I hated this mission sooo much... it was the hardest of the game for me.
Even tho theres A LOT of skill required for this, theres also a huge luck factor cus Hilary may or may not crash into something, or may choose to spin u out or not.
Anyway, i tried everything i could think of and read in FAQs...with no luck... blocking the road with a bus, reducing the game speed, spinning Hilary by hitting the back of his car (kinda hard at least for me)... and even switching to an Infernus.

The only thing that worked for me was switching to a Hotring Racer (nascar car), the one at sunshine autos. It's the fastest car in the game. Faster than the Sabre Turbo Hilary drives.
Park it before starting the mission on the side of the first curve, just past the bridge.
When the race starts, just drive there and switch cars fast. You'll catch up quick and beat him by a lot.
Theres a cheat to get the Hotring Racer right in front of u at the countdown, but when saving it warns u about corrupting the file... so i didnt use that.

The secret to beating him consistantly is exactly what this video shows...spinning him out on the first straight-away before that first hard left at Raphael's...after that, its just a matter of driving your ass off and not letting the cops fuck up your race. I remember this mission well, I was round my friends house, and he was attempting this mission, after about 7 tries (He got really annoyed), he was literally at the final checkpoint, when suddenly, Hillary came speeding down, and crashed straight into the back of my friends car, sending him flying as Hillary sped to the finishing line, I'm sure that he nearly snapped the game in half!

Hillary will move too fast and will fly off several times. when he gets to the corner where your wanted level goes up by 2 just put in the lower wanted level cheat and switch to the moped and its smooth sailing. (keep the gravity cheat on as it dosent affect the moped)

Weird, I actually beat this mission on my second try ON THIS PLAYTHROUGH.
Of course, I had a really hard time when I first played the game, but this time it was easy to me. The trick is: Do not use tricks. Don't try to ram him and don't try to use shortcuts. You will pass him in the beginning of the race and you'll never see him again.
But seriously, why would you need a driver if you could do it yourself? Especially after proving you're the better driver! It makes no sense!
The Sentinel is actually just as fast as the Turbo at top speed, the Turbo just owns the acceleration. What I did to beat it was hilarious. I was in the lead but Hilary was right on my tail. A cop came out of nowhere exactly at 3:41. I used the pit manuever on the cop and passed him on the right. Hilary tried going to my left to pass and he smashed into the cop and got himself stuck on the pillar of the pizza place! Realizing this, I stopped the car to gloat for a second before winning the race!
Actually, this mission wasn't the hardest for me. The only time I can remember failing it was when I sniped Hilary to get his car. Hit the Courier was much harder imo.

If you get pissed, just bump the other car in the rear in the beginning of the race, and use the advantage after you learn the track well from failed try outs.

this mission took the piss, so i used the car flies cheat, i got used to it, while when the race started, he flew into a wall while i kept on the road, i loved it, easiest race ever!!
i recommend, at the start of the race, try to get him out by pushing his car on the back part from one side, if youre lucky, he will take some time to get on the race again...
After the 3rd checkpoint, try to spin him out; he will slow down due to other cars and bends THEN drive into his left or right rear side, causing the spin out. Then keep your foot down until the end of the course. I did this without cheats (and after the gazillionth attempt!)
when the race starts just after the 1 second countdown,get a rifle ready, get out of the car and shoot his wheels.press esc button and type LEAVE ME ALON dont press E when police comes press E police will go and you can defeat him because of his blasted tyres
This is harder for me than that level I had to rescue lance from the junk yard, or that one where I had to save the love fist limo from exploding or the one mission I had to jump form rooftop to get ti a spot light. But I used a heil copter for that one.
\My least favorite mission in the game, i used a Trainer( Playing the PC version atm) to spawn a Comet in front of me before the race started. It may sound cheap, but when it comes to that asshole, Hilary, i call it keeping the playing field even.
Otherwise i will go as far to say this is more luck based than anything, you can drive perfectly, but unless Hilary screws up, you've already lost.

@nightblue16 this mission is tricky; the best bet is to stay behind him until you can take that shotcut by the Malibu Club. other than that, you hope he messes up. the cops really add to the degree of difficulty!

