HA HA! I'm so happy to be from Oklahoma and not have to worry about fighting the Civil War and trying to resegregate blacks. The South is a parasite to this nation and all your southern states are useless, non-productive welfare states that receive more aid from the federal government than you all put in. Oklahoma is in NO WAY southern, and Texas and Missouri really aren't either. Southerners are inbred garbage. Boomer Sooner!
@ShinAkiio if u have a problem with southern people come on over from Japan. The north and west coast look down on the south. We are simple people. U know how many racist people are up north and on the west coast. I hate people like you, so ignorrant
come on i know that some ppl rlly hate this song but let ole miss play it at the cotton bowl one more time! isnt there some website where you can petition for "dixie" to come back?
@brainerdrebel - check out what's been happening in the state of Oklahoma. Google "Oklahoma Did It Anyway" and you'll read about some good laws they've passed and how several other states are following their lead. Also, go on Youtube and look at "We The People" by Ray Stevens. There are lots of Americans (including me) who used to be somewhat liberal, but got fed up with political correctness and the "nanny state" the liberals want to impose. Long live freedom!!!
@sonicwhip man your really dumb its because our chancellor thinks its controversial, I'm Jewish, I go to Ole Miss, I chant the south will rise again, so chill with your "Jewish media" bull shit
It never had anything to do with with white power or black power. It is about the Constitution of the United States. The Role of the Federal Government , the States are equal partners in this federation. Obviously, they have stopped teaching Constitutional Law at Mississippi.
"We federated for foreign affairs only, all domestic affairs are left to the states or to the people." T. Jefferson
This song does nothing to help the football team at all, they haven't won the SEC in 40 something years and all the the best players in the state end up playing for the crimson tide.
I think the KKK thing was a set-up, to try to make supporters of the song "Dixie" look bad. In the past, like during Vietnam protests, the government used to send secret agents to the peace marches to try to stir up trouble and make the marchers look bad. The same thing is going on here. There is nothing racist or wrong about the confederate flag or "Dixie", but the politically correct crowd will stop at nothing to get what they want. It's a set-up.
America is so racists. the white people from the south are very racist types of people. just look at the comments. the white people have so much hate to other races. and really hate the black people for some reason. america will fall one day, i can tell. people have to know that we are all same human
if you feel that way..then why are you even viewing this video..?? we're ALL humans..sure...but we are not all going to get along. so get over it! hey dumd fuck...there are some racist white people...there are some racist black people...there are some racist mexicans and so on and so on.....dont just point out the whites...and where are you from
The image of the Confederate battle flag has been destroyed by hate groups, I truly believe that everyone from the South(white and black) should stand together and defend our Southern Heritage. (back to the band playing Dixie at Ole Miss football games, come on people it is just a song. A song that many of us are still proud of. Sounds to me like more divisive people trying to make something out of nothing and let me be blunt, this is the real reason we can not get along in America.)
I am from Louisiana, I am not racist. I love the South. I have my own opinion about the Civil War. I have ancestors that fought for the Southern Cause, States Rights, and Freedom. The Ole Miss band playing Dixie is not racist and I hope all Southern people understand that.
Its just a song I think everyone knows the the South aint rising again...hell the white people are soon to be minorities.....I say let them have there LAST couple of decades because other ethnicities will soon have theres....And No I am not racist all my Diamonds are Car Casun
Moreover, Ole Miss began losing more games than winning AFTER the controversial firing (still confusing to most ESPN commentators - mentioned most recently this week!) of David Cutcliffe and the hiring of Ed Orgeron (a good recruiter, not a coach). This is what SHOULD happen as the song leads the team ON and OFF the field - celebration and jubilation
i seem to hear some people chanting Glory, Glory Halleluia... hmmm... interesting. By the way ourmissboo when we BEAT Oklahoma St. in the Cotton Bowl, we had a quarter back named Eli Manning, a linebacker named Patrick Willis, and a head coach named David Cutcliffe.
"the South will rise again"? I just don't understand how that phrase is racial in any way.
Ole Miss is in Oxford, Mississippi. During the civil war, northern soldiers burned the entire town of Oxford to the ground. They called it the "War of Northern Aggression."
If people in Oxford say "the South will rise again", I take it that they are rising from the ashes of the burning the north did to them. It's proud, it's not racist.
I think that people that see racism everywhere may have some personal character issues they need to deal with. The south rising again had to do with MONEY folks. Homes, fields, universities, entire cities were burned to the ground !
The racist part of this song is when the crowd chants "the South will rise again," instead of the real words of the song, "His truth is marching on." They take words about God and change it to the rallying cry that segregationists used in the 60's.
If Ole' Miss fans would stick to the real words of the song then it wouldn't be an issue. It's a beautiful song.
I'm an LSU fan, born & raised in Louisiana, but love this song, especially the way this band plays it. Ole Miss: I respect yall for not being political correct pussies, but slowly yall are letting the dooshbags of the world stop yall & the southland's traditions. Please never stop playing thie song.
interesting how the school and its fans continue to disrespect the history of slavery when its football program wouldn't be where it is w/out black players. let's see how much Rising you do w/out them
during world war 2 the north burnt oxford down and alot more cities in mississippi and in the south sayin the south will rise again in the middle of the song means oxford will rise from the ashes
I just read that Ole Miss has decided to abbreviate this song so that people can't say "the South will rise again" at the end. How ridiculous! If that's the way they think, then they should change their name from "the Rebels" to "the Conformists".....or the "PC's" (for politically correct). What I've loved about Ole Miss is that rebel spirit, that refusal to kowtow to what is "in" at the time, and the respect for tradition. So keep the tradition and the song Dixie, as is. Go Rebels!
I marched with the Rebel band 19 years ago and to this day, this song still gives me chills and brings a tear to my eyes every time I hear them play it. I LOVE THIS SONG and I LOVE OLE MISS!!! HOTTY TODDY GO REBS!!!!!!
You obvoiusly have never been to oxford nor have you been to any games. I have NEVER hurd a black person athlete or fan hate this song nor the confederate flag or colonel reb. They know it isn't about slavery KKK or anything of that nature. It's called HERITAGE. and it's MISSISSIPPI'S and the souths. They cheer just like all the rest of the fans so don't say somethin like that when you don't even know the truth.
Only a loser would cry about a song. Oh boy, its hurts the black boys feelings go cry to someone who fucking gives a fuck if it hurts their feelings. Every thing hurts their feelings, looking at white people hurt's their feelings.
