I must be lucky or something because I havent had a problem with mine. I bought mine in October. The only thing I can figure is because its a new body style that the kinks need to be worked out.
is it just me, or do lots of gay men like the focus? i am gay myself and have been obsessing over getting a ford focus myself. too bad about the reliability, though. will wait and see.
Wanna know how good a car company is...look at their warranty. Hyundai Kia 10yr 100,000 mile warranty. Korean car companies are becoming high quality. Enough said.
The reason you having this problem is when you rolled up on the Ford lot you had "sucker" written all over you, but dont feel bad because I own a 94 Ford Taurus so It seemed I arrived a Ford lot and got "suckered" too...
It seems to me that all these fitment problems were probably there when you bought the car. Did you thoroughly inspect the vehicle before you bought it?
@metalmachine467 Hyundai gauruntees the trade in price now - with returns as high as Toyota or Honda. They do have whiny engines but my 2 friends that that have Hyundais swear by them which is more than I can say about the Ford Focus. Either way I'll be stuck with my new white 2012 Focus for a couple years now.
@notreallyhere1022 WOW ur the 3rd Youtube talking about his brand new2012Focus having problems with the engine, exterior, interior & of course the shitty MyFord technology is still the same(slow&crashes).Thxs4the video I really appreciate it,cause I would have bought a Focus(Hatchback)cause of the car reviews. But after seeing this&other videos Im glad I bought a2012Hyundai Elantra LIMITED model.Dont have1bad thing2say about it.Compact Car of the yr in2011&2012.
@notreallyhere1022 Hyundai Mid size sedan of the yr in2011was Sonata.I rented that car&drove it too.Great car&in my opinion Hyundai vehicles look the best inside&outside.Kia look great also but the inside looks outdated&cheap.
The brand new 2013 Ford Fusion looks great inside&outside.Do U know any1that said they had the same problems in the 2012 Fusion???
@Involvement82 I don't like them like I used to. If I could do it all over again with the same budget I should have went with the 2011 Hyundai Elantra
dude stop whining about your ford vehicle lol.. it's a ford, what u expect? A lexus.. you pay cheap, then u must drive cheap, enjoy your car big nose :)
@Involvement82 that is the stupidest thing I have ever heard. To tell someone who bought a Ford Focus to buy a Lexus instead. Obviously I didn't have the money - and even if I did I wouldn't want to look like a pretentious prick like you by driving one. The dealership has already replaced my car. The one in this video was a lemon - the new one doesn't have any of these problems.
I have seen this kind of problem on the assembly line, they normally hit the door frame with a rubber mallet to align it properly with the body.
New model release anxious to get it on the market = poor quality control and likely new staff put on to make them.
They maybe also using some European panels and different tolerances can happen between plants; and as somebody said new cars do get damaged in transit. Contact Ford directly.
This is bullshit dude. With ALL the problems ford and the other US companies have had (can u say bailout) you would think they would stand by their products. At least for PR sake. Terrible. Get a lawyer and let everyone on the news, youtube, know how shitty this product really is and how you are being treated. I was intrigued by this car , but now will NOT be looking at one. I will never ever buy American for that matter. Good luck man. Get mad and even.
@hvcshow thank you. I am working on all those things. Also dropped it off again for more repairs at a different dealership this time. Lemon law in VA is 30 days in the shop in the first year and a half. Still having new problems. Now one of the rear windows goes REOOOWWWWW-W-W-W-W when you put it up or down. This car is such BS.
sorry you have had these problems; I have a12 year old European made Ford Focus, it has now 170000 kms and I have never experienced any of these problems regarding finish or reliability, and it doesn't have a single rattle... where are they assembling them for the US market?
@lffit My brother has a 1999 Focus 1.8 4cylinder petrol with manual gearbox. He has hammered it and it's on 160,000miles and still as quiet as the day he bought it. It's a workhorse! The only problem he had was someone pinching his mirrors to put on ebay, children used to do this before the police caught them. The car had a new set of brakes and backbox for the exhaust, just general wear & tear. Absolutely no other problems, I'm amazed as I've had two cars in the same time!!!!
again, ford is just like every other US automakers, has very bad quality cotrol, instead of spending the money on quality check, they rather pay off the auto magazines and so called consumers guides....one example is consumer guide, they rate 2012 ford focus has the same acceration rating as a hyundai sonata 2.0t which has more than 100 hp over the focus....what a joke...
