  • Love the look of this - I wish they made these kinds of films more accessible to view - almost impossible to get to watch the whole film if you cant make a screening - make them available to download pleeeease!!

  • @cathrynstonemusic sorry it's not more accessible - the rights are controlled by Screen WM (now defunct) and the Film Council (soon to be defunct)!

  • @cathrynstonemusic Agree it,s amazing, loved it when it was on TV last Christmas, and fortunate enough to see it on the screen at Plymouth Peninsula Art Gallery....are C4 screening it again this Christmas???

  • @theProjectCEE I'm not aware of them making it available on C4 again. Hopefully we'll be able to put it up here on YouTube eventually.

  • I usually enjoy more mainstream animated films/shorts but the beautific simplicity of this gothic piece has really captured my imagination - saw it on CH4 very late a week ago and I can't get the score out of my head!!!

  • I love this animation so much, the music and the moonbird are just beautiful.

  • @tamiyx currently only available in the UK on Channel 4's website - hopefully available as a download one of these days though it's out of our hands as it's owned by Screen WM and the Film Council

  • @brothermcleod thank you, unfortunateli the service from channel 4 isn't aviable in switzerland. so I can't watch it. but i've seen it on channel 4 at christmas.

  • this was amazing..i stumbled across it while browsing channels on christmas eve. beautifully gothic.

  • @GracePearl Glad you enjoyed it :)

  • please tell where i can get the score to this beautiful film?

  • @OnCall101Villa I'm afraid the score hasn't been publicly released - there are some of the songs on the brothersmcleod website on the music section that you can listen to

  • @OnCall101Villa We may set up a Bandcamp digital download site - so watch this space

  • @brothermcleod awesome; make i happen, bandcamp ftw!

  • Thanks for posting the trailer....I saw this film at Penninsula Arts in Plymouth a few weeks back...I loved it and watched it many times in the gallery...thank you!

Is it available to buy or download, or will it be? Thanks in advance!!!

  • @projectcee v glad you liked the film - i'm not sure about buy or download as Screen WM handle the distribution. But it will be on Channel 4 on Christmas Day at 1am (this is to be confirmed, but hopefully that's when it will be on). atb. TBM

  • This is so good! We definitely love your work!

  • saw your film at brain wash brum and loved it! loving your work x

  • hey i saw this at BAA and stoke your fires. i thought it was wonderful, it inspired me to make my film in 3d but black and white. best of luck to you!x Bexie Bush

  • @bexiebushguitar Very pleased to have inspired you!

  • LOL the music reminds me of oblivion

  • Best of luck at the BAAs. Are they in April? I hope you keep us You Tuber's informed if you win. Looks really great judging from the short.

  • Thanks - yes BAAs in April! Will keep all informed via YouTube and our blog!

  • The Moon Bird didn't make it to the shortlist for Best Sound Design nom at the BAAs. But it did win Best film Made in the Midlands at Stoke Your Fires Festival.

  • Congratulations on your win at Stoke Your Fires. I have only seen one full short from your competition and that was "Nimbus" by Rachel Louise McGrath. I thought that was your strongest competition. The trailer for "Genesis in Portrait" looks like it could be great but really reminds me of the work by BLU(that is not a bad thing). I would love to see the whole of "Eyeful of Sound" as that also looked really interesting in both technique and concept.

I can't wait to see more of "The Moon Bird"

  • Are you ever going to post the moon bird on youtube for you devoted fans in the US?

  • I'm afraid if we do it won't be for a long time yet. It is going out to film festivals in the US though.

  • saw the movie on monday at the british animation awards and was my favourite film, was wondering where i could see the whole thing again? thanks.

    Chris

  • @christud86 Hi Chris - it will be continuing a tour with the British Animation Awards and then hopefully turning up at some other film festivals throughout the year. Also it should be on a DVD from our website in the next few months. And on Channel 4 sometime! Will try to keep all informed via our Twitter and Blog

  • WAY WOW!

  • Can't wait to see the finished film!

  • awesome technic!!

  • Looks awesome. Great work as always! Well done.

  • Cheers Ian!

  • Wow. Any chance it'll be anywhere near St. Louis, MO? (We used to have an animated film ... thing. Don't know if it still comes this way anymore...) Or, how about available to see on the internet?

Love the music... and the whole mood! I hope I can see it!

  • Wow. Any chance it'll be anywhere near St. Louis, MO? (We used to have an animated film ... thing. Don't know if it still comes this way anymore...) Or, how about available to see on the internet? How long is it?

  • We will be submitting it to the st louis international film festival which screens in November!

  • Awesome! Something to look forward to!

  • This looks amazing! I really do rate your work as some of the most avant garde stuff out there, both in animation and ideas.

Can't wait to see this in it's entirety :)

  • Oh gosh I cannot wait!

This looks amazing and I don't hesitate to say you guys are my favorite!!

  • This looks incredible. Reminds me of those old Eastern Block cartoons that used to be on BBC2 of a sunday afternoon.

  • You guys are amazing. One day you'll be in the academic animation textbooks with Caroline Leaf, the Brothers Quay,Svankmajer etc. I wish you all the best success in the world.Your talent is astounding.

Do they still have the Zagreb Festival in some form or another? If it is still going in some form, regardless of the political situation,it'd be great if you could enter. That used to be the Oscars of animation. You certainly deserve one.

  • Blush!

  • Astounding work, as usual! It looks intriguing to say the least.

  • How long did it take to make the film from start to finish?

  • @dragonheadthing 2 years

  • @dragonheadthing the first version of the story was written in August 2007. We got the funding to make the film in February 2009, so most of the work was done in the last year. There's more info on our blog - link in the info section of the vid! TBM

  • Another inspiring and visual masterpiece from TBM, all I want to know is when do I get to see it!

  • Hi Lewis

hopefully it'll screen at the Flatpack festival!

Saw your new film at the Lighthouse this week - they opened with it - top film!

    Myles

  • I'll make sure I submit it!

  • Wow! That looks blasted brilliant!

  • brilliant! cant wait to see it!!

  • I like this stuff, can't wait

  • Good luck, gentlemen! I look forward to it.

  • cant wait!!! :D

  • cool and interpretive

  • I'm really looking forward to this. Is it entirely non-verbal?

  • Yes indeed - originally we thought we were going to use a single famous actress to do narration and voices for the characters in a kind of old fashioned storytelling way, but then we decided it would be more of a challenge and a stronger international film if we made it non-dialogue. The characters do verbalise - but only screams and gasps and growls etc. All the best. TBM

  • Well, I am terribly excited for this. I wonder if it'll screen anywhere in central coast California?

  • Let us know the nearest big towns and I'll look for a film festival...

  • @brothermcleod I live near San Louis Obispo, CA, though SF and LA are within possible driving distance.

  • @UselessFodder Sadly just missed the deadline for San Louis Obispo Film Festival - will submit next year. We will be submitting to some festivals in LA for sure - also maybe Santa Cruz.

  • The Moon Bird will be at this years San Luis Obispo Festival after all!

  • that looks amazing

  • Awesome! I hope that it gets played in Washington sometime.

  • I'll submit it to filmfest dc! No guarantees it'll get in of course!

  • A little creepy, but cool :]

  • Amazing work guys.

  • You guys never cease to amaze. Really looking forward to seeing this someday!

  • Can't wait to see this.

  • Interesting, this could go on to be the next great classic childrens fairtale!

  • It´s nice!!!!

  • All the best as your film makes its run in the festival circuit. I hope you get into the big ones!
