  • do you have neons with silver dollar fish?

  • howmany species of dollars r there in ur tank ?

  • what fish is that yellow one?? nice tank btw!

  • sorry im just continuing on my first comment..the SD im looking for you to identify is one of the smaller ones at around 0.30 its not the one with the red spot on its sides...its one of the most "circular" looking ones and has a slighty longer red anal fin (but it isnt one of the ones with the black stripe)

    Thanks!

  • snotbog1, you seem to be an expert on silver dollar species and i just purchased 5 for a 75 gallon tank of mine. Im trying to figure out what species they are as they look a little different than the typical ones. From what i can see, you have one silver dollar that looks exactly the same as mine..what species of silver dollar is at 0:30 ? it is just below the chinese hi fin banded shark. it isnt the one with the red spot on its side and it isnt one of the striped ones, or the larger regulars

  • they looked like piranhas and pacus :)

  • do they still school together? if so, do their patterns give them a sort of rank?

  • no not the hi fin shark, the fish at 0:11 with the black and orange striped tail ??

  • @TheROLO27

Oh, that's the flagtail. I feature him in some of my vids.

  • wow you have lots of nice fish, what on earth is that shark thing with the colourfull til ?????

  • @TheROLO27

    Banded hifin shark

  • Thanks. That's a silver distichodus.

  • @snotbog1 is that a golden tench

  • @fatheaded2k7

it's a rosy red minnow (big one)

  • @snotbog1 how old is it? or how long does it take it to get that big and that color?

  • @themattcam777

about a year, mine are over three now

  • Hi Nice fish what is the big fish in the background at five seconds?

  • Beautiful red hooks

  • @TheJake7689

    thanks, actually they're black bars

  • I love your tanks

    Nice silver dollars

I just got some too check out my videos

  • What size tank is that?

    I'm looking to put 7 or 8 in a 60 Gallon.

  • @avq5

  • Wtf....how some of ur silver dollars got a black colour on them?

  • @injectorcy

  • whats the fish at 0:11 with the striped tail? i want one of those :)

  • @Siukaay

  • what is the fish a 0:11 with the stripy fin, i love it, nice vid :-)

  • Comment removed

  • they look abit like pacus :)

  • @riceicles123 well, their in the same family lol. pacus, paranahs, silvers, etc... same family

  • Beautiful beautiful beautiful, how old are they?

  • @poemsforcreation

    thank you, 3 years now

  • By the way, what kind of Dollars are the ones with the single black bars down their sides? I have 6 Dollars myself, but mine are only the plain ones with the red fin (like the other ones you have). I'd be interested in knowing - they are beautiful!

  • @mllefantine

    black bar myleus

  • Gorgeous dollars!

  • what kind of fish can u keep with a SD?

  • @DOOKIEROLLS

    almost anything

  • What the hell is the thing at 0:37? I don't think I've ever seen that fish before.

  • @Sursion7

    silver distichodus

  • also i have 5 silver dollar, 3 rainbow sharks, and 3 giant danios in a 40 gallon. is that over stocked?? i have a top fin 40 and and bio-wheel 150 so i have 350 gallon per hour of filtration? will they live as they age or will i have to upgrade?

  • @anajoyner

Bigger is always better but as long as you don't buy more, you should be o.k.

  • @anajoyner

    black bar myleus

  • is that a flag tail?

  • what is the fish at the bottom of the screen at 1:03 ?

  • @797colton

    Keyhole cichlid

  • That's weird... I have a silver dollar too but I don't see a slash mark crossing vertically through their bodies. Instead, mine exposes two black dots near his gills.

  • How many SD do you think will work in a group? Right now I have 2 SDs. Would a shoal of 3 or 4 work?

  • probably. the more the better

  • is it ok to keep them with smaller fishes like tiger barbs ? nice silver dollars by the way :)

  • absolutely

red hooks may eat small neons

  • I did and the tiger barbs nipped the silver dollars like crazy. It was a bad situation.

  • Nice Emperor Red Hooks....

  • wow, this is the coolest silver dollar tank i have ever seen. where can i get the ones with the black bar?

  • Good question. I bought mine in December so maybe check online in the fall, early winter. I've only seen them available once around here.

  • also do you have any tips on trying to make a school? i got one big one one small one and one in the middle. how many more do i need to buy and what sizes? ive got a 55 gallon tank.

  • maybe two more, depends what other fish you presently have. These fish get pretty big.

  • yeah i know but do you have any tips on what to feed them so they get as big as yours? i feed them romaine lettuce cucumber flake food and brine shrimp.

  • @tristanoliva

I give mine a variety of dry foods

  • can I fit 3 SD fish (silver dollars) in a 33 gallon

  • I suppose but you might need to upgrade as they grow.

  • you can really put as many as you want. it all depends on how often you want to clean. upgrade later.

  • these are really beautiful fish, i have 2 really small ones at the moment in with my black ghost knifefish and raphael cat, upgrading from temporary tank at the moment to a 40 gallon i think which should create a lot more swimming space :)

  • cool, post a video!!!

  • lol i dunno how, never thought about uploading a video, might do it once i get the new tank established in which case i'll leave a comment :)

  • how many do u recommend for a 200 litre (55 gallon) tank, cheers?

  • see below minus 2 or 3

  • absolutely amazing! how many gallons? 5 stars!

  • thanks, 85 gallons

  • awesome, ive got a quick question if you dont mind. well how many SD's can i have in a 75 gallon tank? and what kind of smaller/medium sized american cichlids can go with them (convict, firemouth, ect.)?

  • depends on how many other fish. I have 9 in my 85 but they're a bit cramped. Almost any S Am cich's will work as long as space allows.

  • cool thanks sorry for all the questions..but i would have one male firemouth and i also have a blood parrot cichlid that everyone in the house really likes so he's staying too. I also may add a convict if i can. so with these fish already in the tank can i have at least 5 SD's? (if my filtration really effects how many i can have, then i have just over 800 gallons per hour worth of filtration) again sorry for the questions

  • I'd start with 5, you can always add more later

  • i recently went into a fish store asking about black bar silver dollars and i was in formed that these fish are hard to come by. I was told that they have to be caught in the wild and are not breed locally like the red hook or standard silver dollars. Was it hard for you to find the black bar silver dollar? and do you remember how much you paid for one when you purchased them?

    absolutely beautiful fish!

  • These fish were purchased in December (perhaps they're seasonal). I've only seen them once in 3 stores during that short window. I paid 20 dollars each for them when they were around 3 inches or less.

  • how big do the silver dollars get

  • typically around six inches although my largest are eight

  • Very nice Prochilodus... Good strong colors.

  • thanks, he's a cool fish. Def. rules the tank

  • ******Gorgeous*******

  • thanks

  • beautiful tank mate LOL, im keeping my silver dollars with a jardini saratoga atm buuutt ive got another tank setup ready to move them when the jardini starts to get aggressive

  • never been into the silver dollars,,but think i am changing my mind,,,,,really nice fish.

  • thanks

  • Beautiful!

  • thanks

  • thank you

  • Beautiful tank!
