I thought all electronically recorded records should only be played on a electric player

The first all electric victrolas were offered by Victor around 1926 but the pickups still had a heavy pickup and steel needles, but the numbers being purchased, due to their high price, still paled in comparison to the Orthophonic Acoustic phonographs being sold and still in American homes by the time the depression hit. I like to be historically correct, and play these historic records, on the machines they would most likely have been played on during the time period featured.

Also, the first Electrically recorded records came out in the early part of 1925, and the fully acoustical Orthophonic Victor line of Victrolas, did not make their appearance until "Victor Day" in November of 1925. These machines, including the Credenza were still all Acoustic with internal folded exponential horns, an improved all metal "brass' reproducer designed to used steel needles. Even during the early depression era, the vast majority of Americans were using their older acoustic macines.

nice version of this tune; i believe the singer is dick robertson. i also have a 1925 credenza orthophonic and love it; i found it many years ago in the back of an antique store, and i wouldn't part with it; the sound is terrific. thanks for sharing. keep spinning those great tunes.

Thanks for your comment Bill. Yes these early Credenza's have so much going for them. The original Credenza name (before Victor went to the numbering system for its orhophonics), the more modern logo on the lid, before complaints by dealers, changed it to the more common V shaped logo, and that fabulous sounding early brass reproducer, before Victor went with Pot Metal .