Dixie was actually written by a guy from Ohio who was a circus performer. So the story goes, circus performers who traveled in the Midwest and Northeast during the winter would say to one another "I wish I was in Dixie" referring to their desire to be in a warmer climate. He was actually a Northern-sympathizer and the song was never meant to denote anything related to racism or Southern ideology.
Wow, that stadium is alot bigger now, also yall must have gone on one really warm day in December, it is usually much colder in Dallas in the Winter time.
Why are you people fighting? It is not about the North against South. We are One Nation Under God. I am very pride of my way of life and I don't agree with how some people give us a bad name by all that hate and racial comments. I still get chills when ever anyone plays Dixie. No matter who won or lost. As a Nation, we all lost. By the deaths of our Men that went to fight for what they belived in. You should all be ashamed for acting like children.
1. This is the new South. We love the South and the song "Dixie." It has nothing to do with racism.
2. We play "Dixie" combined with "The Battle Hymn" because Dixie is part of America. If you idiots knew anything, you'd know that it's just some drunk students who yell "The South Will Rise Again," and the vast majority here find that stupid.
i agree it has nothing to do with racism, but if the north is going to continue to become increasing more imoral and liberal then ya know what "THE SOUTH WILL RISE AGAIN!!!! YEAAAAAHHHHHH (p.s. im not a drunk student)
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
the north just didnt win, we burned your towns, beat you in your own homeland, ran over your army, slaughtered your "rebel yell" troops at pickets charge, controlled the rivers, destroyed your rail lines, just be thankfull lincoln was generous, personally i think we should have done more to punish the south, (part of my family fought for the south and personally its an insult to our family tree) you fought for your rights will not allowing them to others. GLORY GLORY! THE NORTH WILL WIN AGAIN!
All i know is 400,000 union dead and 200,000 confederates dead. the Union made children at age 14 fight and you out numbered the South 3 to 1, but the confederates killed more men and were just farmers.
The whole Southern economy was based on slavery and Lincoln wanted that taken away and if u look at the history 60 years before the civil war. The south was right, the Presidents were creating tariffs on the South to create an economy and infrastructure for the north. Learn your history.
Also, ran over your army that is totally false. I have 2 percentages for you 85% Northern soldiers retreated every battle and 15% Union soldiers deserted. Now for the Southerners 3% retreateted and 0% deserted. To prove this look at the Civil War movies hahaha yankees sure can run hahaha
Also, Historians have proven the CSA would have won if they started gorilla warfare, but they were sick of kicking your worthless asses. "Burned your houses" does that give you some sense of egotistical pride because some Union men can burn a house when only the women and children are home or are the Union scared of houses after what happened to them in Fredericksburg.
Last time i checked Lincoln was shot in the back of the head and if u check records 60 years before the civil war tariffs were put on the South to start an economy and infrastrucure in the north. This is against the Constitution. Also, the comment about Picketts charge was classless. Those men were brave charging across 1 1/2 mile patch of land and never retreated and the north were hiding behind walls.
What is the relevance of any of this? You judge from afar, in ignorance. We don't play "Dixie" to pine for racism or any of that crap. This is the new south. To hell with your cultural bigotry and failure to understand that there's a lot in the South to be proud of. It has nothing to do with racism, you twit.
The War Between the States was fought primarily over State rights. That fact alone is what ignited Southern states to secede from the Union. Thankfully, in all honesty, my beloved South did not come out victorious. But, nonetheless, after much long suffering and despair, Gen Ulysses S. "THE SELF-SERVING JERK" Grant truly stuck it to the South. Tacking on unnecessary decades until self-sustainment attained. (Can not refer to as The Civil War since seceded States no longer part of Union)
Thankfully, in all honesty, your beloved South did not come out victorious, huh? I guess that's why the rabid drunks at Ole Miss yell "The South Will Rise Again!" at the end of this song. So, I suppose we could consider you a minority?
I guess this song sort of paralells the Civil War: Southern pride capped off by an anti-Southern hymn to symbolise defeat, so to speak. The university should play the REAL Dixie or nothing at all.
We killed 400,000 thousand yankees and u killed aproxiametly 225,000 thousand rebels also the federal army had better technology and double the amount of soldiers that were trained. We destroyed ur asses, historians say today if the south went to gorilla warfare they wouldve won the war but we didnt want to slaughter ur poor yankee asses anymore.
Do you think I'm from the North? I live in Mississippi!
The song "From Dixie with Love" contains excerpts from the Battle Hymn of the Republic, which is an anti-South hymn that was sung by the Union Army. It is practically a slap in the face to the South and people who supposedly take pride in it. The university should play the REAL Dixie or nothing at all.
Guts to play this song? This is From Dixie with love, an adaptation to an Elvis Presley Song, An American Trilogy. An American Trilogy is a mixture between Dixie and The Battle Hymn of the Republic, which we all know The Battle Hymn was a pro-Union Army/anti-South song written by a woman who didn't even believe in God.
If anything, this song is a slap in the face to true southern tradition. It just goes to show you how politically correct Ole Miss has become.
Yeah, tell that to an administration who gave the Confederate flag a boot.
Anyone with a love for Southern heritage and knowledge of history and the origin of Dixie and The Battle Hymn of the Republic would know that it is a discrace to the South to play them together in any way.
This song doesn't take "guts" to play, just stupidity.
Sure, I don't like The Battle Hymn, but like I said...You know as well as I do that it takes guts to wear a shirt with the flag on it, just as it takes guts for a school like this to play anything Dixie.
Just be thankful that you even hear the strains of Dixie, and get past the fact that it's followed by The Battle Hymn.
As an Auburn fan I have to say, this is my favorite SEC tradition, more so than anything we do at Auburn even. From Dixie With Love almost single handedly caused me to go to Ole Miss. Almost.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
excuse me again but FUCK dixie, this is America bitch not Dixie so leave that old way of thinking behind. Be proud of being from the south not the racist nigger hanging shit they sang while chasing and killing Blacks
I think you are missing the point of the song... It's tradition and a celebration... Only racist hold on to the past and cry about it.. it's just a song..Try living in the now...
To Everyone who reads this........
RACIST ARE EVERYWHERE IF YOU CALL ME A RACIST THAT MAKES YOU A RACIST... THE ONLY WAY TO STOP THE CYCLE IS TO STOP ACCUSING!!! WHO CARES WHAT HAPPENED YEARS AND YEARS AND YEARS BEFORE YOU WERE BORN! RIP ON JESUS I WON'T CRY ABOUT IT SO YOU SHOULDN'T CRY WHEN YOU HEAR DIXIE! GROW UP
It's heritage not hate. Clearly im a huge vols fan, the NCAA doesn't know shit.

