  • teach.

  • somehow i never imgined him as a talker

  • As sure as I am sitting here, this guy is going to be huge!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • he's WEARS MAKEUP creeepy

  • He is an alchemist of fashion, music, and artistry; fusing together a tapestry of emotion, depth, and vision at a very high level of mastery. Few and far between, every so often, a genius comes along like Hahn Bin, who is able to shatter our notions of conventionality by taking unmitigated chances with his artistic dossier. And this, my friends, is a sign of true brilliance of the highest order. I'd like to see him collaborate with other musicians; like Bjork or Laurie Anderson; theatrically.

  • he's... so beautiful

  • WTF is this dude thinking? This is not "art". This is the drivel that he expects he will sell. I'm not buying.

  • It would have been dynamic to see this talent and alexander mcqueen collaborate!

  • Sexy...

  • What is the name of the song he is playing at the beginning?

  • @Brandon09044952 It is Chopin's Nocturne in C# minor.

  • Art/Artists are subjective to each individual person. So, don't worry if someone doesn't like Hahn Bin; it's their own personal opinion. However, it is hard to say that he isn't talented; he's quite phenomenal.

  • I had the honor of playing with this brilliant man at carnegie hall. hes like a modern day tchaikovsky, and the fact that people hate him only reinforces his star power.

  • FABulous

  • We don't let our sensibility for least be taken away from us!

We have a sense for the maximum, too!

    We honour the mediocrity!

    Wolfgang Neuss

  • Reminds me much of young Grace Jones.

But Hahn-Bin, nobody is born an artist! You are so YOUNG and have so much to learn regardless of your achievements & phenomenal talent!

Don't be scared of mediocrity and don't hide in self-conceitment!

  • @nogangstas and Itzhak Perlman.

  • Why the hell am I reading youtube comments?

  • @daniel0731ex I know right??!?

  • @nogangstas he must not so care about chritics' opinion. in recent concert in Seoul, he said "if no one want to hear your serious music or the atmosphere is cold, it's your fault, you could not heat them up, the borrometor can your musicality is not on the critic's hand". many local critics was really upset...

  • For Hahn Bin, everyday is Halloween...

  • Smell a lot of arrogance in this one.

Way to run against the grain, though. Combining pop performance with classical music...

  • He is like the Lady Gaga of Classical Music. Amazing

  • omg i saw your video in class fpr psychology lol we are doing a topic on which your own person and write why you think this person is creative and intellegent...i choose you Hahn-Bin

  • What a great artist, we need more beautiful people creating beautiful music. I'm happy to know he is confident and brave. With out it you are nothing no matter how talented you maybe!

  • I would surely pay to see him! He is awesome.

  • I figured out what makes him so interesting! Yes the makeup and hair and masks are interesting and awesome! But he doesn't have eyebrows at times! I'm guessing he covers them up?

  • @RobotChick1000

Yes, he covers them. I suppose to make his eyes pop.

  • I think its a Chopin piano piece...

  • What's the first piece he plays in this video?

  • @sstutter it's the chopin nocturne in c sharp minor

  • So beautiful, that sound is God coming through his fingers

  • Now THIS will bring the young crowd into classical music...

    Wow!

  • @nailedwit I'm 16 years old and I'm into all sorts of music, one of course being classical music. I play the guitar, drums, violin, cello, and bass. And who is an example of people who inspired me to listen to classical music? None other than Hahn-Bin. So I couldn't say it any better than you did.

  • he's no Nina Flowers, and no Midori, but the intersection of the two and the dialogue he creates is the genius here.

  • And how did Gaga come up in the comments? Lmao. Everytime someone doesn't dress like everyone else does... Gaga comes up? For real? Gtfoh. That bitch didn't invent 'different'.

  • @inasexymood fully agree, if anything, he seems more found of madonna, who he performed for recently at the modern museum of art in new york. but anyway, I too am annoyed with lg fans all over youtube commenting on all artists and somehow including lg in their messages. it's getting rather tiresome. (she's overexposed right now as it is in my honest opinion, i'd like a moment without seeing her name everywhere, hence why i call her "lg" here.)

  • @elajiera It's her young fans who think she invented anything that's different, so they yell 'that's so LG!' when someone wears something out of the box. They are mindless drones who refuse to look up art history.

  • For a moment I saw Key within this young man...

