David byrne is clearly the leader and is a large part of the creative process that produced such amazing songs. They actually show Terry (who is doing some great bass lines), but we have an invisible solo guitarist. I'm not sure whose idea it is to keep the camera on David (it is better in the amazing concert video stop making sense, but even then the sidemen and other band members are filmed mainly in relation to David. As a now historical document, I wish they would have shown the whole band.

@pbl1 i have never seen DB lip-synch in my life and they aren't doing it here either because it doesn't sound like any other version (or studio version) at all.
I saw this tour in Davis, California - have never forgotten standing in front of Tina during this astounding song played live- - thanks so much for the upload!
I find Remain in Light kind of dull. FOM is my fave, then More Songs, then probably Speaking in Tongues, then Little Creatures. True Stories is last. I'm not sure how I'd arrange the others.
Uncommon concert footage...where Byrne actually sings straight-up (no back-up singers). I have no objection to the broad guest-artist approach, but hearing the band attack a complex song is cool.
This point in the talking heads history really shows a blosoming/transition of creativity that went on to make them the Giants that they became. Love this effort.
I love the whole album, it was number one for me in the 11th grade. I saw them in central park about 1980 expecting to hear these songs and I got a whole lot of Remain In Light, I was like in a culture shock and a lot of the audience was too. I guess it grew on us though afterward but I wish they had played Fear of Music for me that concert, I was really bummed, lol. Guess I can relive what I missed now, huh? Great post thank you!
I recall Robert Fripp called "Fear of Music" "album of the year", at the time. That was when Robert believed in seership (he being the prophetic seer), and in "small mobile intelligent units", which in part meant touring playing tiny venues!
Well then, it's not so much that the Police were my favorite band during that time but the Talking Heads were my second favorite band and that was only because I would rather be Sting than David Byrne. But David Byrne was a better songwriter than Sting. I did try making some flippy-floppy during those days but was for the most part unsuccessful.
christ on a cross in a gay parade, thanks for uploading this video! these are, like pianoman said, my favorite tracks on the album(besides heaven, of course).
Fear of music is such a great album! Easily my favorite of theirs!!

Pity it isn't in sync. So many versions with the expanded prog version of Talking Heads. Loved this simple stuff. Thanks for posting!

@pbl1 Sorry but you are confusing poor engineering mixing for lip synching. Talking Heads and David Byrne have never lip synched.

i agree with you diggs87, but it seems everybody wants to call "Remain in Light" their best - i like that album, but not even close to FOM

Tina Weymouth is fit. And makes some funky bass lines.

@kanegills: I was at a live concert in the early '80s and when the band was introduced, she got the biggest round of applause. Everybody loves her.

In fairness, they're surronded by air. The show's producers must not have know to remove the air from the stage.
