He's softly spoken, he's intelligent, he's reflective, he's charismatic, he loved his family, and probably most importantly - he's clearly had a terrible childhood, so there's a feeling of genuine sympathy. there are countless richard's in this world, and his story is a true one.Read the book of Jeremiah chapter 17 verse 9,that scripture is written in stone.rather you believe it or not.
It shows that he had become so conditioned to violence from such a young age that he no longer felt anything. So killing meant nothing to him, it just shows how elastic the human mind is and how it is conditioned by repetition. Sad but this is how the government work in controlling the masses, large scale hypnotism!!
My opinion is that he is a show off and a pathological liar and embroiderer. We hear him brag to the undercover cop 'I'll 'talk' to anyone my friend if the price is right'. This guy likes to brag A LOT. There's no way this guy has kept his trap shut all those years if he'd committed such clever murders. Police live by their grass's and he would have certainly blipt on some cops radar before. I knew a guy who's birthday like RK was 11th April and he was the spit of him in every violent lying way
I think he was bullshiting about hanging out in the Gemini Club. I read two books and watched a documentary on Roy DeMeo and Kuklinski was never mentioned. Also in the book he states that Jimmy Hoffa's body is on the front of a japanese car somewhere.. Hard to believe all of this so I do not know what to make of this guy. They only connected him to (I think) three murders.
This guy is almost completely full of shit, I don't believe he is crazy. He is just an extremely violent man, with a short temper and a voraciously selfish personality. He is not even a successful Sociopath....he doesn't know what makes him snap? WTF!!! I have no dout he has murdered quite a few people, but he keeps hazey on the number of people and the specifics of the killings. He is just a very distant, cold human being.
@ViceCityVacation Selfish, cold, distant, extremely violent. You just described the perfect psychopathic killer. Not a successful sociopath? Well, he feels nothing for nothing and that’s what sociopaths are. He knows what triggers his rage... it’s anyone that “gets on his nerves”. Anyone who dares provoke that “superman” he is.. in his own little world. That’s a super narcissistic individual.
And sure, he probably killed less men than he says –these killers constantly lie about the numbers to gain notoriety. Not sure if he did all he says he did either but he did learn how to freeze a body before dumping it and that’s not what someone “just crazy tempered” do.

