  • ok um like who uses cb's now? what do boats use? like what is the diffrence between a cb and a uhf vhf marine radio things? what should i buy, what is what? what is the uhf vhf who uses them?

  • @SoccerDJRob

CB is HF, marine (boats) use VHF. HF can propagate far over the horizon with relatively low transmit wattage, but it is prone to atmospheric interference from the ionosphere when it does bounce. VHF is generally line-of-sight, but it can propagate a bit over the horizon. UHF is line-of-sight only, and propagates well indoors.

Long story short, all three work well outdoors, but HF and VHF work best, while UHF is better suited for communications in a building.
