Nah, the Cop Shoot Cop version is better. I like how detached the vocals sounded, whereas in this one the vocals sound focused and enraged. I don't think it works as well. Same goes for the instruments.
This one shit all over the original version. The lyrics are better, the vocals are better and more fitting, the music itself is better, and the subtle additions that Devin added complete the song. The other one is great, don't get me wrong. But seriously, how can anyone honestly say that the original was in any way better?
The lyrics are identical, so how can they be 'better'? I was actually expecting this song to sound MORE different than the original than this. To me, it's just a gruffer-sounding version of the same thing. So I lean toward the original. As you say though, both are great, I love this song. I think it pretty much comes down to which band you heard first.
@PDXCHawk listen to both versions, and you will hear several differences, maybe just one or two words in a verse, but make it darker and seem like its from a different persons perspective.
