I am thinking of hiking and camping around IR for my first time next summer. Do you have any helpful tips or tricks? Where did you stay? Were wolves or moose a problem for you? What about the weather? Was it very cold at night? Thank you for any feedback!! :)
I hate to rain on a parade, but I have been to the UP and Isle Royale trumps the entirety of Michigan. It should belong to Minnesota by the way :( I guess your point still stands though, the UP is super pretty :) Much love!
Who cares? It's only psychological warfare! Do you win or do the bugs win? I choose to love to hate the bugs, but I always get on with any camping trip regardless 'O da bugs. Paz mi compadre!
I'm off to Isle Royale in Aug 2007. I'm doing some of the same trails. Doing the greenstone from Windigo to Chickenbone then Minong on the way back. 7 days and 6 nights. I heard you mentions the Porkies which I love too. Great vid, I'll be seeing those places. I hope you'll go back.
Thank you! This video is ok but I was pissed because my camera died right after the beaver pond segment and there were some tremendous hikes and experiences afterwards. The Minong is a tough trail but for some reason the hikes we did in the Porkies beat me up more. I think it was the Correction or Connection trail that wiped me out one day. I plan on putting up a video on the Porkies very soon. All the best on your hike. Isle Royale rocks!
Fantastic video! I'm heading to the island in two weeks and your video increases my anxiousness, tenfold!!!! Personally, I would never carry a video camera with me due the extra weight, but I'm so glad you did!!!! I'll actually be doing the same part of the Minong and Greenstone and will also camp at Hatchet Lake one night. I'll be coming in from Copper Harbor to Rock Harbor, instead. Thanks again!
Hi trailgoat! I posted something on Backpack you can read. I'll tell you right now, you are going to have a great trip and hike, based on the trails you are on. Thanks for the comments!

The UP should really be part of Wisconsin and Isle Royale should really be part of Cananda.

Please Elaborate... I hear some cabins are in family ownership still. Are you talking about these lucky people or the rangers?

This is great! I'm going to Isle Royale in early August 2008. How were the bugs, particularly the black flies and mosquitoes?
