Snooks is probably best known outside New Orleans by record collectors most of whom have been fooled all these years. Snooks was never really an acoustic rural/country blues street musician. He did these tracks for cash and they were pawned off on an unsuspecting public by record biz types of the era that exploited his eerie talent for playing this stuff. In New Orleans he was known as probably the greatest modern funk/R&B electric guitarist capable of drawing from dozens of styles.
Chuck Berry did this in 1959.
