Nothing like hunting with a red-dot scope and ton of hog! My biggest pg to date is 397lbs. at 80yrds. Dropped like a rock and did the bacon fry dance for a minute and then lights out. His tusks were 6 inches long with wetters about 2 inches. His tail was 21 inches long and I have never seen one longer! He had the classic ridge hair from forehead to tail. Shot in Texas in the Piney Woods National forest on private land. What a beast! His cutters hang from my rear view mirror!

Hunting for food/necessity is fine in my book. Hunting for sport is ridiculous and portrays hunters as having "small man" syndrome. I appreciate that these boars cause huge damage to farms etc. but there has to be a more feasible way of reducing their numbers.
Do some research, we are down to only a few practices that actually work on these EXTREMELY intelligent beasts, this being one of them. THEY ARE STILL WINNING and growing in population every single day. Trust me, you want us killing this critters by the thousands, the alternative is unacceptable and will affect us all........country folks as well as city dwellers. I am thinking about doing some hog hunting, I am not sure what caliber I should use, any recommendations?. In the description of the video it says that there using magnum cartridges, but I don't have anything close to those guns in the way of power. would a 30-06 or 12 gauge do though?
@disco3669 30-06 or 12 gauge with solids would be plenty. Recommend some practise shots with the solids at differnt ranges, to ensure a clean kill. Shoot for just behind the front shoulder, it is a much bigger kill target than the head. I have shot a deer with its bottom half of its jaw missing due to a poorly placed shot. I was glad to end its suffering before it starved. Hot barrells

Nothing like hunting with a red-dot scope and ton of hog! My biggest pg to date is 397lbs. at 80yrds. Dropped like a rock and did the bacon fry dance for a minute and then lights out. His tusks were 6 inches long with wetters about 2 inches. His tail was 21 inches long and I have never seen one longer! He had the classic ridge hair from forehead to tail. Shot in Texas in the Piney Woods National forest on private land. What a beast! His cutters hang from my rear view mirror!

Hunting for food/necessity is fine in my book. Hunting for sport is ridiculous and portrays hunters as having "small man" syndrome. I appreciate that these boars cause huge damage to farms etc. but there has to be a more feasible way of reducing their numbers.

I am thinking about doing some hog hunting, I am not sure what caliber I should use, any recommendations?. In the description of the video it says that there using magnum cartridges, but I don't have anything close to those guns in the way of power. would a 30-06 or 12 gauge do though?

@disco3669 30-06 or 12 gauge with solids would be plenty. Recommend some practise shots with the solids at differnt ranges, to ensure a clean kill. Shoot for just behind the front shoulder, it is a much bigger kill target than the head. I have shot a deer with its bottom half of its jaw missing due to a poorly placed shot. I was glad to end its suffering before it starved. Hot barrells

I have many friends who live in a city and are some of the best outdoors you will ever meet. Us hunters need to stick together, no matter where You live. This type of hunting is vital to the survival of other wildlife and agriculture.