    Perlman protogee indeed

  • Thank you Hahn for acknowledging that it is the artists responsibility to draw their audience in. Continued success and happiness to you.

  • is he gay?

  • the difference between Hahn Bin and Lady Caca is that Hahn Bin has talent.

  • no doubt about his talent but honestly, he needs to quit with the whole "i'm so different-i'm a misfit just like bach and mozart" quotes...it makes him sound like a egotistical person...i thought the point was to promote classical music, not you and how "different" you are to everyone else in the classical music world...we get it that you have your own sense of style. but it's no different to a goth having his own style or a preppy kid having his own style. get it over already!

  • I think I am in love. He is exquisite!!!

  • Come on you guys, don't compare him to Lady Gaga. She's fantastic and I adore her, but Hahn-Bin is his own person and performer. I don't think it's fair to compare him to Lady Gaga simply because he's incredibly fashionable. On the same note, Lady Gaga didn't start the whole movement anyway.

  • Magnificent performances, he is seriously FIERCE!! LOVES HIM

  • lmao a debut in fornt of isaac stern ._.

  • Extraordinarily talented, inspired, motivated and creative.

    Also self-indulgent, superficial, and heavy-handed.

  • Haha1staccount..if you are referring to the first song he plays...it's Nocturne by Chopin...

  • i am so lucky to have been born in this generation...we have gaga, mark zuckerberg the facebook, and bin and more and they are the same age as i : ))

  • What is that song in the beginning? I've heard it so many times, but I just don't know the name.

  • i saw him on the news and fell in love. Anyone who can wear eye makeup like that and play the voilin like that has a place in my heart.

  • @tgrrl5 He is AWESOME. I am absolutely going to reconsider how I feel about my own performances now.

  • I like this dude. :)

  • This guy isn't just someone who plays what he hears.

This guy feels what he plays. You can see it in his movement and expression.

This guy will be someone who will make not only a name for himself here and beyond but also change the way we look at classical music.

  • wtf is he gay? eww

  • @calfan3 Gay and talented. Deal with it.

  • @inasexymood Real and bi-curious!

  • @inasexymood and asian...

  • @lawrentii and fabulous

  • @inasexymood

    obviously he is a Gay....

  • @flute1982 and more obviously, he is a Talented...

  • @calfan3 Doesn't matter if he's gay, he's an individual, and you will respect him as such.

  • @astrophysics1997 no i wont fuck off

  • @calfan3 Did I tell you to fuck off you immature dag?

  • @astrophysics1997 fuck u and ur retarded ass beliefs... FUCK GAYS

  • @calfan3 Well you're a little uneducated shit now aren't you?

  • Apparently he's following a great tradition. Mozart loved outraging people with his music, particularly his operas. Paganini's performances were legendary, to the point that people swore that Old Scratch appeared on the stage next to him guiding his fingers. We need this type of renewal from time to time, let's unleash him on the Republicans!

  • brilliant violinist. twisted freak. another disturbed artist almost certainly destined for a tragic end.

  • Love the music. Why's he dressed like a chick though?

  • Danse Macabre!!! Very fitting for this guy!

  • I'll bet he is a master of the skin flute.

  • @lamentconfig100 is there any other choice to think about why this "thing" is where "it" is?

  • Dont...compare him to Gaga...hahah please.... thats disgusting. Hahn-Bin....is amazing

  • @IzzyWinklePants Agreed. Gaga and Grace Jones have absolutely nothing on this guy. Classical has a stuffy, stiff neck, elite, showoff image. Always has. Like why most go to church, just to show off how good and special they are. Many ppl would like to distance themselves from it because of this image. If classical music business wants to attract more ppl they're going to have to have some humility about this and change. Otherwise, it will continue to have this stinky, wealthy body odor to it.

  • @Freddieboy44 I wish you could understand that what you call "classical music" (which i call REAL music) is so NOT a business, but if you haven't gone any further yet, obviously you won't ever be ready to get into the world of music...such a shame, better more for us! be safe.

  • @CarlitosDessay WTF? You are actually saying to me that because you think of your music as REAL music. I am not intellectually adept & you have a monopoly on what is legitimately thought of as REAL music? I like classical music(or REAL, as you prefer). But you seem to be saying that because I don't think of it in the same way as you then I am too stupid to even have a right to listen to it. You see, that is exactly what I'm talking about. "Only you are smart enough to "get" REAL music. You suck!

