Paul squire comes into my pub :) I was too young to know who he was till i asked what he did, looked it up and woah, i know a celebrity an he is really funny :) Shame the show didnt last as long as it did :(
I am fairly sure my dad said he used to work with Paul Squires many years ago as a draughtsman. Might have been at John Brown engineering if i remember rightly. It would have been in the late 70's/ early 80's.
Annoyingly, the aspect ratio on this is badly messed up. It's even more annoying for me, as I'd uploaded it. I shall try and find the clip again, and re-submit it.
Didn't he used to do this thing every now and then on his series. He clapped his hand, popped a finger in his mouth and then slapped his knees? Or something like that but he sprang to mind only the other day and decided to look him up on youtube. Isn't there ANYTHING youtube doesn't snow?! Amazing stuff.
I remember Paul Squire - it's a pity there's no clips of him on You Tube as he was a very funny man. I especially liked his "Watt's My Name" sketch as well as the funny gesture he used to do before each sketch. Anyone remember the full words of his "It's me PS" song?
Glad to hear Paul Squire's still active and doing well. When someone stops appearing on telly, for many people, it's as though they cease to exist. I remember him on a Bob Monkhouse chat show translating Billy Joel's 'Just The Way You Are' into Geordie. I'd love to see that again. Wasn't there some kerfuffle when he moved to the BBC? I remember his last ITV series going out just after the children's programmes at teatime, which I assumed to be ITV burying it because he'd defected.
Paul is a legend. I sense some jealousy, he's a wealthy man, mabe that's it? He's also a very funny & kind man. I've had the pleasure of many evenings with his company. Also his son Jamie is amazingly talented. So there's something else for you to try & find a way to make fun of? Jealousy & self-loathing can't take up all of your time surely? You really should try getting a life or even just a hobby.
I know Paul and he is a great man. He has been in my local golf club on numerous occassions and his brother used to be the steward. Well done Jamie for defending your dad!!
there are certainly a few nobs on this site. Paul's lad jamie is correct, Paul still earns big bucks all over the world. Worked with him myself a couple of times.
hello! its me! p.s. i'll try to make you happy! its the paul squire show! (embarrassing silence) good bye its me p.s. i'm so please be happy (thunderous applause!!) lol i remember watching the p.s show way back in the early 80s. it was bad(not as in good!) but bad as in terribly...unfunny! i wonder what mr squire is doing these days?
Paul Squire......my DAD, is doing very well for himself actually touring the world like he has been doing since he was 12! Yes he is referenced in "The Young Ones". Bigbreadeaterellis, you're a bit of a Dick really......When you make as much money as he has then you can criticise, until then do us all a favour and shut it. Tosser! haha oh yeah, you've got the opening title sequence lyrics completely wrong! idiot!haha
I played drums for Paul at the Clacton Summer Season of '81, when he was still riding high from his appearence at the Royal Variety show. He was really good and brought the house down every night, and I got on very well with him. I'm glad to hear he's still at it!..
HI Jamie,i knew your mum and dad a long time ago.Your brother Ben was born on the same day as my son James.Tell him Jimmy and i devorced 20 years ago.I would love to hear from them.Kath Ormerod.
Paul Squires is a comic legend. I will always chuckle at his "style" Its just a real shame British TV failed to snap him up. He is a true trooper.. the housewives choice lol

paul i am sorry
i have not seen my comments for 5 months and now i have i realise it has caused offence for which i am sorry.
can i also add that i can understand you coming to the defence of your dad
but it would have been better to do it in a way that isnt offensive.

Yes. The joke being no one knew who Paul Squires was, where he came from, or indeed where he is now.

Nice to see they spelled his name wrong on the promo subtitle.

they didn't spell his name wrong. his surname is Squire, not 'Squires'

Didn't he win Search for a Star back in 1980-ish or summat?
I loved those ITV promos.
