uhm...liquid.....why can't i access my account.....?....i did the instructions...ryt.....& it said that...i have to check...my inbox..for d confirmation of my account(daz3d)..then i checked...my yahoo inbox...& my inbox is...empty..what ever shall i do?!
@Stopmoesean, it's just so time consuming. My real life has been so crazy for the last couple of years that I can't find the time. I do enjoy it so hopefully I'll have some new work soon, but I can't make any promises. I have an old German professor character that I've been developing for a more commercial venture. If that takes off I will definitely post the videos here.
@dudekdrew, that's a pretty open ended question...
I always start with a script. Then I record all the voice acting. Next comes the animation, usually done in really short segments. I then take all the short animation clips and put them together in a movie editing program. Sound effects or music is then added and finally I render out the finished product as a complete short film. I always burn a DVD to watch on the "big screen" (ok, my TV) and if it doesn't totally suck, I upload to youtube.
@StringStudios, once it's posted I don't go back. I learned that lesson a long time ago with music (btw, I performed all the music in the vid). If you don't cut it off it'll never be finished.
I totally agree, some judicious editing could definitely make it better. What you're seeing here is like the Director's cut which has every little thing in it, even though it shouldn't be. Yes, the bot is supposed to be boring, but he could have been cut down to help the flow.
Dang! That's a shame because it's a really good idea. I hadn't seen it for two years but I just watched it again and it's still really good. Good luck with other films though!
Thanks. I have a couple friends that do stand up comedy and I sincerely appreciate it when someone tags one of mine lines. Now if only I could get up the nerve to do my schick in front of an audience...
I'll keep you posted if I ever get my HBO comedy special. (Like that'll ever happen)
@xXMastermind1Xx, all the voice acting is recorded first. Then I used a program from Daz called Mimic to animate the talking. The current version of Daz Studio (3.x) has the abilities of Mimic built in, so go for it and make some animation!
amazing :D would you mind telling me (or making a video tutorial) about howe you make these type of things on daz , because the original daz3d ones arent so clear. you dont have too. Thanks!
I'm glad you liked it, I think it has a lot of flaws, but I couldn't see ever getting back to it to make it any better. It's actually just test renders strung together.
The whole thing (writing, voices, music, etc) took about a month, but the animation and renders were only about a week. The rendering would have taken a lot longer if I'd made it higher quality, and the animation would have taken longer if I'd taken more time to tweak it and make it right.
@lomira2, I did the voices of Sparky and the Bot, my wonderfully talented daughter does the voice of Lulu. I do a lot of different voices for storytelling IRL, but Sparky is pitched up a minor 3rd in Audacity and the Bot had a flange effect added.
A lot of people seem really concerned with their voice acting ability. I say just Go For It! ask your friends or family to help out if need be, but don't be worried about it, just Do It!

Here's my basic workflow, though it could vary a little depending on the project:
- Write the story (a very important 1st step)
- Record the dialog
- Use Mimic (available from Daz) to animate the voices
- Use Daz Studio to do the rest of the animation
- Render the animation in small pieces
- Assemble the pieces with an NLE (like Adobe Premiere or Windows Movie Maker)
- Add sound fx & music
- Render the project out of the NLE
- Make a DVD and/or upload to YouTube
