mascara and did stupid acts with snakes,i.e. Alice Cooper? Seriously, they cannot be compared.Covington is the definitive balladess!
This sounds strangely like Tina Arena's more recent version. I like Etta James version much better. None of these girls can capture Alice in drag singing "watch me bleed."
Sung by one of the best singers of that time, she was the then Madonna of our times, but withot all the tripe this new one has, this is the voice and the talent only Julie Covington had, a real entertainer a real singer no frills just honest singer with passion, Thanks Julie for your voice
What have I have heard this song recording it on an old cassette back then end 1977 with the standard noices of radio on MW!!!....I probably heard it more than a 1000 times back then ! Then when it was a very little radio hit after *of course* *Don' cry for me Argentina*. It has always meant a lot to me! Such a powerful emotional voice by Julie...What a pity she did not recorded anything else since then worldwide (....as I know?). Great and thank you very much for sharing!
such a beautiful voice so natural
