Why is the MKIII described as infamous here? Also, are these newer than the full frame 1Ds variants because I'm seeing their fps/frame rate is higher? Thx.
I'm thinking about being a photographer, I've always dreamed of being one. But theres so many to pick from. I'm thinking of getting a Canon or Nikon. Which is better?
Dude, you wrong. 7D is faster than any APS-C Nikon, but D3s is the best FF camera now. It depends on your needs, wich is the better, wich suits you. Of course, if they bring out 1Ds mkIV, that will blow the D3s, and a new D700 would be overkill.
It's a serious competition, situation changes dramaticaly by time.
But yeah, most Nikon's AF is faster, than the same category Canon, but here is no place for global rules.
@seekthedragonout overall image quality is better on Nikon. Noise for high end cameras is is measurably better than canon. Most pros use canon because it was the best for years until the D3. Switching is a pain.
@FlairSi if you compare them very closely you will not be able to make a decision. Test the Nikon D90 and Canon Rebel T2i. Which one you prefer is your brand. Test carefully. Choose for your needs.

Wow...! I love taking pictures and I dream to be a photographer.... But I didn't know that you need this much stuff! How do you manage to buy all of those things?!? Must be very expensive...
Well... I agree about Nikon. But theres something about Canon that I like. The ergonomics and looks are nice. Do you think if I were to take a picture with both cameras on 100 ISO and the same subject would there be a HUGE difference in picture quality?
Not necessaraly quality, but since they are 2 different types of sensors there is a slight color variance. but i havent used canon enough to be familuar with it enough to like it as much as i have with nikon.
I would just go to a camera store and take your SD or CF card with you and try a few different brands and models...
it depends on what you're shooting, Nikon is better for action shots. But, I personally don't like to go over 200 ISO unless I have to, the picture starts to look like crap.
its all opinion alot of people think for some reason nikon is a more luxury brand but it;s not you just pay more
the new canon 7d is going to kill nikon's sells plus nikor glass is more than canon glass and they dont have a large selection of cheaper glass like canon
Canon messed up with the mk 3. Now the D3 is as sharp as hell and its flash guns work. Can be argued that canon is better on long glass with better colors, Im working on that atm will know which is better in a few weeks, So far Nikon flash up close and personal and canon 70-200 available light., nice combo though a tad confusing at times.
damn! for the people (like myself) who dont know anything about photography, its like listening to a whole different language cuz i dont know half of what he's talking about.
He's never afraid of putting lens cap coz he earn big time, he can replace everyone of them if he wants it. Pro photographers trash their camera and they don't care.
Omg, all that is in his camera bag alone could pay from my first semester of graduate school. OMG I'm Cumming all those wonderful canons with that beautiful click to capture ratio. OMG i want more i need more please press your sutter for daddy.
Really? It was really necessary to make this video? Maybe I should do one on how one is to properly start a car; you know, go into extreme detail as to how the key is inserted properly, and how to turn it to the position where the starter engages. Man I bet I can do 15 minutes on that alone.
do you always cleaning front side of lenses with clothes you wear? i am cleaning them same way and until this moment, nothing happens with glass- there are no scratches on it.
Q. How do you burn through so many flashes '580EX' I mean in the manuals it says you can only activate it for around 20 constant flashes before it needs a cooldown. Is it that your shooting 100's of flashes and it burns out?
I don't have a manual to read but if he's using it like that it's probably teeny tiny little sliver's of light at about 1/128 or 1/64 power. If the manual says you can only flash it 20 times, look & see if it's talking about FULL POWER flashes, I bet it is. If you put a sheet of notebook over the head of your flash keep it tight, pop the full power flash & pull the paper away you'll see smoke from all of the power (and therefore heat) it's pushing out.
Sorry I had like 20 different youtube tabs open and thought this was something different. I heard the first few production runs of the 580EX II just weren't that great but I dunno from experience.
28-300mm is 3.5-5.6. basically, it will not be that great at 200mm in a low light situation, but it will do great in outdoor broad daylight. Having a 70-200/ 2.8 is not only very important because of low light, but much more shallow DOF. 28-300 covers a bit, but not as versatile as the 70-200 - they BOTH have their place. I am a self employed photographer and I have lenses that cover identical focal lengths and it is NOT a waste.
lol too much credit...Yes..to the portrait question but when u get too close in watch out that the nose and eyes have enough dof. I always focus on eyes to be sure.
To be honest if you are getting sharpe images with the gear you have then great. Dont be fooled into thinking that u must have 2.8 prime lenses. If you shoot shows or things that are in low light all the time then u are gonna need one in the end but you always have the ISo option. Yes you may get some noise but most things can be repaired somewhat on photoshop.zooms are great sigma's, tamron etc all work well and if u are on a budget there is nothing wrong with them.
I just went to the British Motorshow and used the 28 - 300mm. I had to boost the ISO to 1600 at times. got a lot of noise in the shadows even with High ISO Noise reduction. Digital Photo Professional sorted that out though (i always shoot in RAW now). My shots look pretty decent and sharp... cheers
Yeah I get that with my L f4 lenses. Common when using available light. The only problem I see with shooting at f2.8 is that it's very difficult to get the focus spot on. More so in low light and shooting this wide open. Especially when capturing peoples eyes at this aperture. Noise Ninja is very good plugin for photoshop - I find it funny that we can be happy with lots of grain in some images but we don't like noise!
Ah, yes, i have read good things about noise ninja... i just cant afford f2.8 lenses.. i have to start earning more money!
i get really nast looking noise with very high ISO on my 40D.. nasty red speckles... DPP gets rid of that, but i lose a little sharpness.. overall its ok though.
yeah something I'm having to deal with at the moment with the slower canon L lenses. I'm agreeing with Katy Winn about the 17-40mm, I find 'very little' difference compared to the 16-35mm, mostly the price. I don't like having to drop to f2.8, however depending on the situation and available light, you have to adapt the best way you can.
it may be a tamrac or lowpack I have both. I like the bouncy ones alot better than the ones that come with camera. IF you plan to carry a camera for long periods I recommed getting the padded type save you alot of pain in the end
I hope to get into this too. Thanks for the info,Frazer .I'm into Nikon. A D40X for now. Hope to get the D3 or maybe start with D 300 first. See ya on the click side.
i dont believe it. how he is using his gears either its from company and insured or he is pretty busy photographer and earns lot of dollars.

Personally I think so. The new Nikon D3s blows away canon with there HUGE ISO sensitivity..
I have used both canon and Nikon. I prefer nikons menus, button placements, and the Auto Focus is much better.
There are always going to be PROs and CONs for either company.
Just pick what suits your lifestyle best.