the north just didnt win, we burned your towns, beat you in your own homeland, ran over your army, slaughtered your "rebel yell" troops at pickets charge, controlled the rivers, destroyed your rail lines, just be thankfull lincoln was generous, personally i think we should have done more to punish the south, (part of my family fought for the south and personally its an insult to our family tree) you fought for your rights will not allowing them to others.

See?

I will always support Ole Miss sports just because they have the guts and heart to play this beautiful song.
God bless Dixie.

It just goes to show you how politically correct Ole Miss has become.
justarandomguy80 3 years ago
In these days of overbearing political correctness, playing or displaying anything even hinting of Dixie takes guts.
HurricaneTeen 3 years ago 2
Yeah, tell that to an administration who gave the Confederate flag a boot.
Anyone with a love for Southern heritage and knowledge of history and the origin of Dixie and The Battle Hymn of the Republic would know that it is a discrace to the South to play them together in any way.
This song doesn't take "guts" to play, just stupidity.
justarandomguy80 3 years ago
Sure, I don't like The Battle Hymn, but like I said...You know as well as I do that it takes guts to wear a shirt with the flag on it, just as it takes guts for a school like this to play anything Dixie.
Just be thankful that you even hear the strains of Dixie, and get past the fact that it's followed by The Battle Hymn.

As an Auburn fan I have to say, this is my favorite SEC tradition, more so than anything we do at Auburn even. From Dixie With Love almost single handedly caused me to go to Ole Miss. Almost.
