  • Yep

  • I guess fIREHOSE would have come back by now if the dudes wanted it--but Mike Watt's solo albums are pure art

  • @numinaII fIREHOSE is booked to play 2012 Coachella. Welcome back, fIREHOSE!

  • great jam...

  • I second that what rustythev said They made me want to play drums & Bass.

  • I've been thinking about this song all day. also Geogre's hair always makes me laugh :)

  • so good

  • greeting from Indonesia

im 17 and i dont like today's trend

  • my favorite fH song ever

  • Incredible bass line in this one. Pair it with Chemical Wire and you have the very definition of "alternative rock." I prefer fIREHOSE to Minutemen.

  • Love how hurley's hair just got bigger and bigger through the 80's

  • no better three piece band ever existed on earth.

I still listen to firehose all the time!

    Thanks for posting this.

  • to bad most skaters only know this firehose song!!!!

  • @cholesteroy I beg to differ.

  • This drummer looks exactly like my boyfriend oO awesome xD

  • Killer song! I too was introduced to this band via Natas! Good times!

  • This is the band (and the Minutemen) that made me want to play the drums. Thanks Committed77 for posting this!

    Love it!

  • Haha...McSqueeb..I still have one....

  • @soshorereject Fuck Yeah...I gotta Devil Lock...still

  • Early fIREHOSE songs we're minutemen songes. They were Dos songs adapted from the first Dos record Mike made with his then-wife Kira who played in Black Flag.

I have a live tape from a show they played where Ed hardly knew the song. That's punk rock to get back out there like Mike and George did.

  • amazing song!!!

  • I was introduced to the song by Natas Kaupas, thanks just like for all the endless skating influence of the time

  • Great song! Y

You can really see that early fIREHOSE songs are just Minutemen songs that have been adapted to the new band.

It is really sad to see Watt playing the same bass he used like 6 months before this with D Boon.

You can hear someone from the audience shouting "The Anchor" - A Minutemen song - at Watt, and he just smiles and ignores it.

This is really, subtley, extremely sad.

I wonder if Brave Captain was written as a Minutemen song. Good interview question.

  • There person in the crowd was saying "Anger", another Firehose song. D. Boone died long before this was filmed.

  • i remember seeing them in fresno, california in...88 or 89. awesome! some of watt's relatives turned up).

  • The drummer has the biggest McSqueeb I've ever seen!

  • I bought their first and second albums when they came out - quite tricky to do when you lived in Ireland and had to go all the way to London to buy US indie records like this.

Great band. What the hell did happen to Ed Crawford? I actually heard of fIREHOSE before I heard of the Minutemen, but being a pedant I decided to listen to the Minutemen first. Between them they made better music than almost anyone else at the time.

  • Watt looks like Jack Kerouac in this clip.

  • Poor old Ed Crawford, never gets any credit. Banyon felt bad for him and let him play backup guitar for a while. What's he up to now?

  • brilliant

  • Astoundingly great band. Saw them in 1987 with X and Jerry Lee Lewis at the Universal Ampitheatre in Hollywood. I was blown away and saw them more than a dozen times. Incredible catalogue of music. Explore it and you won't be disappointed.

  • I first heard this song as a child watching Ohio Skateout, been a Watt fan eversince.

  • Mike Watt, god.

  • Ditto Goerge Hurley.

  • yeah i'd say one of the most influential bass players of the 80s

  • if someone ask me what is my life´s song, I would say brave captain

  • good song I saw it in a skate video in the part of natas kaupas, the music and the skating get perfekt together

  • It's not on search for animal chin. It was on a santa cruz video segment with natas kaupas and it was in the background at a skate contest in the mid 80's...can't remember which one.

  • Haha dreamed it on purpose what the hell lol. Man, Mike Watt is so cool I fuckin love this song so much

  • street on fire natas kaupas

  • Jesus. It gives me goosebumps, when I think about firehose on the Streets of Fire skate vid. Has there ever been a better soundtrack to a timeless film. Art meets freedom, meets endless summers. Natas and Brave Captain. Amazing. Let me know if nostalgia gets any better

  • HELL YEAH.

  • there are doubts

  • Watt's tune-up alone is worth the price of admission. Watt and George have to be the most underrated rhythm section around.

  • my favourite song all the time

  • yea great stuff kinda weird version but still cool long live sk8 rock

  • This song appears on Streets of Fire, a sk8 vid from the 80's. It appears on the Natas Kaupas bit. fIREHOSE and Natas Kaupas together, if it can get any better, I don't wanna know about it.

  • Geezer, you hit the nail on the head ! It reminds me of summer holidays, getting up at 7am, eating my cornflakes whilst watching Natas on loop, then skating all day.. I would kill for those days...

  • This song was also on Bones Brigade-the search for animal chin. I believe. Correct me if I'm wrong.

  • musicianship such as theirs is lost on today's trite pop music...fuckin' amazing band

  • I dedicate this song to George W.

  • And I dedicate it to George Hurley!

  • As much as I love Watt, Hurley and EdfromOhio deserve much respect as well. RIP dboon.

  • fIREHOSE was a piece of the puzzle that most modern music consumers miss. There are doubts that those that miss it will ever come around... Watt kills and has tons of great stuff... see you there...

  • I love this song. Mike Watt is God.

  • not much time has gone by in seventeen years when i haven't listened to fIREHOSE - newbies: get stuck in and grab the vinyl!

  • Damn I miss this band

  • I been to a lot, lot, lot of shows. Nothing topped fIREHOSE. Nothing meant as much to me as fIREHOSE.

  • Nice.