  • @CarlitosDessay And further more, if it's not a business then why does it cost so much to bump elbows with the assholes involved with it. You've taken what I have said, got mad, made a stupid ass comment and proved exactly what i said initially. With your statement you have given proof that. usually, the people that listen to this music think that they are more intellegent than the average person. Maybe they are, but I would have enough humility not to say it.

  • @Freddieboy44 Is not we just listen to this music, we ARE this music, because we perform it and know how it is further than "sounds nice or me-no-like-it" I don't pretend to initiate an argument here, i'm no super star in music, but I also study medizin and speak 4 languages besides mine, so I think I can talk longer than experience, even though i'm just 22. I'm sorry that I have ofended you, really, and I don't pretend to be better than anyone, honestly.

  • @Freddieboy44 and one more thing, like you said, I also like painting, architecture, history and art in general, but because I'm not a part of it, even though I'd like to be, don't speak much about it. I hope with all my heart that you can understand what I'm saying to you, and again sorry to have ofended you. Best from Madrid.

  • @Freddieboy44 and, I think it's WONDERFUL that people who are not musicians listen to it, but still (even though you're right and sometimes it's expensive) it's more than just business, or at least I would like it to be more than that (hehehe) I hope you keep listening to it and keep enjoying it, and further than that, get to know it better day by day, because it's one of the few pleasures in life, and that is officially cheap ;)

  • @CarlitosDessay You masturbate alot and think you are unique by thinking that no one else knows that you do so, right?

  • @CarlitosDessay You masturbate alot and think you are unique by thinking that no one else knows that you do so, right?

  • @Freddieboy44 I dont know if I compltely agree. I just think that Lady Gaga and anyone out today have no talent. They know how to get behind a microphone and have their voices mixed right and thats all. I have always loved classical music, and instead of a stuffy feeling, I get a more... peaceful and deep feling from it, though I understand all too well what you are talking about <3 People now-a-days are too dll to apprechiate it, and its nice to see someone embrace classical music like this.

  • @IzzyWinklePants Well, I agree with all that I've read you say. I like this and alot of other music. But what I was saying originally and to you was not a put down on this guy or any of the other musicians that perform classical music.

  • Grace Jones of

  • Changing the face of and attitude toward classical music. He rocks my world!

  • in LOVE!

  • no doubting his ability...that is self evident....i just question if he has talent.

  • I am in love. Hahn-Bin, Find me i want you to play at my debut fashion show. Hopefully you find this comment

  • he is amazing! So much emotionality with his body. A GENIUS. ... He puts his ALL into his music

  • he is amazing! So much emotionality with his body. A GENIUS

  • the adam lambert or lady gaga of classical music!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @CarlotosDessay, what the hell are you talking about?

  • he is just technic, art is so much more than technic, you put this guy out there to play Mozart and it'll be all enourmously messed up.

P.s.: imitating odd queer bitchies like M or LG (from who I've never heard a single note, by the ways) doesn't makes him a clever performer. I'd like to know if this guy even knows what Art Naïv is...probably he only knows playing, nothing about history of music and a lot from LV...so sad.

  • @CarlitosDessay He went to Julliard for a bit, and he shares in THIS vid how he used to compose as a child and has studied with his teacher for 10 yrs. I can't imagine that in the course of his life, he never learned to read music or play Mozart...simply because he wears a mask and has different hair? Which form of Art Naiv are you referring to? That BEFORE the 20th century where artists received little training, or NOW where people go to school to study the Art Naiv? Arrogance is ugly.

  • What instrument does he play? As in the maker? Any ideas? I think he needs to eat a little better and get out in the sun a bit or else he may make himself ill. Hopefully he will float a little closer to earth and grab a few more burgers and fries. It's a joke. He is interestingly odd. i know he is a great player! Using a clever tactic to attract attention to himself.

  • @thestringdreams He plays a Pressenda

  • Personification of Art, The clothes are not costumes, they are sculpture! He is a performance piece, multimedia art form...some will not "get it" but that's okay, at least they are not napping!

  • oh my god... and not in a good way

  • @PTCello couldn't agree more

  • i looove him! <3

  • Obviously, this guy is a great amazing performer, much better than what I will ever be, but one thing is clear: he is provig to know very few about music if he dares comparing bach to madonna, i pitty him.

