If by the written word you mean The Bible or Gospel, we do read those. Catholics just do not try to memorize the verses. At Church the priest reads a passage from the Gospel. If by the written word you mean The Bible or Gospel, we do read those. Catholics just do not try to memorize the verses. At Church the priest reads a passage from the Gospel. I think if you go to Church everyday for three years, you'll hear the entire Gospel read to you. I might have misinterpreted what you were saying, but I am just defending my religion.
