@cozzy3002 They don't mean anything by it. Taking your hat off in situations like this isn't a natural thing to a lot of people. It's more of a southern and old school kind of thing.
@JeeRaph I mean, I know not everyone likes sports, but every sporting event people are asked to take their hats off for the anthem, moments of silence, etc. Also Cloutier and Reese were old school kind of guys. Just would be nice if some of the younger guys would've taken their hats off and showed some class. I'm 27 and I'm from Minnesota so I don't think it's an exclusively a southern kind of thing.
i came into poker shortly before Chip passed away and so didn't know all i should about him at the time. Watching old games with him and reading the story of his life he was an amazing player and a stand up guy i wish to have known. I just don't want the gut punches of T.J. and Doyle passing on to ever come
I think that the guy on the video is T.J. Cloutier ,but i dont understand why he stand so disrespectful whit his arm in his pocket during the speach:( RIP CHIP
I cant believe im just hearing about this today. Chip was my favorite player, just because he was a true poker pro. Never threw a fit and always seemed calm. Loved watching him play! A Chip to heaven!
He made a big boom in the 2006 HORSE Event. It's a real shame we couldn't see him dominate poker for a longer period of time. Though it's not just that. He had a great personality. There's no way to dislike him. His son made a speech about how great a father he was. But the good thing is that he lived a good life. RIP Chip Reese.
I know he dominated the cash games, but the public never got to see that. He was a great player all around. Just wish we could of seen more of him since he stated not too long ago that he was going to play in more tournaments.
at 14 seconds, I cant believe that he passed away, he was arguably one of the best players in the world and one of the best cash players
My friend was really saddened by the news because Chip was his role model and I can tell you right now he was my friends role model because of his even keel in bad situations and of how nice of a person he really was.
Chip will always be remembered as one of the greatest poker players of all time, in more ways than one. Chip was a true gentleman, and he will be missed by everyone in the poker world.
really classy for TJ to do that. i'm 24 and may be old fashioned, but in moments when you show respect like the national anthem or a moment of silence, take off your hat please. just noticed a few people didn't.
