cool vid.i truly believe we no little about ancient history.History is written by loosers in the long term and winners in the short. With internet,tv media etc...people today don't agree on what happened 5 years ago never mind 2000 yrs ago.i read a book thats main focus was on the greek military alex inherited.it claimed that not only was Alexander not gay but he was not very sexual at all and that he rarely drank but when he did he would go nuts which he did when he killed clitus the black.
Who cares about what color Alexander's hair was. In this day and age, after what we've been through with the Nazis and their ridiculous idea that blond, blue-eyed people are superior to darker peoples, I find it hard to believe that people are even debating this, or taking it seriously at all. It is obviously a completely bankrupt assertion with no basis in fact (and I am a blond, blue-eyed Anglo-Saxon).
Actually Bjjownsu10, blonde hair, blue eyes do have
Germanic and nordic origin. I'm not sure where you've done your research in genetics . but your just plain wrong.
many different nations have blonde genes true, but the origin is definetly in Northern europe. Macedonians are closely related to northern slavs who are more connected to germans than to arabs.
Man, in this video Dr. Farrokh goes to great lengths in trying to prove the skin and hair colour of Alexander and Roxanna. Although I see his point that it is important to convey a true image to avoid unnecessary prejudice, this video is but a lowly discussion about skin and race; like this would have anything to do with individual characteristics! We've got to be careful with making this connection. Instead, try and base your judgement of a person on an individual basis and over time. Cheers!
There's really no evidence either way. On one hand, the Macedonians were closer to the Germanic peoples than the other Greeks, on the other, they were still fairly Greek.
you are not wrong. but remember that the ancient greeks were not the same as modern greeks and were known as a blonde and blew eyed race.Achilles was known as the golden haird hero and helen of troy was also blonde and they are not masadonian. king philip is described as a ginger or a red head.when you read the iliad, homer desribes his greeks as fair haird and colourd eyed. and the blonde midle easterns that are desendents of alexanders army prooves that the anciant greeks where infact blonde.
Good point. There have been Central Asians with blond hair and blue eyes, and many Persian Emperors were blonds and redheads. It's conceivable; the ancient Greeks came in all shades, and all we have are some Roman copies of Greek busts and a Roman mosaic as evidence.
Even if 100% of the Greeks were blonde. They have no relation to Germanics. Blondism is not strictly a Germanic, Nordic, anglo-saxon, viking, scandinavian trait. Modern Greeks for sure are more Greek than Germanics. It is dumb for people to try to relate to historic figures by claiming their hair a certain color. The majority of the Greeks weren't blonde and they weren't Germanic.
First of all it's ovias that this guy has not read robin lane fox' Alexander the great, but is judgeing him thrue oliver stone movie ,because stone used fox's book as resource for Alexander
I have read many books on Alexander, and like most people ,found fox's version far superior than all the ather. I also thought that the film had very little to do with robin lane's book. Robin lane fox is known as a desiple of Alexander and he himself said there's a lot of things in the film that he douse not agree with .and robin lane choosing the actore for Roxana is a lie .
. no one should look at the movie and acsept it as fact because what oliver stone tryde to do was put Alexander's amasing life in one short film wich is imposable. Therefore stone mix and matches the story to fit the timing
Aldo the title of this vid is Alexander wasn't blonde . he some how proves that the ancient greecs where infact blonde.{why?}the ancient greeks are a race of blonde and ginger people. That's why there so many blonde middle easterns and egyptans today who are decendants of Alexander army. Why would that be if the greeks where not blonde. And he staits that Alexander was just blonder than the average greek ,wich would of made him very blonde
The ceramic portrait wich shows Alexander with brown hair was made made many years after Alexander's death ,and is not based on any actwal portrait of Alexander ,because there was no portraits maid of Alexander , just statues. And also that portrait was not ment to repracent Alexander's appearance , but just the event that took place.
And Alexander geniral's was not upset over Alexander turning Persian ,because Alexander was not turning pirsian , he was mixing the coltures of Persian,Egyptian ,Bactrian and hindu customs with greek, not "just pesian"and that's why he's genirals who were raised to believe greeks were the superior race{just what Aristotle teeched his students}including Alexander
I my self am Kurdish {a decendant or relative of the Persians}. Hence the bad spelling. Lol. Aldo I am closer to the Persians than greek . I am going to disagree with my Persian friend.because what he sais is not the truth . specialy about robin lane fox.

It's impossible to say one or the other.
