at 5:38 to 5:56 theres Dunc Brannans hoose with the auld hooses that was there before victoria rd flats" that brilliant " would love to know the auld street name of that row i was a terror in the area as a youth between from the 70's til the late 1990's best place to grow up as a youngster back then..Ronnie Perrie
My great grandmother Mary Cairns was born in Buckhaven 1874. There were two Mary Cairns born there that year. Mine left with her parents after 1881 census for Smoky Stockport and the cotton mills. Her father Robert had a sister Agnes Cairns b.about 1850 Kirkcaldy who married a coal miner from Buckhaven called Turnbull. I must have distant cousins on this film. Thank you
@atlast1948 thats amazing,, that why im so glad i uploaded this, just the sheer buzz it gives other people.... brilliant,, glad you enjoyed the film my friend...
And yeah, the name cairns and turnbull are still in this town my friend...
0.26 centre of frame thats my house that is! to the left is the auld hoose pub and to the right the butchers freezer store! Its a shame the rest of it has gone.
Watching this makes me wish that my dad was still here to see it. He would have loved this and probably would have recognized some of the people too. Thanks so much for this. It gives us all who weren't born yet a chance to see what Buckhaven was like then. Thank you so much.
My dad told me lots of stories about Buckhaven growing up, in the 1930s and 1940s. I just had those and photos, I feel like I just went back in time. I love the east coast of Fife.
