  • gaddafi should save you if he had the power. or china, first bomb you shithouse in w.c

  • In addition to everything else, eleven men died on the Deepwater Horizon rig. So far, nobody has even been charged for their deaths.

  • Listen to this song

  • ONLY in america. No company in the EU would expose itself to the risk of being caught. That's the US, money before everything, horrible place.

  • After watching this, the only question that I can really ask is:

What kind of a disgraceful place (in this case, country) are we running here when these companies are encouraged to put their profit margins above that of PEOPLE'S LIVES!? It's an absolute shame that worker safety isn't the foremost thing on the mind of these companies - regardless of cost to their bottom line. It's an even BIGGER shame that we aren't fining them out of business for this sort of thing.

  • You can play with me

  • Some of the comments about CIA and auto accidents seem irrelevant. I think if I worked a place where OSHA inspected and said "You know what that machine needs to be fixed or someone is gonna die...." then if the company is negligent and doesn't fix the problem....well that just doesn't sound like a safe place. 36516 deaths per year that are PREVENTABLE; that is a problem that is fixable, so why not fix it?

  • Auto collisions are also a tragedy when they result in a fatality. I think we'd all like to believe that most of them are not caused by negligence. Whether this is true or not, who knows? I think whether or not a fatality occurs while driving or while at work the point remains, negligent behavior is not good. This life is about eachother. People before profit. Beit in the rat race on the highway or the rat race in commerce.

  • That's what goes through my mind when I see people TEXT MESSAGING while driving.

  • The laws of our countries haven't been made to protect us but to protect the Corporations... Nobody has realized that we are in the hands of corporate fascism..

But people are so darned stupid and so brainwashed that they believe that because we seek for laws that protect us against these bastards, we are trying to implement socialism in our countries...

  • The true culprit is the Workers Compensation law in 50 States and ten Provinces of Canada. This law, first created in the early 1900's, in the U.S., and since 1915 in Canada, and 1916 Australia, is an abomination and completely against the working class. Since then we have had our medical and legal rights taken and if we live we have to endure a life sentence of pain, poverty, and stress. They know we are in pain and that pain will kill us. Claim closed. States and Provinces have many suicides.

  • Simple: If I die on the job the company I work for gets $1M. My family gets $Zero. My family will need to file a FELA case. Of course If I die on the job then I must have violated company rules, reducing the company's liability and thus reducing compensation to the family of a dead worker.

  • Although I agree that employers need to provide a safe place to work, this number is a little out of context. According to the CIA Fact Book, 6,744 people die every day, which means only 0.23% of the people who die every day die at work. Seems like work may be extremely safe! :)

Another interesting number, about 115 people die each day in car accidents, that means it is about 7 times more likely you will be killed on your way to work than actually at work.

  • Um, you aren't a genius are ya? You realize, by your statements, people only get in car accidents on their way to and from work. Right?

  • I'm sure it's obvious to most people that's not the point I was making. I'll rephrase it for you. "You are 7 times more likely to die in a car accident, possibly even on the way to work, than on the job."

  • I know nothing about American employment law as I am in the UK but I would love to know if the companies these people work for have them insured with the sort of policy that is mentioned in Michael Moores latest film "Capitalism A love story" I believe it's known as "dead peasant insurance" and it means the company makes a profit from the death of an employee. If that is the case then as the company that is negligent stands to profit from the death of it's employee isn't that Murder?

  • Michael Moore is a horrible source, he has no credibility.

Employers do not carry "dead peasant insurance." Some companies may carry life insurance on the life of a key employee or executive, this is done because it can be shown that the loss of that key employee would cost the company a lot of money. For instance, Microsoft may have a life policy on Bill Gates. Anytime this is done, the insured must approve the arrangement.

  • Having seen Moores new film, premisbrad, which shows the paperwork I can assure you they are abusing the tax break they get on what is meant to be key worker insurance. It's true, have you seen the film? I don't think families that have been effected by it are lying.

  • Michael Moore has no credibility? Based on your posts here, I'd call that the pot calling the kettle black. Could you please tell us which PR firm employs you? Thanks.

  • Employers do have to carry very expensive workers compensation insurance which is used in the event of a death or injury.

  • Not the same thing, premisbrad, the families in the film don't get a penny of the payout and it actually shows the company projections.....you know? which says not enough workers are dying to achieve the projected profit......I am not joking it's real and easy to check out as there have been court cases over it.....we are not talking small companies here but big ones like wal mart....who I believe have stopped doing it since they heard about the film.

  • Lets' move on toward a new international workers movement.

  • check out Texas and IPB co. policys or other right to work states
