Interesting - but I suspect had you placed the cube in a bowl under therunning water it would have taken longer. The strainer allowed the cold water from the cube to flow free. In all the other examples the cold water was also being warmed and as it evaporates it creates a coolder sorrounding for the cube. Similar to how evaporative cooling systems work. But that was still fun to watch.
mixing hot water with cold water would've been the quickest.
