@PhantomAct You can in a way, if you have a large enough laptop ( generally 1G or more of memory ).Here is what I did to a desktop. First I got fed up with Windows because I got a virus. It wasn't because of the virus, but the reaction to it when I tried to remove it. I got advice from a lot of people who were telling me to run programs without telling me what the programs were doing. I said "this is like the old IBM mainframe priesthood" and went Linux.
If you just do chroot for Android, it won't work at all. Our architecture is much more complex and involves how to handle all the input / output peripherals.
Do the two operating systems have to be ChromeOS and Android? For example could I have Android and MeeGo?

Wow! Can I do that on my old XP laptop? I just want to switch between XP and Linux until I know enough Linux to ditch Windows completely. Thanks

I put XP on a VirtualBox VM.

the only thing i can think of is that the dm is virtualized, possibly using lxc.