He was mistreated by his Dad,and further by his Mother. It sounds like Neighborhood kids would also mess with him.It sounds like in order to survive he had to detach from his feelings, over time he was completely detached, and became a killer. It sounds like alot of the darkness this guy carried with him was passed on to him through his Parents, and people around him who abused him.
@JuliusGulius Also, I've seen him contradict himself slightly in a few videos. In one, perhaps his one, I forgot now, he admitted to having dismembered people with a chainsaw, and in another one he acted as if this were stupid and gave reasons why e.g.too messy, etc...Now, he could have actually done it before and learned the hard way, and then ignored it in the other video, but...I've also gotten the impression that he might be making up things and boasting. I mean, he's already put away...
@JuliusGulius ...and has nothing to lose, so he may be thinking why not go for some record or something. He is easily lead in some of his answers as well. Whatever the interviewer says he usually always agrees. It's almost as if they threw out something, he decided to claim it, and then enhance the story even more. Were I the therapist I would have tested this. The multi-part interview with the psychiatrist was pretty good, and the psychiatrists observations were accurate. Analyst was good.
@kropotkinbeard1 I agree, also in an interview that I saw he said he pulled up in a car with some other fellows to wack the dude before the green light, but then says he was by himself on a motorcycle
I could imagine the doctor as the serial killer...you would imagine a gentle man from his voice yet...35:43 holy shit will you look at that piercing gaze!
Kuklinski tells Dietz classic symptoms of sociopathic behaviour, but Dietz sees through his bullshit and continues to string him along,to further examine his psyche.
Kuklinski was a low grade hit man who warrants nothing in the 'celebrity' world of criminals.
the doctor purposely asks richard certain questions about methods he used to kill his victims thus getting richard to ponder the question whether he wants to end his own life and how he would do it. Quite amazing. Also when richard responds to some of these questions you can tell he is avoiding something in his own head. to my understanding that is death. the doctor in a sense responds in a certain tone and it brings his thoughts back to suicide.
The ultimate bad-ass. I have to admit I would have shit my pants if I had been Dr. Deitz, sitting in that room and having Kuklinski tell me that I was starting to make him mad. And among other things, what really got me nervous was what he said about coming across as a nice guy in this interview at the exact moment when I was thinking that he didn't seem like such a bad guy - very intimidating. Kuklinski is an extremely intriguing guy and this interview itself nothing short of brilliant.
I do believe his story about feeding people to rats in a cave because it made him uneasy telling about it and it haunts him. The hardest part would be sitting there listening to those poor fuckers die in such agony or as he said re-living it through watching the tapes. I wish Dr. Deitz would have asked him if he feared death himself. I'm positive he does because he was so glad his wife didn't stab him and a few other things he mentioned.
I believe he did kill a lot of people impulsively as he said, in the case of the rope strangulation and the road rage. I think their actions tripped his trigger about his childhood and he decided they weren't going to inflict that on anyone else. He probably felt good about ridding the world of a few bully's was his motive.
sense danger and I'm positive you would get your own ass tore half off trying a stunt like that before you change your mind and abort. Nevertheless this is one interesting dude.
I wasnt sure if I believed this guy about some of the killings until he said "who would believe these stories when told to them, I wouldn't believe them myself." I watched a different interview with him where he said he tied cats tails together and threw them over a clothesline until they killed one another. If you watch him during this statement I believe this to be false. I heard that story a hundred times growing up and it was always false. Besides cats are some mean motherfuckers when they
COMPULSIVE LIAR - notice that when he's fabricating and making up a story he looks to his right (left side of screen), this is a psychological giveaway that he's 'creating' the imagery, if he looks to his left like when speaking about his parents then he is remembering. Check out starting at 10:45 , he makes up the details about the strangulation and is flustered when pressed about the rope.
@MilosDorian I agree that he is a compulsive liar, but the age old giveaway you are talking about is actually remembering - right, making up - left, however this is not supported by peer reviewed research and there is no proof to this CSI trick.
@cjn9999 It's true that the eye test isn't guaranteed for everyone, but if you examine his way of telling the events there are moments when he puckers his lips and smirks, moments either of pride or bravado. It's those moments where he seems to occasionally exaggerate or invent, possibly because he's forgotten or because it helps him to feel in control. The story at 10:00 has some perfect examples of this.
@MilosDorian I don’t think he is a compulsive liar, his eyes are just cold. His imagery is probably exaggerated only to speak of the events again when there have been many. I may be able to think of how he killed exactly but only to give a story of how he may kill that person. That is usually common, because as a psychopath you don’t actually think when you are killing and may not remember exactly what happened. Only later if ask like this you will be able to “describe” the event.
@princelv33 You're probably right about him not remembering. But he puts on the cold facade to appear emotionless, as Dr. Deitz points out later as a defense mechanism to distance himself. I'd really recommend re-examining the story he tells at 10:00, there is a moment when he says he used a rope to strangle the man, but when Dr.Deitz asks where was the rope from he gets flustered and it takes him a minute because he didn't think it through. A lot of liars get tripped up like this.
@MilosDorian I understand what you are saying completely, I saw the trip up. He was surprised of the questions being ask whereas he never had been asked before. Dr. Deitz was very good, and him pointing out his defense mechanism, the Ice-man it seemed showed some remorse or shock when the doctor was annotating his observation of him. I sometime took it as Richard was being a show for the heck of it, he murdered over 100 people and he is like what I can say? I am a psychopath...
U r right, Kuklinksi was a big liar. AND a homicidal maniac, who killed prolly 200+ people. But I have carefully read the books on him, and compared his murder claims against the published accounts at the time, and I have found a number of lies: specifically, I doubt he killed Carmine Galante, Roy DeMeo, Paul Castellano, or Jimmy Hoffa, or that he ever fed live people to rats. He also lies here when he says he only gets a rush from sex. He loved torturing people to death.
@2WiseOwl Hmm interesting, thanks for the input WiseOwl. Do you recommend any books about him or serial killers in general? I'm very fascinated by the psychological aspect, what makes them tick and why. I really enjoyed Dr.Deitz's analysis.
@MilosDorian I too am fascinated by these psychos. I think I missed my calling, I would have loved to be a detective so I could stalk and catch them. As for books on Big Rich, I recommend The Iceman by Bruno; and The Iceman, Confessions of a Serial Killer by Carlo. Both are pretty good, but they rely too much on his lies, as noted . . .
The thing that doesn't make sense is how he talks about wanting to see people before they go and "this is a long time we came, you and I" sounds as if hes talking about personal murders, which should be minimal if he was a true outside contract murderer, therefore I wager to bet that he didn't murder many people, and he mainly is referring to the murders he was caught for, which were his close associates.A real big killer would have said, "the people I know I cared about shooting them up close."
@1ZsebastianZ1 --This has happened before, beaten as a child,as his father was beaten,he passes it on,the anger, not on his family, but on his victims. His brother too.Sad,had he had good rational parents what he might have been. Some who are beaten feel the anger, know in is unhealthy and seek help to cure themselves or learn to live with it.
I think there's a much simpler explanation.
The nazis didn't have a hard time finding people for mass killings.
As long as you give them a rational reason to do something, enough pay under authority figure, they'll find a good reasons within themselves to do it.

Iceman sounds as though he read too much Ayn Rand in my opinion. She would have loved him.