I really want to feel for you, but you're complaining about the fit and finish of a, more or less, entry level car. You're going to have these types of issues with a car like that, it doesn't mean it's a bad car. I bought a new '98 Saturn SC2 who's hood wasn't perfectly aligned (the front corner rubbed the fender edge and started chipping the paint almost immediately). I gave that car to my niece last year with 100,000mi on it.
Sorry to hear about the problems you're having with your new car. Some of the comments I see here asking "what did you expect?" are completely absurd and should be ignored. Your gripes are perfectly reasonable, and the dealer/Ford response thus far has been totally unacceptable.
dude no offence but what does that inconvenience you? does it leak water when it rains and get you all wet? if it does im sorry, that is bullshit, if not, give me a break, fords right to not give you warranty. what do you expect of a domestic car maker? if you want quality buy a BMW dude, thought people would of learned this by now.
its called man up and fix it and stop complaining about stupid little shit. its the first year of the mk3 focus what do you expect. EVERY manufacturer will have bugs of a first year car.......
Dealer told me they could only push the rubber piece up some but that every Focus on their lot has this problem! The head service manager told me the seal will probably eventually get pushed back down and might stick again! What a joke!
And whats the price difference between your Ford Focus and an entry level Audi or BMW that would about the same "trim" level? 21k is not cheap by any means however, it sounds more like you settled for a cheaper car that you could afford, but still want the same quality of the vehicle that you cannot afford.
All European Fords suffer that same problem. All the previous European Focuses, Mondeo's, Galaxies, C maxes and S maxes always suffer that with the exterior rubbers sinking inside the door frames. Fords are just built like junk with the sloppiest build quality imaginable you should buy a VW Golf or an Audi A3 instead.
@notreallyhere1022 I used to work for Enterprise rent a car driving all the previous models of Focuses to this one. Ford never change the quality on rubbers, trims and plastics they always remain the same. Its like they have a non exsistant quality control, I remember the previous Focuses having bad irregular gaps at the ends of the dashboard. They tell everyone its gone up in quality to the last model but they never do. One step forward is always one step backwards on something else.
@1ns4ne1d10t You're right. It isn't better all around. There are a bunch of things they cheaped out on in this car. If I had the money I would have bought an Audi but I was at the very top of my budget to buy a car that cost 21k
@notreallyhere1022 Ford kept saying "We are up there with BMW, we closed the quality gap" I was less then impressed to find rear drum brakes on most models, an old bent pole to prop the bonnet, with doors and bonnets still dropping down with a clang. I was a bit miffed by all this "German quality" they've got it and I was expecting a Focus to be very good. I was let down, I've driven new shape BMW's and Audi's at Enterprise and they are much better on attention to quality then Fords.
@notreallyhere1022 Whatever materials they improve on they cheapen in compensation for the next model. So when you add it all up the quality hasn't gone anywhere. Ford are very good at fooling you into thinking there is a big improvement by making things you can visibly see a better quality. They just massively cheapen the bits you aren't likely to notice or touch. I noticed with new Fiestas the exterior rubber door-frame seals deteriorate and they tear away from the front door at 1 years old!
@1ns4ne1d10t My moms Ford expedition has an amazing build quality on the outside and I'm suprised at the little scratch her back bumper has because so many cars and trucks have hit it and all their cars get smashed in the front but nothing technical ever happens. The inside is a different story, the two window motors stopped working on the left side and the left backdoor doesn't seal all the way so your able to hear the road outside clearly. I still like the way fords look though
@besteli1 With Fords even if they are a good example the quality just isn't there. You notice how bad Fords are especially when you drive an Audi A4. Mondeo's and Contours are really crashy and rattly in comparison to A4's on the inside and they feel much more flimsy as a car. Yet once upon a time they tried to say the Mondeo/Contour was up there with the German competition. No way man no way.
I must be lucky or something because I havent had a problem with mine. I bought mine in October. The only thing I can figure is because its a new body style that the kinks need to be worked out.
