Straight off the red hot streets of Phoenix AZ, and coming to you out of the deep shadows of soul. Damn, it's Arlester "Dyke" Christian and the Blazers - a wraith - a legend - a sound in the dark. It's seems like I can dream that actually saw them. And in the shadow dream those exact same beautiful barefooted sisters would be dancing away on that turntable. You know I'd walk 25 miles for my sunshine. Thank you so much for the vision of a past I never quite got to have. Soultime USA!!
@BertramScroggs I truly believe that your Great Uncle was on the verge of Superstardom before his untimely death I'm from DC I don't think there is a bigger fan of his than me. God Bless
Thanx for the postintg I'm his biggest fan without a doubt, Funk, Raw Funk Personified and I know funk I'm from DC which is a Funk Town this guy was a monster and he would have been huge if not for his untimely death.
Great rare post. I noticed that funky White Dude playing the guitar, stepping like one of James Brown's JB's. The Late, Great, Brother Dyke was bad, in a super good way.
This is Dyke's version of Ray Charles's clasic rendition.I love Dyke & The Blazers and this is the only known video footage of them.I wish the original band was on video back in 1966-1967.
my favorite dyke and the blazers.