That Hillary is a rejected dirty piece of shit. Every time im in the lead he spins me out or rams me into an object. Out of all the run and gun missions in the game this one, a race against some rejected prick, is the hardest.
After about an hour of trying to beat this mission, I finally got in front of Hillary. I was approaching the final checkpoint when - see the bridge at 3:34? Hillary skidded off it, landed in the water and died. Mission Failed.
I had to to explain to the PC repair-man the next day how I'd 'accidentally' punched and broken my monitor.
I have a problem with this mission: i finished first and then it said mission failed just when i finished and below it said: hillary is dead! and then the hole screen turns black,i press space,nothing happens,esc,nothing...
This mission is just not worth it to complete fairly. I agree 100% with what spicyechidna94 said, this mission is Rockstar Games spitting in our faces and laughing at our misery! That is why I have no problem in proudly saying I use the flying car cheat to beat this! Hillary has no next to no control once the cheat is enabled, may even go flying into the water lol.
Took me so many tries to beat this. I tried bumping him from the rear side of his car and made him have to back up to get way ahead of him

You can reduce the game speed typing "booooooring" (thats 6 'o') at the countdown of the race.That will help the players that dont drive so good.
Also u can type "leavemealone" to get rid of the cops (wanted level)
Even more help? type "gripiseverything" to make insane turns.Just dont turn too hard or u'll flip over.

1. make a backup for handling.cfg inside data folder
2. open the handling.cfg with notepad, copy the handling for the rhino and use it for sabretur.
3. save and start the game and do the mission (hill will be very slow)
4. save the game after you did the mission and exit the game.
5. replace the handling.cfg from the data folder with the backup one you made earlier.

lol for me it took me 3 tries considering i kept slammin into teh cops and hilary that bastard kept slamming into me cuasing me to slam it building and other cars and cops. finally my dad came and saw me palyingt he mission it turns out he had the game when he was a kid. he told me to practice the track and i did but still failed so lets jujst say my dad tried to help and guess what!? HE KICKED HILARYS MOTHER F***** SORRY A**! dad had to side swipe him in bewtween 2 building XD and got stuck LOL

all those other ways are crap for those with another gaming console other than a PC here is the all time gaurenteed way to beat this mission first steal a moped and park it on the sidewalk of the first corner activate the no gravity cheat then start the mission. Hillary will move to fast and on this turney course he will fly off several times. when he gets to the corner where your wanted level goes up by 2 just put in the lower wanted level cheat and smooth sailing. trust me it works

between 2:04 to 2:14 is one of the key to beat him, by practicing on how 2 bump hilary's side bumper....cuz ones u both raced up with those turns. it is a bit impossible 2 beat dat bastard! lol

If you get pissed, just bump the other car in the rear in the beginning of the race, and use the advantage after you learn the track well from failed try outs.

i recommend, at the start of the race, try to get him out by pushing his car on the back part from one side, if youre lucky, he will take some time to get on the race again...

After the 3rd checkpoint, try to spin him out; he will slow down due to other cars and bends THEN drive into his left or right rear side, causing the spin out. Then keep your foot down until the end of the course. I did this without cheats (and after the gazillionth attempt!)

the way i finished this mission is this way.
when the race starts just after the 1 second countdown,get a rifle ready, get out of the car and shoot his wheels.press esc button and type LEAVE ME ALON dont press E when police comes press E police will go and you can defeat him because of his blasted tyres

This is harder for me than that level I had to rescue lance from the junk yard, or that one where I had to save the love fist limo from exploding or the one mission I had to jump form rooftop to get ti a spot light. But I used a heil copter for that one.

\My least favorite mission in the game, i used a Trainer( Playing the PC version atm) to spawn a Comet in front of me before the race started. It may sound cheap, but when it comes to that asshole, Hilary, i call it keeping the playing field even.
Otherwise i will go as far to say this is more luck based than anything, you can drive perfectly, but unless Hilary screws up, you've already lost.

This mission is the hardest mission in GTA3/GTA4/GTA VC.
The match is totally unfair by giving player a Sentinel to race with a sport car
Even Sentine can run as fast as phoenix(highest speed),the acceleration of Phoenix is a lot better than Sentinel.
I spend hours for this mission,finally i passed.
My method is simple....keep as close with him as possbile and won him in final 3 circles.
I go strainght to pass the circle in 3:42 and 3:48 when the AI must make a U turn on that.........

@nightblue16 this mission is tricky; the best bet is to stay behind him until you can take that shotcut by the Malibu Club. other than that, you hope he messes up. the cops really add to the degree of difficulty!

After about an hour of trying to beat this mission, I finally got in front of Hillary. I was approaching the final checkpoint when - see the bridge at 3:34? Hillary skidded off it, landed in the water and died. Mission Failed.
I had to to explain to the PC repair-man the next day how I'd 'accidentally' punched and broken my monitor.

This mission is just not worth it to complete fairly. I agree 100% with what spicyechidna94 said, this mission is Rockstar Games spitting in our faces and laughing at our misery! That is why I have no problem in proudly saying I use the flying car cheat to beat this! Hillary has no next to no control once the cheat is enabled, may even go flying into the water lol.
