The IrateGamer reviewed Contra, and stupidly said to avoid the laser gun. He griped that the laser couldn't go but 3 feet in front of the player. Maybe if that jackass didn't keep pressing the fire button, he'd see that the laser travels the length of the screen and can take out 2 or 3 basic enemies in one shot.

Thank you for proving that moron wrong. I always knew that the Laser gun (I called it 'Lisa' after watching Full Metal Jacket) was a very effective weapon.

Excellent work. And yeah, about comment on the boss at 5:30, I feel your pain, buddy, I remember the first time I got to this part, celebrated after blowing up the head, then lost all of my lives from the giant amoebas and had to start over again. Then when I finally got past them, I lost all of my lives again from the scorpions and had to restart the game. :P