@kropotkinbeard1 I was actually thinking the same thing, one of those guys were no matter what he says it sounds like he is reading it from a novel
JuliusGulius 2 months ago
@JuliusGulius Also, I've seen him contradict himself slightly in a few videos. In one, perhaps his one, I forgot now, he admitted to having dismembered people with a chainsaw, and in another one he acted as if this were stupid and gave reasons why e.g.too messy, etc...Now, he could have actually done it before and learned the hard way, and then ignored it in the other video, but...I've also gotten the impression that he might be making up things and boasting. I mean, he's already put away...
kropotkinbeard1 2 months ago
@JuliusGulius ...and has nothing to lose, so he may be thinking why not go for some record or something. He is easily lead in some of his answers as well. Whatever the interviewer says he usually always agrees. It's almost as if they threw out something, he decided to claim it, and then enhance the story even more. Were I the therapist I would have tested this. The multi-part interview with the psychiatrist was pretty good, and the psychiatrists observations were accurate. Analyst was good.
kropotkinbeard1 2 months ago
@kropotkinbeard1 I agree, also in an interview that I saw he said he pulled up in a car with some other fellows to wack the dude before the green light, but then says he was by himself on a motorcycle

Kuklinski tells Dietz classic symptoms of sociopathic behaviour, but Dietz sees through his bullshit and continues to string him along,to further examine his psyche.
Kuklinski was a low grade hit man who warrants nothing in the 'celebrity' world of criminals.

SoundwaveSuperior373 2 months ago
the doctor purposely asks richard certain questions about methods he used to kill his victims thus getting richard to ponder the question whether he wants to end his own life and how he would do it.

@MrDayd3 I dont believe him a shit because he shows off too much
MousseTauChocolate 2 months ago
I believe he did kill a lot of people impulsively as he said, in the case of the rope strangulation and the road rage. I think their actions tripped his trigger about his childhood and he decided they weren't going to inflict that on anyone else. He probably felt good about ridding the world of a few bully's was his motive.
MrDayd3 2 months ago
sense danger and I'm positive you would get your own ass tore half off trying a stunt like that before you change your mind and abort. Nevertheless this is one interesting dude.
MrDayd3 2 months ago

MilosDorian 3 months ago
@MilosDorian I agree that he is a compulsive liar, but the age old giveaway you are talking about is actually remembering - right, making up - left, however this is not supported by peer reviewed research and there is no proof to this CSI trick.
cjn9999 3 months ago
@cjn9999 It's true that the eye test isn't guaranteed for everyone, but if you examine his way of telling the events there are moments when he puckers his lips and smirks, moments either of pride or bravado. It's those moments where he seems to occasionally exaggerate or invent, possibly because he's forgotten or because it helps him to feel in control. The story at 10:00 has some perfect examples of this.
MilosDorian 2 months ago
@MilosDorian Maybe so....but who would argue with him? Total nutter
hearts76100 2 months ago
@MilosDorian I don’t think he is a compulsive liar, his eyes are just cold. His imagery is probably exaggerated only to speak of the events again when there have been many. I may be able to think of how he killed exactly but only to give a story of how he may kill that person. That is usually common, because as a psychopath you don’t actually think when you are killing and may not remember exactly what happened. Only later if ask like this you will be able to “describe” the event.
princelv33 2 months ago
@princelv33 You're probably right about him not remembering. But he puts on the cold facade to appear emotionless, as Dr. Deitz points out later as a defense mechanism to distance himself. I'd really recommend re-examining the story he tells at 10:00, there is a moment when he says he used a rope to strangle the man, but when Dr.Deitz asks where was the rope from he gets flustered and it takes him a minute because he didn't think it through. A lot of liars get tripped up like this.
MilosDorian 2 months ago
@MilosDorian I understand what you are saying completely, I saw the trip up. He was surprised of the questions being ask whereas he never had been asked before. Dr. Deitz was very good, and him pointing out his defense mechanism, the Ice-man it seemed showed some remorse or shock when the doctor was annotating his observation of him. I sometime took it as Richard was being a show for the heck of it, he murdered over 100 people and he is like what I can say? I am a psychopath...
princelv33 2 months ago
U r right, Kuklinksi was a big liar. AND a homicidal maniac, who killed prolly 200+ people. But I have carefully read the books on him, and compared his murder claims against the published accounts at the time, and I have found a number of lies: specifically, I doubt he killed Carmine Galante, Roy DeMeo, Paul Castellano, or Jimmy Hoffa, or that he ever fed live people to rats. He also lies here when he says he only gets a rush from sex. He loved torturing people to death.
2WiseOwl 2 months ago
@2WiseOwl Hmm interesting, thanks for the input WiseOwl. Do you recommend any books about him or serial killers in general? I'm very fascinated by the psychological aspect, what makes them tick and why. I really enjoyed Dr.Deitz's analysis.
MilosDorian 2 months ago
@MilosDorian I too am fascinated by these psychos. I think I missed my calling, I would have loved to be a detective so I could stalk and catch them. As for books on Big Rich, I recommend The Iceman by Bruno; and The Iceman, Confessions of a Serial Killer by Carlo. Both are pretty good, but they rely too much on his lies, as noted . . .
2WiseOwl 2 months ago
The thing that doesn't make sense is how he talks about wanting to see people before they go and "this is a long time we came, you and I" sounds as if hes talking about personal murders, which should be minimal if he was a true outside contract murderer, therefore I wager to bet that he didn't murder many people, and he mainly is referring to the murders he was caught for, which were his close associates.A real big killer would have said, "the people I know I cared about shooting them up close."
cjn9999 3 months ago
@cjn9999 ---And at 21,you know all of this to be true ? And you get your facts where ? Why does he have to make sense to you ? You know NOTHING.