  • @CarlitosDessay

    Feeble minded...

He said he doesn't experience a difference when he hears either or. MEANING, to him music is the same and he does not diregard one for the other. A true musician respects what has been placed around him. He can choose whether or not to borrow from what's been placed in front of him or follow his own path. His musical nirvana is not swayed by a certain genre, rather, he is swayed by ALL types of music.

He's thinking on a level above yours pretty much.

  • @withered962 thank you for sharing your opinion about what I mentioned before. It is also very true what you are saying, and I'll dare going further. For giving your opinion (which is free to rather giving it or not) you don't have to call someone feeble minded, unless you feel the need to show your dissaprovement, or feel that your opinion is better (which trust me, honey, keep dreaming) or to show how rude and unpolite you are.

  • @withered962 also say next: about what a good musician knows (what you mentioned in your inappropriate answer) a good musician also knows what music is (notice that I didn't say "good" whatever music?) there's just music and the rest is just nothing to do with it. In a conservatory you find many opinions, but only some like mine are taken serious, that's why I am who I am and do what I do. My point: a good musician mainly knows that Bach can't be compared in any way to shit. Do not waste time.

  • @CarlitosDessay

To say that you cannot find the same beauty you find in Bach's music is kind of silly. I can compare a great stillness and calm passion with Satie and The American Dollar. Two totally different composers/arists of a different genre, country and decade.

  • I will be watching for him to play with the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra. I really love what I have heard from him.

  • I like him!!!!

  • His parents obviously also bought him some hair gel.

  • gareth pugh and rick owens... this guy is brave

  • someone knows the name of the piece in 5'18 ?

  • @ffv45 It's a transcription for violin of La Plus que Lente - Valse by Debussy

  • @ladomi1 thanks a lot! :)

  • MOLTO BELLO!!!

  • very inspiring...

  • You all do not understand his expression of what he FEELS. Don't knock it just cuz it looks strange to YOU. Why all the judgement? Why must different be weird--I mean, equanimity for all and appreciate his courage to express what he wants--and the critics be _ _ _ _ _ _.

  • Comment removed

  • @violinimprovmama wow, SO judgmental. how sad.

  • a true performer. he has a bright future.

  • definitely talented, but pretty strange with the bizarre costume shit...looks like a bizarre gimmick.

  • hes amazing..im sorry but i cant look at his face, it creeps me out gaaah

  • Talented, clearly. Another grotesque idol of selfhood and ornament. How soon can this mosquito hit the windshield?

  • @sphinxicity He actually seems very humble to me. He has a genuine depth and artistry to his playing that is given new dimension in the way he dresses and preforms. I say Bravo to him- it's about time that for a renaissance in classical music that will inspire a new generation.

  • "that's a very expensive nap" haha i love this guy!

  • a true artist

  • Rewelacja.

  • what is the title of song which he play at the beginning?

  • @kasiulkaa159

Nocturne C# minor op. posth. by Chopin

(pol: Nokturn cis-moll opus 20 posthumous).

  • @Gwynbleidd66 thanks

  • i love that he played danse macabre!

  • unbelievably talented and sure " different" too much talking to m taste...

but still unusually talented violonist, Xaviera Hollander

  • what in the world happened to him

  • Comment removed

  • HAHN BINS GONNA SAVE CLASSICAL MUSIC

  • @Oscreo80

I had no idea it needed saving.

  • I was in the audience of that Five Poisons concert. It was mindblowing. Hahn-Bin is excruciatingly talented.

  • The Lady GaGa of classical music !

  • @chiztrix Definantly not, Chiztrix.. Lady Gaga dresses up in random clothing and just does stage performances.

Hahn-Bin, on the other hand, is a lovely mix of mysterious masquerade and classical music that can only be portrayed by the nimblest of fingers. He is an amazing artist and violinist. His hard work throughout his life is definitely apparent, but it's also coupled with his natural ability to bust those bow hairs in the most beautiful way possible. :P

  • @chiztrix No need to insult the man.

  • I just love him. Will see you at Strathmore in March! :d)

  • wow thank you so much!!

I've been wanting to see/hear him play for so long now.

he came to my city, but I didn't get to go.

    :)
