Vaseline would worsen it, your best bet is to NOT apply any lotions or crews to your body (as you want maximum grip and lotion will make you slip!) I use gymnast chalk, or goldbond powder if I dont have any chalk around.

i dont really know what u mean...do u have your knees bent at all... if not then u have one leg on each side of the pole
