On both TARP/AIG and the omnibus spending bill, the Repubs have tunnel-visioned right in on a small fraction of one per cent of the big picture and done their best to sound like a bunch of blue collar roughnecks instead of sounding like knowledgeable leaders. I find their quasi populism particularly amusing in view of how they have worked to transfer wealth to the wealthy and gut the middle class, and their devotion to keeping those same blue collar roughnecks from earning union wages.
