  • Svens Black Metal när den är som BÄST!!!!

  • It doesnt matter that this isnt quite as good as the original, it is dark funeral paying their respects to Bathory

  • You guys are willingly or unwillingly worshiping the devil buy "clapping" your hands to satanically inspired music. Satan has been defeated and walks around with a crushed head in a self deluded state, whilst he waits for his day to face the living God and his eternal doom in hell.

  • anyone know the year of this cover song release??

  • @420metalstoner 98 !? =)

  • Bathory solo wins evertime

  • FUCK YEAH!

  • better than Bathorys :)

  • @pkha75 I disagree but great cover nonetheless

  • lol at the people who bitch more than Oprah on her PMS. It is black metal. It is different than the bathory sound. And I like it this way. This is DARK FUNERAL playing, not Quorthon.

  • they are not Bathory though. Who would want to do that? Bathory can only do Bathory. \m/

  • this is actually better than the original

  • I love the solo. Lord Ahriman kicks fucking ass.

  • this version is better than bathory's

  • good but not dirty as the original!

  • that guitar tone is NASTY... Dark Funeral write the most boring songs imaginable but they are one hell of a cover band! They should stop writing original songs altogether.

  • fucking.....AWESOME!

  • this compilation really disappoints me. there are artists such as dark funeral, marduk and emperor who should have known perfectly the typic bathory sound and atmosphere, but they went out with these mediocre interpretations.

    bathory is inimitable.

    RIP quorthon

  • @JimmyLaVey You're right!

  • @JimmyLaVey I think it's better in some cases that a band try to play covers in their own style, instead of mimicking another band's sound just for the cover. I think it would have been retarded if DF had dumbed down the production just to try and sound more like bathory, instead of themselves.

  • @JimmyLaVey Why should those artists imitate the Bathory sound? The point of releasing a cover is to do a song with your own sound. Which these artists did fairly well.

  • @DarthKrattus why should anton lavey imitate most of ayn rands ideas?

  • @DarthKrattus I think u have the right perspective and opinion and any band that wants to love this song enuf to cover it is worth listening to i think! what if i played it keyboards only w/ vocals? Im sure it would get respect

  • @beavinator420 I think you should do it! Piano version of Bathory.

  • @JimmyLaVey its only meant to be a tribute not an imitation, but yes bathory is inimitable, what would be the point ov covering a song and making it exactly like the original

  • amazing cover i love it \\m//

  • the guitar solo is epic!!

hail to dark funeral, and hail to bathory, especially Quorthon

  • It's much better when Bathory sing it!

  • Call from the Grave is surely my favorite song on Under the Sign of the Black Mark. And Dark Funeral did a mighty fine job of covering it. That main riff is just unstoppable; as well at the lyrics.

  • Always a great song to hear, from bathory or dark funeral. They did such an amazing tribute.

  • wery wery gooood!!!!

  • Nothing against anybody, but those who complain that is not as good as Bathory's original should create a band and cover it for themselves to see how it would sound to you or see if you can do better. Quit the bitchin' people, it's only a cover track, and a damn good one at that. Long time Bathory fan here.

  • This is great, but I miss Quarton... and the real black metal....

  • When Bathory was doing their 'Black Metal' thing in the early 80's, the guys in Mayhem were probably listening to Michael Jackson or top 40 music at the time, or probably weren't even born!

  • @lmr641 mayhem began a year after bathory did

  • @Viperplayer187 You think I don't know that? Ofcourse I do. I was into the Black/Death Metal scene during its heyday.

  • @comedybenj... based on what?

  • Piękne w swojej prostocie. \m/

  • its good but NOWHERE even near as good as Bathory's original......

  • best cover of this song yet.

  • I always wondered what this would sound like re-mastered and this is sick!

  • great!

    a love this.

  • Solo is awesome. But actually they killed this song.

Quorhon has put grief, suffer, pain and death in his vocals in this song. Also the rest of Bathory's original version is more sad.

So I prefer milion times the original...R.I.P. Quorthon-originator of BM, not the gay Venom, but Bathory!

  • Although Venom's Black Metal, released in 1982, was the first record to coin the term, it was Bathory's early albums, featuring Satanic lyrics, low-fi production and an inhuman vocal style, that defined the genre. Bathory formed in 1983 and apparently quorthon heard of Venom after his first album was released.

no point in arguing who started it , let venom have black metal , and give bathory viking metal. They are both outstanding influential bands.

  • @swordarmleadstheway No way, bathory is creator of two genres. I dont understad why the fuck does everybody give credit to Venom. So you name a song which later on gives the name to a new genre and all of a sudden you become the inventor of the genre, no fucking way. Venom is not even thrash metal, its really dirty heavy metal and musically does not sound at all like black metal. Although bathory were the first, they were not the only at that time, check south american bands like Parabellum.

  • @swordarmleadstheway Well, actually Venom is NOT black metal. It's thrash. The genre was named "black metal" after the album's title because Venom was probably the most influental band to any extreme metal band, and especially black metal :)

  • @johnthegreek178 Venom IS Black Metal, just a different, Rock N Roll-ish kind of Black Metal, and the first Black Metal album is not Black Metal, it's Welcome To Hell, listen to their music closer, and you'll see what I mean. I too, used to think that that they're Thrash and not Black...

  • @chaclapa I don't know man, except for the satanic lyrics and the fact that there is some attitude in their music I don't see why Venom is Black Metal. Also, their music lacks alternate picking, something basic in Black Metal. Anyway, Thrash or Black who gives a fuck, I think we are all happy with the music we can listen too, Thrash, Black, Death, Doom or whaterever.

  • Well, pretty good cover and the whole tribute album is cool. But nothing beats the orginal's

  • one of the best black metal vocalist...in my opinion

  • Lol, dark funeral doesn't suck, but yeah they will never beat quorthon, what he did was brilliant.

  • Dark Funeral are good as a cover band... their own songs aren't too distinctive but that is one MEAN guitar tone and they captured most of the feeling of Quorthon's wonderful Chopin "Funeral March"-ripoff guitar solo.

  • dark funeral has an awesome cover of dead skin mask . they have some good songs but many of them sound the same and some have no melody in it.

  • Yep, this is good but it doesn't even come near Quorthon's version.

    Especially the vocals.

  • You need a Swedish black metal band to cover a Swedish black metal band. This is a fine example of how to do it. Indeed, almost improves on the original, but that's impossible, so this cover version is just perfect, not better. You can't improve on perfection.

  • Wow dark funeral is almost doing it better than bathory!

  • almost, to say that they do is blasphemy against Quorthon, and also, Dark Funeral's other songs suck. But good cover indeed.

  • I like this cover
